It definitely looks a lot sharper and smoother in movement. However, I think it highlights how much the new visual style of NMH3 doesn't hold up as well compared to the previous games. It's hard for me to put into words, but NMH1 and 2 had a wonderfully stylised look in their art direction and use of shading. But this game feels like it's lost a certain beauty/charm that comes with the older character designs and those deep shadows.

The shadows were so sharp you could cut yourself on them, and rendering it in higher resolutions has only improved Killer7. Wow. I finally bought the first game on Switch like 3 days ago, not even knowing this version was coming out really soon. Edit: seems people misunderstood me. I had bought the ORIGINAL NMH on Switch, then 3 days later, I saw this video, and thought about how crazy that timing was.
I wish they put a bit more effort in the port. A good framerate is nice, but the PS5 can easily do so much more with the visuals. Some new assets would have been nice.
Amazing on the switch? Cmon man, nmh at least tried to mantain 60 fps in the battle segment unlike the overworld Unlike nier that just is 30 fps all the time and is soo slow, i like astral chain but that game was made in mind on the switch so i can't criticize so much

I’ve found myself playing with a pro controller on switch more often then not. Love the joy con controls but the game pad controls work pretty well too.

This is a Bad optimisation work on Switch (Switch runs dying light, nier autómata, tears of the kingdom, etc), ... PS5 looks better butt, the Game looks terrible ugly on it 3d visuals.
PS5 has a skybox that is way too bright, and the upscaling (and making everything more realistic through that) just makes the world look twice as empty lol, as well as removing some if the suda charm imo Or maybe I'm just pre-coping because ik I'm gonna have to get it on Switch just for those Joy-Con motion controls, who knows

I know it was originally made for the Switch so Suda and Grasshopper's vision couldn't be realized, but they really should have just made a mission structure similar to Desperate Struggle instead of 1 and prioritize performance over ideas.

But Suda was too ambitious with the limited budget and lack of experience with Unreal 4 and that's why they should have dailed it back. Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade, and Odyssey were built around performance over ideas and that's why they look good. This is taking a game that doesn't need to be open world and stretching it out and making it uglier than it is because it looks and plays fine when you're fighting in closed off levels

Sorry but if you thinks that NMH3 is an admirable work, you definitely either haven't played good games on Switch, or you just have very low quality standards, NMH3 is simply one of the ugliest game I've ever played.
higher textures and framrate are nice. But the artstyle is butchered with bloom, motion blur and some lighting changes that make it feel less cel shaded.
It's a shame because NMH3 had a lot of problems. Switch's ugly resolution and terrible framerate were just a few of its issues. It's not a very good NMH game to begin with and I doubt a performance increase / res boost will save it from mediocrity.

I'm sure the Nier Automata port took a lot of extra work and even then it'll just be: "It looks good.... for a switch port". Not saying it's a good thing, but with extra power you typically have to spend less time on optimizing everything and can focus more on the game itself.
They could have increased the walking NPC and traffic count on the sidewalk and roads.
