  • Traditional wet shaving Merkur 34c HD and feather blades with a thick stubble beard is not a easy task. I found the easiest way to shave your thick beard off your face with 4 days of growth. A good face soap like Stirling Soap co. and brush to lather face is key to the closest shave you're ever going to get.

    The MERKUR razor 34C is also known among fans by the abbreviation “HD”, short for Heavy Duty. The safety razor has earned this compliment over the past 80 years due to its massive weight. But the 34C also has a soulful side: with a few razors you will be able to remove your hair more gently than with this classic.
    A safety razor with a closed comb is the all-rounder for classic wet shaving. You will intuitively feel the correct setting angle of your plane and immediately admire the best shaving results. The generous blade gap enables a high flow of soap and thus protects the razor head from being clogged with cut hair or foam residues.
    The redness and irritation of the skin after shaving is commonly known as razor burn or razor bumps. The burning and itchy skin irritations are caused by the removal of the upper skin layers during shaving. The injured skin is no longer able to defend itself against harmful influences and becomes sore. By using a cartridge razor, you support this harmful behavior. With every stroke of the multiple blades of a system razor, you also stress your skin tremendously. That’s a quick way to guarantee painful razor burn! That is precisely where the safety razor begins to shine: The safety razor works with a single, very sharp blade. So you only stress your skin once with each pull and not several times. So even if you conduct a shave with the grain or against and across the grain, your skin will still be less stressed than with a single stroke of your cartridge razor. This way, you protect your skin and avoid razor bumps.
    Ingrown hair and pimples can have many causes. An infection of the hair follicle is often caused by shaving. To avoid this, you should make sure that you prepare and follow up your shave well. However, your choice of razor is the main factor in all of this. The spaces between the blades of your cartridge razor are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Every time you shave, you increase the risk of a skin infection caused by your cartridge razor. In addition, cartridge blades are often used for several weeks for cost reasons - this exposes you and your skin to an even higher risk of skin irritation. All these problems can easily be avoided with a safety razor. The quick blade change ensures that you always work with a new and hygienic razor blade. Moreover, the fact that you can let the sharp blade glide over your skin entirely without pressure makes it particularly kind to your sensitive skin.
    Your cartridge razor seems to be the cheaper option at first glance. The manufacturers first lure you in with a cheap introductory offer and then cash you in with the expensive blades. Your classic safety razor is a bit more expensive to buy. This is due to the fact that we produce all our razors Germany in compliance with the highest production quality. A razor blade only costs you about 10-70 cents. So you have quickly recovered the acquisition costs and can enjoy a thorough shave on top while doing so. If the manufacturer of your cartridge razor should launch a new “miracle blade” on the market again, they may stop the production of the cartridge blades for your older model - leaving you out in the cold.
    You should now have a good overview of the advantages and disadvantages of different shaving systems. While the cartridge razor is the standard tool for many people, the practical advantages of a classic safety razor are far more significant! By using clean, high-quality blades, you reduce the risk of skin irritation or razor bumps. The absence of a gliding strip soaked in chemicals also protects the skin while you enjoy a gentle and thorough shave. Whether it’s the cost-saving advantages of a classic safety razor or concern for the environment (or both!) that convince you, it’s clear that our products offer something special. Just try any one of our classic safety razors and enjoy a gentle and skin-friendly shaving experience.

    I use Stirling Unscented and a double edge razor. I'm retired and am basically lazy so I only shave every 4 or 5 days. One pass is all I need to get an acceptable close shave.

    There you go. The one pass shave is fine for a day to the office. Are many of us in the office today? Even if you don't go in, this works fine for Zoom. 🙂Creed Aventus is too much for my $. I endorse the Stirling Executive Man preshave/beard oil. Works 2 ways.

    Ive used a few bar soaps 🧼 from Sterling of AR in the 2010s. I was looking at trying the shave scents-brands in Barber Shop 💈💈💈, Bar Drinks 🍹, maybe the Mountain Man.

    I've seem some shavers have a heavy lather for their shaves, you always have a thin lather. I guess a thick larger isn't necessary for a great shave.

    Your lather seems a touch pasty. Add a little water and use a vigorous back and forth motion rather than a circular motion. You will build an incredible lather on your face. Check out "Ruds Shaves" to see how he does it. I have incorporated this method and have cut my use of shave soap substantially and still do a 3 pass shave.

    Have you ever get razor bumps before?

    • @OhioShaves
      @OhioShaves  2 роки тому +4

      Great question, I used to not be able to shave my neck with a disposable razor. That being a Gillette fusion with five blades on the handle. I Used that for the last five years of disposable razors. Before that, it was a mach three which had three different blades. I can only say this about safety razor shaving, if you have sensitive skin it's the only way to shave. I am only able to shave against the grain on my neck with a safety razor and get little to no irritation on my neck everyday I shave. my skin is clearing up by just using a safety razor.

      @@OhioShaves I don’t know if I have sensitive skin. Maybe maybe not unless if I shave down It’ll probably just clear up, but in like about 7-8 years I’m slightly interested in wet shaving, and I’ll be looking forward to it. One thing I forgot to mention, I’m also part black. So it’s less issue for me to shave down my neck lol
