I bought a Jupiter X last Christmas and it continues to impress me. Being able to stack multiple synth engines to create HUGE sounds is revolutionary. You could effectively stack 4 Jupiter 8's giving up to 64 oscillators! That's CRAZY
Hey Steve, I am considering getting a Jupiter X. I tried one at Sam Ash today and found it a little tough to navigate. There are several videos by Roland but I can't find one to "get started" and explain the basic language of the synth. Like the first few in the series are missing. I have wanted a Prophet 5 and a Jupiter 8 since I was a little kid but getting a 35 year old piece of gear is not my bag. I got a Prophet 5 Rev4 and LOVE it. And the Jupiter X seems like it will bring great joy and even more usability.
I've owned probably 10 high end synths analogue and VA, Roland synths have a very musical and easy on the ears sound which fits really well into popular music I think. I don't have room for one or the $$ but I sure want one.
I bought one Tuesday this week! Absolutely love it. My only other synth is a KORG Prologue so it was very nice to be able to get piano, be able to make scenes with rhythm while also playing a nice bass with the Jupiter or a lead with the SH-101... I LOVE IT!
looking at a computer is annoying. You don't build anything with Lego on your computer, do you? i own a roland fantom 8 their flagship . and maybe I'll buy this one too.
@@arnoldkamp1 got a Jupiter Xm, it's arriving tomorrow (I hope!). Don't really have a lot of space and I'm not a very good player, it's enough to me to play some simple melodies. I'm already familiar with some boutiques so I know enough about synthesis, sequencing etc. Once I've learned enough and perfected my skills with it, I'll use my good ol' keystation 61 and play more notes at the same time!
They are rare it seems, hard to find in stock. I ordered one in december and was told they won't have it until February, can't wait to play it. Sounds excellent.......
So here's a question to burn some noodles all these months later (now that the Juno-X has also been released). Anyone think that the tag team combination of the Jupiter-X and the Juno-X make the ultimate Retro-Modern Roland combo right now? Or is there too much overlap because of the Zen Core on each? Yes, I'm a Roland fanboy - no shame in stating it, haha.
Because of Zencore, they're both basically the same. Juno has a lot less hands on control is really the only difference. Roland has re-packaged the same for too many years.
Very much overlap! The Jupiter-X has more direct controls compared to the Juno-X. I think the Jupiter-X features the Jupiter engines, where the Juno-X features the Juno engines, and the rest are the same (SH, XV, RD), so it is more about your personal preferences. Does not make sense to have them both, I think. I have the Jupiter-Xm and it is a great and portable instrument!
You can get a good five octave midi keyboard from Nektar and run UHE Diva and you will be able to do everything the Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 was able to do.

As awesome and luscious the JP-X looks and sounds too... I hope you went with the Hydra Deluxe. I had the JP-X but returned it cause I realized I could've just gotten the Zenology plug-in for like $230, which is the same thing the synth uses. Get the plug-in, get a great midi controller for it, and stack up your layers with FX for massive sounds. Budget JP-X right there. I would've kept the JP-X if it had unique features differed from the software, like maybe analog parts such as filters. Imho, the synth is an overpriced mapped midi-controller with RGB and a steel body. I'd only get it if I were to be a touring musician in a band and refrain myself from using computers (but ironically you'll need to keep it updated for extra stuff on the long run either way). You'll just end up getting it for it's flashiness. It be reasonable to get it if it weren't over $2k.
