  • As rubber ages, it loses flexibility. Elevated temperatures exacerbate the reaction/high engine compartment temperatures. Rubber also degrades with exposure to ultraviolet radiation and ozone, a lightweight gas found in the atmosphere and caused by the partial breakdown of air from atmospheric electric discharges. Anti-aging chemicals/conditioners, activated by operating temperature, prevent premature cracking.
This short but powerful video will give you step by step instruction on how to condition your new wiper blades so they last.

Hello My Friends, Hope you are having a great day :) THE MAIN IDEA of the video is to show you the power of 303, it helps ALL Rubber !....SEE, cars are money pits, so why not protect the items you can from replacing sooner than you normally would have to. THE the 303 works on every part of you car..not just wipers saving you many dollars in replacing rubber, or plastic, or vinyl, or leather parts yearly.

I can remember years ago, when people bought their blades at full service gas stations, the blades came with a small packaged wet wipe with some kind of conditioner on it. The attendant always wiped the rubber with it before he installed them.
And no I'm not 100 years old, lol.

My wife is a retired custom marine canvas fabricator and we have used and sold 303 products for over 15 years. The 303 Aerospace protectant used here also works well on vinyl, fiberglass and many plastics. An easy way to condition small items is to wet with the 303, seal in a ziplock bag and leave in a hot car for the day. 303 is good for leather too but we continued to use Lexol on our custom saddles and expensive horse tack just because we were concerned about changing products.
Thanks for the good tip and demonstration for wiper blades!

I have been using the original formula 303 for about 25 years back when it was not a consumer product but I used it at work and of course some always ends up at home. The original 303 was developed for use in the aircraft maintenance industry. 303 was part of the multi-step process for maintenance of polycarbonate aircraft windshields which can be incredibly expensive. For example, on the Citation II, each forward windshield replacement cost was approx. $22,000. I am happy that it is readily available to the average consumer now as it is an excellent product that has few competitors for effectiveness. Those that are comparable, you will pay an arm and a leg just to get a small amount if you are an average consumer. 303 works, it does exactly what it claims.

303 products have been an absolute favorite in the boating community to prevent 'UV burn' on rubber and 'plastic' etc. materials for many many years. For automotive use, I apply it on the side walls of my tires, on my vinyl convertible top and its clear vinyl 'window', the exposed rubber windshield/window 'gasketing', the vinyl door handles, vinyl dash boards and any exposed to the sun components etc. etc. etc. For home, etc., the 303 UV will greatly extend the life of exterior painted/varnished surfaces, as well as fiberglass surfaces.
303 also makes an excellent water proofing compound for fabrics; but, due to federal EPA laws against 'teflonic compounds' doesnt last as long as previously offered, and should be reapplied after a few months. It still works quite well on 'outdoor' 'rain gear' clothing and other fabrics for the 'short term'.

I can vouch for 303. I've been using it for years now and if you want to preserve your rubber and plastic it's the stuff to use. Story: VW Rabbit Cabriolet's have on the header of the windshield a large rubber gasket to seal the weather out when the top is up. It's 3 inches or so wide, goes the width of the car and is scalloped AND it costs a ton (185 bucks!) to buy. Years ago on my wife's Cabriolet, that header seal had become as hard as a rock and was leaking when it rained. I had some 303 and I squirted some on and worked it into the rubber and then let it sit. I came back after awhile and it was pretty soft at that point. I worked it in some more and then buffed it off like the directions say. It was now soft and pliable as new. Didn't leak a drop past that day. 303 protectant is great stuff. Best you can get and no silicon in it which you body guy will like.

About 4 decades ago I tried spraying my wiper blades with silicone spray. Big mistake! It smeared all over the windshield and made it very difficult to see out the glass. Lucky for me steel wool and Comet cleanser removed it - but that taught me to never try a silicone-based protectant on my wiper blades. This 303 Aerospace stuff looks promising to do this task. As the 303 is water-based, I am pretty sure I won't have the smear problem that I had with the silicone.
I just discovered your channel and you post great usable ideas! Thank you for the video(s)!

I have been using this product for a few years now. It is the best for using it on the top of a Jeep Wrangler, so mush better than anything on the market to date. I use it on many things but have never used it on wiper blades. So since we are going to be buying new blades for our truck, I will be doing this before putting them on. Thanks for the great videos!!! You may want to try their paste car wax too. It is the best on the market too. I have bought many different waxes over the years, and their wax is very good, easy to use, and even tho it is expensive to buy, it lasts so much longer than any other paste wax. Keep these kinds of videos coming. Some folks like me, doesn't like to throw their money away, this just helps me to conserve my money. Thanks!!!!

Using the packaging as a soak tray is excellent idea. I would not want to spray protectant on my windshield though, won't hurt it but just makes a mess to clean up. Just generously spray some protectant on a small, clean rag and gently go up and down the blade a few times.

    To: Sweet project cars,
I have a concern about spraying the rubber conditioner on the wipers while they're on the windshield, I've had some terrible troubles that turned out to be caused by a chemical saturated into paper towels, if used both inside and out it can cause a condition where in moist wet weather oncoming headlights will cause the car's windshield to light up nearly into end and you won't be able to see anything for all the light coming in, a very dangerous situation, especially on a turn! The Wax in automated carwashes can do the same thing!
It can take an extreme cleaning and a clay-bar
To clean the windshield enough that this effect no longer occurs
Has any rubber conditioner caused any effect similar to this on your windshields?
