Travel Tote for my Smash book, Journals and Day Planner

- I wanted to have all my supplies for my Smash Book, Day Planner and Journals all in one spot, plus I needed it to be portable, as I create in the evening away from my craft room. We also go to our cottage almost every weekend and was frustrated when I would forget something.
I put together this travel tote and hope it helps me keep more organized and not have my supplies all over the house ;)

I think this is such a great idea. I want to run to the nearest Sears store and get one! We are going on a road trip this summer and this would be perfect to take along in the car, so I can smash m trip while I'm in the Motel rooms, or at the resort. Thank you so much for all your great ideas. This isn't the first time that I have copied you! LOL!

great storage idea. I really like that storage bag. The photo cases are my favorite storage item in my craft room for organizing my items.

Hi Tracy.... I'm so excited! I went to sears yesterday and purchased my pink tote! Now I'm on my way to the craft room to start filling it up with goodies for a road trip! Thanks for the inspiration!

I am at the cabin right now and stuck inside because of rain and mosquitos. Boy do I wish I had you fun bag of goodies to play with. I can not wait to get home. The mosquitoes are so bad they really ruin the fun for me. I sure hope you don't have them were you go but you do have your fun bag of goodies to play with. LOL, yes, I go to our cottage every weekend in the summer and love to bring my supplies with me…even if they just sit there while I enjoy the sun and water, teehee.

Hello Tracy, i was browsing through the smash book videos and came across yours. I love it and have subscribed as well.
I haul all my "art supplies" around in messenger bags, so far that works for me and I am always on the move to different areas in the house working on something, even in bed! I live in NYC & PA and love the Craftsman carry/bin thingie and want to get a few for travel. What a wonderful idea. You have a new fan in NYC and I plan to spend this evening working on my Smash books and looking at more of your videos. You also have a nice "flow" with your narrative. :)

Ok, so I just saw this tote a few weeks ago in Sears hardware section and considered it for a crafting tote for the same reason you use yours....and then I passed. Thanks for this awesome video, seeing you use the same tote I considered confirmed that it would have worked wonderfully. Gotta go back and pick up one of these guys!

I am still using mine and am so happy I have it. It is perfect for travel or to have upstairs when I am away from my main craft space.

This is great! I like the little photo boxes you use. I was looking at some big cosmetic totes on Ebay last night and I thought how great would one of those be for craft organization. The big ones were kinda pricey, but it might be good solution for someone with limited space or that travels a lot.
Love it!! You just talked me into it Tracy, and I just made my purchase for one! First, I have a smaller caddy that is so flimsy, I'm always losing my things out of it; but how can you go wrong with a name like Craftsman?! I have no doubts as to how sturdy it will be, AND it's bigger than what I have, AND the price was VERY FAIR! Thanks for sharing and pointing me in the right direction! ~tina

But I do love to organize :)
I did get this from Sears, but have heard they can be found at other stores. It is a tool caddy, so places that sell tools may have them, so something similar :)

I am not sure. I use my Stampin Up markers.
But I think I mentioned I was going to put my Copic markers in here, but the container was to high.

Wow, you are so organized. When you get home from a trip do you leave your supplies in the tote or do you have to put everything away? What brand is your small paper cutter and where did you get it? I have a large Martha Stewart one and I just can't figure out how to get the cutting piece into it. So frustrating.

I journal in different areas of my home, so I just bring up my tote and I'm good to go :)
I have changed a few of the things I use in there....like I don't keep my twine in here anymore.
As for the small paper trimmer, I got it from Hobby Lobby...sadly they don't sell replacement blades, so I now only use it for slicing my washi tape thinner.
You are not much older than I am. But also young at heart ;)
A smash book is a book that is to be used for this and that. Movie tickets, receipts, things you pick up here and there.
Many use them like a scrapbook.
Look up smash books, you will be very inspired :)

I'm new you your chAnnel nice job. The cottage travelers bag is such awesome. The idea of of your cottage bag. We camped with the boys in southwest. Michigan. They at now 19 - 23 I wish id in the sight to. pull that togerher. May you could help me put together a smashbook . Just where to start.

As for the smash book. Just start :)
I had one book dedicated to travels..but we seem to travel to the same places, lol.
So this year I am challenging myself to do at least one page a month. So the pages/pictures will pertain to that month. At least then there will be something different on each page.
I was going to do a walk through of my travel smash book..we will see :)
Where did you find Those clear Boxes (with your stamping supplies) in your Craftsman tote? The pink and blue cases are photos cases from Michaels. Do I have that right? Seems like everything fits so well!
Yes the pink and blue are photo boxes from Michael's the clear cases are from Stampin Up. They carry wooden stamps.
Everything fits perfectly in here :)
