When I was a kid I idolized this big swede. I grew up a leafs fan but found out once he left to Van, that I was just a fan of Mats. Hope life is treating him well. Thanks for the pod boys!
Mats Sundin was the first player I ever recognized as a child watching the NHL, he was an absolute idol for me, introducing me to the sport of hockey and the Leafs. I owe a lot to Mats, including the reason why 13 is my favourite number. He will forever be my all time favourite player, and I was fortunate enough to meet him at the Toronto NHL All Stars fan fair where he signed my rookie cards of him. Very humble of a guy, his leadership, love for the game and his teammates, the countless iconic goals, his backhand and slap shot, his power with with the puck, he truly was a complete player. I will also be seeing him again next week for his book signing, only this time my dad will also get to meet him, and that is gonna be a special moment for me. I can’t thank him enough. Hopefully this time I won’t be as nervous! 🤣
I remember when Wendle Clark was traded to Quebec for Sundin and everyone was so sad in Toronto but I was so excited because I knew what an elite future Sundin would have. He's a legend and carried the team on his shoulders.
I was freaking out!! Wendel was my favourite player so I absolutely hated it. In hindsight it was a great deal. Fletcher's first tenre as gm of the Leafs was amazing.

Shesterkin is 100% one of those goalies you just know gonna be sick in the playoffs. That's a very short list right now with Bob and Vasy aging. An actual difference maker goalie, i would pay that man. Plus, having a nutty goalie in that Rangers jersey is sort of their brand now. If i see a Rangers goalie in the playoffs i know he's gonna be sick.
When Carey Price started his deal he was 31 years old, and they only got 3 years out of him. Shesterkin will be turning 30 about 2-3 months after the start of next season. Signing goalies that old to long term deals is always a bad idea. He is a good goalie, but he will not win the Rangers a cup by himself, they have too many other issues.
Potentially the 4th year IN A ROW the Oilers defense and goaltending have been in question on this podcast first 10 games of the season. Can't believe I listened to several minutes of analysis on this very same problem after Edmonton loses the B.O.A. to the Flames; arguably the best story in the NHL given their expectations and Gaudreaus death. The Oilers stroking has to stop. There's 82 games in the season, there will be plenty of time to talk about Edmonton once they deserve fans attention again.

The app listed the same goal 3 times (same time, same assists for all 3)! Useless. The NHL needs to focus on fixing the app instead of NFTs.

I’d like to see all of them on the pod more, but without RAs relatable degenerate sports fan lifestyle and wild goofy takes, it’s not gonna be the same. He represented the average sports fan who didn’t go pro or play super competitively. If they don’t wanna have RA on for interviews that’s fine, but he was a core part of the “shooting the shit” portions of the pod.
In regards to Shesty, my neighbor and I were chatting and he heard that it wasnt the money end, it was the length Shesty didn't like. Apparently he didn't want to get that long term a contract, I don't know. Just tellin ya what I heard.
