One of my favorite Code Geass memes comes from this episode. It's basically the shot at 13:24, with Shirley squaring off against Kallen in the costume, and it's just captioned "Code Geass: It's a show about terrorism." And yes, this episode basically contains an entire season's worth of fanservice.
People dislike the floof in code geass and claim it doesn’t fit the tone, but I love it. It’s hilarious and lightens up a story that would be way to heavy on the politics and intrigue without it. Giving us some breathing room and also just letting us spent off time with the cast. No one would care to much about half the people in the show without these episodes. Also the show makes sure to drop a bombshell on the viewer at the end of every one of these episodes so they still move the plot along
Agreed and those things really help since we see Lelouch and or Suzaku interacts and build a relationship with their friends making unseen events concerning their inner circle have more impact to them and the audience in general.
I've always maintained that even the darkest series needs lighter moments. It's the lighter and happier moments that give the darker moments their meaning. Would "Blood Stained Euphy" have as much meaning if we hadn't seen her with Suzaku, Lelouch and Nunnally? Would the Eclipse have its impact without all moments of camaraderie in Berserk? Things are only sad because we experience joy. If you want your audience to cry for a character, you need them to like the character. And that's part of what these episodes do. That's part of why I never consider these episodes filler. Something is being accomplished.
True. 1 filler episode in a 25 episode season is great ( and no way thats too much). It also fit the story nicely and back to main story at the end of the episode.
"What is that toy?" Cheese-kun, it was(and might still be) a mascot for Pizza Hut in Japan. There was a lot of Pizza Hut product placement in Code Geass.
Nunally hasn't had her memories tampered with to change the recent history. She's never known that Lelouch was Zero, and as far as she knows, he wasn't in the Tokyo Settlement when the Black Rebellion took place. They've probably been lying to her about his whereabouts these last few months (years?), But as far as she knows, her brother might've still been in the homeland or something since that's the last thing Lelouch told her.
Most importantly, since she is blind it is actually impossible for the Emperor to mess with her memories since his Geass requires eye contact just like Lelouch's Geass.
Ngl this season Suzaku >>> last season. He savage af. That play at the end was something Lelouch would pull. To test him by using Nunnally. Had Lelouch's face didnt turn around he wouldve been caught

This school actually bothers me, not the fan service or that’s it’s usually a war zone but how its structured when you consider the world building. It’s not just that the student council are more of a club with absolute control and not a comity with specified duties or elections (that I know of), since they are mostly at Milly’s mercy, but that they’re mostly based of Japanese school structure (which is obvious since it’s an anime) with mostly unsupervised clubs, festivals, Japanese styles food booths, and a student council that’s very active school activities since most western schools are at the mercy of administration. It could be that since Milly grandfather owns it she treats it like her playground but it feels a bit too much like Japanese schools which shouldn’t been a thing since Britannia occupation would suppress Japanese culture and influence. But they seem to have taken influence from Japanese schools especially with the already mentioned food booths and school festivals. My school experience was never that cool or memorable, most after school events were usually open house meetings and boring school gatherings.
I once had a fake economy project in my school. It was a once in 6 years type of thing where for a few days all the students took part in an economy and got fake bills from doing work (guarding stalls, selling food etc. and others), the upper classes ran news papers pretending this fake economy was real and such. It was honestly the only actually cool project that my two schools did. I think anime propagandize the coolness of the booths and such. There's no way a structured culture like Japan would have random stuff like this. It's probably all very protocol. A haunted classroom there, food booths here, restaurant in classroom over there. You know, typical things that are seen every time. I think the only reason they have justifying these types of festivals is that Milly has extreme power and is the principal's grand daughter. She basically does whatever she wants.
