Todun Olusola The iPhone 6Plus screen looks damn good ( my sister has one). I was able to compare it to my 6P's screen. It was way brighter than my phone, and the picture quality was good. However, I can watch videos in 60fps, the iPhone can't. LED backlight (retina display) screens are beasts none the less.
Well, if you watched the video you'll know that it isn't the same. plus do update your Mate 7 (if you did not) through Huawei's Update site of your country. My P8 Lite just got smoother after each update
ArtifexIV Supposedly the Mate 9 has some type of machine or software learning that's supposed to make the phone stay as smooth as the first day you bought it for up to 18 months though. This is why I am interested in a long term review. I never keep my phone that long anyway so as long as it would be that fast for a year I will definitely be purchasing it.
ArtifexIV, I had a stock mobile back in 2012 which had mid range specs. That got slow just in 6 months while my Huawei P8 Lite is more than a year old and still running fast
Is it just me or has TechnoBuffalo gone through so many changes when it comes to the way they make their videos over the last two years, that it has just become difficult to know what to expect from them? I get changing things up, but sometimes a little consistency also helps. For example, channels like The Verge (after the redesign and restructure), MrMobile, MKBHD and MrWhoseTheBoss. There channels are great 👍🏼 TechnoBuffalo was the channel that got me into watching tech videos on UA-cam, but recently I found they are struggling to find their place amongst the general UA-cam tech community.
Matthew Jardine Yup, just before I watched this video, I watched the one on Intel alloy. Do you listen to what they actually say? It's like they have brains of shit. Their actual scripts are mentally ill..
James Davern I don't really see what you mean. The reviewer did a decent job on that video. Also, they had great reviews of the Google Pixel, the 2016 MacBook Pro and the Note 7 a little while ago.
James Carlyle Well, for me, when I pick up my phone, my index finger is already there where the fingerprint scanner is, so it's actually quite convenient.
Absolutely back place, smaller chin, index finger already on fingerprint scanner when you pick it up. But.. if you are unlocking phone on the table most of the time, than front place.
i love this phone. the camera issues you describe are mostly Leica specs. Leica users love grain in low light. there is special effects that Leica users love. but the battery is what sold me. why can not all flagship phones have huge batteries. they have the space
I was running the android 7 beta on my p9 and the software was exactly like this. I was very impressed, my p9 is fantastic so this is going to be amazing. This is coming from a nexus fanboy believe it or not, good job on the review
Tested the phone out and it feels amazing to touch and feels really good quality. While its big, its barely bigger than the iphone 7 plus or note 5. The screen still looks pretty awesome (way better than my 720p screen, even though the 720p screen is amoled). Emui 5.0 is alright, but i will surely either download the google now launcher, or another launcher with a google pixel icon pack. I'm still hoping for the day where people can freely download stock android on a phone officially without needing to flash a custom rom. I like features, but i still prefer either stock android or the google pixel skin
Hi Ron, thanks for this review. I'm really looking forward to more reviews about the Huawei Mate 9, particularly the camera. I'm just distracted by the dreamy effect of your video. It's better if you enhanced the look of your film than making it less contrasty and foggy. It doesn't give justice to the screen of the phone. And I also noticed that the screen protector (not sure if it comes with the box) isn't too good, I see some rainbow effect which is annoying especially if it will reflect under direct sunlight. Lastly, when you compare this smartphone with "other smartphones out there", please be more direct in naming which specific models so we would know which smartphones you were comparing this to. Thanks again!
please stop filming smartphone reviews outdoors ( atleast the b-rolls). There is so much reflection and shift in colour tones that its impossible to get a good idea of what the display will look like irl. Thanks
yesss please revisit this phone in abt month or so.. I just wish u could have the option of taking away emui and just keep vanilla Android only skin I like is oxygen OS frm 1+
impresive phone.. but i will wait 6more months before buying any new phone!!! currently i have moto x original. any sugesstions which one should i buy?range is $250
hi . I just bought my new Huawei mate9 on June 29 however the phone battery is not staying that long approx 7 hours and it became hot also while I'm not using it all the time . pls advice how could I fix this ?
Guys. I need help. I can't decide whether to buy Oppo R9S Plus or Huawei Mate 9. I take the specs very seriously and both of this are equally attractive and both are powerful. But which one should I buy? I love both of it! Help me!
please make a follow up video, im really thinking of buying it :) also can you please make a comparison video between it and the iPhone7 and the Google Pixel :)
I would have preferred if the other guy reviewed it. He's more technical and experienced whereas this guys handles his reviews in a more personal manner.
Please do revisit to check performance. Mate 8 was the overall best phone I've used so far, even better than the Pixel XL. V20 is just $hit. The OP3's cam & Batt aren't great. I'm now awaiting my Mate 9 to be delivered to me next week.
Phone review with zero mention of call clarity. Thanks for all the info but why don't you guys ever just show us the experience of the device doing the top things that most people use them for? I would imagine most people use for (in no particular order) messaging, gaming, phone calls, web browsing, pictures (taking, sharing and viewing), listening to music, email. Show us how the phones hardware/software handles these tasks it would be very helpful.
Rafi K it really depends on eyes. Trust me. Go to developer mode and turn that 60fps line on and you will know what I am saying. Even pixel drop frames here and there.
still waiting for the "after the hype" or however you call it video about this phone... like all your thoughts and how much it actully lags after using it a couple of months or at least weeks- please!!!!! get it done!!!!!! pleaaaase!
Parth Sharma since the phone is using a Kirin processor and not snapdragon you won't get custom roms. no Huawei phone with the Kirin processor have custom roms because Huawei won't tell them about the processor.
"Some of you may have wanted a 2k display, for me 1080p is more than good enough" Why do so many phone reviews not understand resolution? 2K IS 1080, it just refers to the number of horizontal pixels instead of vertical, so an 'HD 1080' display with the standard 16:9 aspect ratio will have 1920 horizontal pixels (2K). People need to stop using the cinema terms 2K and 4K altogether, you all clearly don't understand it, call the different resolutions 720, 1080, 1440, and UHD. Don't say 'quad HD' for 1440, don't say 2K at all, don't say 4K for UHD unless it actually is 4K (a slightly bigger, wider cinema standard). So the original statement is just wrong, and it's not just this guy's fault, you will hear this shit all the time with tech youtubers, and everyone just copies each other.
Omega Blaze well yes obviously 1440 is better, but that's not called 2K. And people need to stop adding the p after resolutions. No one's making interlaced only displays so there's no need to differentiate that it's progressive scan. To be fair, my V10 is 1440 and I can't tell a detail difference over 1080 phones I've seen like the plus iPhones. But maybe the 5.9" of the mate pushes the ppi a bit too far.
Some people have a problem with black bezels and others don't. Buy it in the Black version and this issue won't come up. Even iPhone has black borders around it so it's not only Huawei thou!!
not impresed at all with any Huawei phone this year, only honor 8 is priced right. mate 9, same as pixels is an overpriced phone. this trend with pricing in Q4 2016 is really strange and worries me.
Goran Petrovic I agree. waited all year long for what Google had to offer only to be let down because I'm not fond of the price. Decided to go with the One Plus 3T (when it becomes available) definitely the best bang for your buck Android phone of 2016. arguably it just may be the best phone of 2016.
Nobody ever mentions the IR blaster. It's such an underrated and useful feature to have.
Sully Mems what does it do I never know
cocomonkey0737 it lets you use your phone as a remote to control your TV.
Sully Mems and yes it is a great feature had it on the first original lg flex and I've really miss it.
Sully Mems product
i use it to annoy the teacher in school by turning on the projector with my phone. I also can use it to control my self built robots xD
I like to watch videos of things i can't afford
same here
dela vago lol me too
Muhammad Rezky 😂😂😂😂😁
Watch all the apple product trailers and review
Ahoy matie lol was watching a review for the new Macbook pros. The pain man 😔
remember when any phone over 5'' was called a Phablet? and now it's just a phone.
good times man, good times
I hate when people hate on 1080P displays, like damn its still an amazing screen.
They're really not. Especially when they aren't AMOLED. Cheap companies being cheap.
Omega Blaze what do you think of the 1080P iPhone 7 plus display? I think it looks good.
***** It looks good, yeh, but it doesn't compare to the S7 edge, and the s7 edge is cheaper.
Plus the s7 edge is daydream ready.
Todun Olusola true
Todun Olusola The iPhone 6Plus screen looks damn good ( my sister has one). I was able to compare it to my 6P's screen. It was way brighter than my phone, and the picture quality was good. However, I can watch videos in 60fps, the iPhone can't. LED backlight (retina display) screens are beasts none the less.
Huawei Mate 9 performance review and tell us if the phone is smooth as new after 6 months of usage
S Tech I second this!
Well, if you watched the video you'll know that it isn't the same. plus do update your Mate 7 (if you did not) through Huawei's Update site of your country. My P8 Lite just got smoother after each update

Nope, not the nexus. But still was running Stock Android. It was a chinese Phone but had stock Android running

James Davern Have you seen their latest stuff?
Matthew Jardine Yup, just before I watched this video, I watched the one on Intel alloy. Do you listen to what they actually say? It's like they have brains of shit. Their actual scripts are mentally ill..
James Davern I don't really see what you mean. The reviewer did a decent job on that video. Also, they had great reviews of the Google Pixel, the 2016 MacBook Pro and the Note 7 a little while ago.
I feel like the only reason a fingerprint sensor should be on the back is so that you can have dual front facing stereo speakers?
James Carlyle Well, for me, when I pick up my phone, my index finger is already there where the fingerprint scanner is, so it's actually quite convenient.
Absolutely back place, smaller chin, index finger already on fingerprint scanner when you pick it up.
But.. if you are unlocking phone on the table most of the time, than front place.
James Carlyle you can use scroll feature if it's on the back
Yes, I definitely want to know about this phone in the future
I'm surprised that this is just as big as the iPhone 6s+ even with that bigger screen and battery.
Zach Inverse apple has gigantic bezels
Why put up with Eomtion UI? Just use Nova or sth along those lines.
is it just me or the video looks really hazy or like the contrast is really low?
Muh Iqomatul Haq maybe cause reviewer dont using highest brightness on Mate 9 screen.
Muh Iqomatul Haq naw your right , its like he used the FADE filter ,
i love this phone. the camera issues you describe are mostly Leica specs. Leica users love grain in low light. there is special effects that Leica users love.

Such a well-rounded review. Kudos to Ron. ;-)
Storage? SD card slot?
The video color grading tho. What did the editor guy did to this?
Jake Mix It's Ron, the guy who reviewed this.
Tested the phone out and it feels amazing to touch and feels really good quality. While its big, its barely bigger than the iphone 7 plus or note 5. The screen still looks pretty awesome (way better than my 720p screen, even though the 720p screen is amoled).

Revisit the Mate 9? Heck yeah!!
please stop filming smartphone reviews outdoors ( atleast the b-rolls). There is so much reflection and shift in colour tones that its impossible to get a good idea of what the display will look like irl. Thanks
Sudarshan Mukunth well it would be fine and clear if it was an amoled display. lcd is horrible outdoors.
yesss please revisit this phone in abt month or so.. I just wish u could have the option of taking away emui and just keep vanilla Android only skin I like is oxygen OS frm 1+
Definitely would like to see a follow up. Curious to see how the phone manages power after a few months of use.
I'm sorry but Technobuffalo really need to step it up when it comes to video production, the way this video was edited and presented was horrible.
Am I presenting a high quality tech channel??
bshxh rekt lol
Now I really feel bad for buying iPhone 6s+.
Definitely would want to see a follow up video regarding it's performance as it ages
Could techno buffalo get hold of the Eve V early to review?? Supposed to be the Surface killer
2019 and running android pie. This phone stays fast!
Should i wait for the p10?
Will this work on Sprint's network. I want to buy a phone at retail this year. No more payment plans.
where to buy from?
apparently there's a pretty big update that improves the camera performance. can you update on that?
link to buy ?
does it support t-mo's Wi-Fi calling ?
I had use more than 1 year, battery is good, it is still very smooth and fast
how does it compare to P9 Plus?
Can you use this in the US?
does it come with the spyware preinstalled?
My current phone is galaxy note 3, any recommendations to my next phone or do anyone advise me to buy this phone.
impresive phone.. but i will wait 6more months before buying any new phone!!! currently i have moto x original. any sugesstions which one should i buy?range is $250
hi . I just bought my new Huawei mate9 on June 29 however the phone battery is not staying that long approx 7 hours and it became hot also while I'm not using it all the time . pls advice how could I fix this ?
when is this phone out for sale ???
Guys. I need help. I can't decide whether to buy Oppo R9S Plus or Huawei Mate 9. I take the specs very seriously and both of this are equally attractive and both are powerful. But which one should I buy? I love both of it! Help me!
does it have dual SIM and SD card slot?
how does this camera compare to the pixel camera experience?
Does it have any other camera features like slow motion.
Did you shoot this in a cloud?
When does this phone hit the market? I've yet to see a site that sells this phone.
Johnny Wishbonn Newegg.com
please make a follow up video, im really thinking of buying it :) also can you please make a comparison video between it and the iPhone7 and the Google Pixel :)
can we see what's the device multitasking capabilities
what's wrong with the screen, I see rainbows.
Top Dawg reflection. only camera can see.
That's just how their camera picks up light coming from the screen. In real life you do not see this.
He's probably using a circular polarising filter. In that case, what you'd be seeing is the cross polarisation with the LCD. :)
Funny how those comments have been written in a easy-to-complex manner.
It's the pre installed screen protector. It comes with it on right out of the box.
I would have preferred if the other guy reviewed it. He's more technical and experienced whereas this guys handles his reviews in a more personal manner.
So how was the video recording performance?
Rachi Siders Trash. That's why it's not shown.
Great, one of the best for video recording.
JZ VR well he surely didn't seem so thrilled about it as to not even mention it.
is it just me, or does he sound like scarce in this when he says "the screen is super super awesome"
Definitely do an after the buzz video!
It's been a while now ... what's your final verdict on this phone?
Hey dude, this guy can actually notice subtle differences and imperfection on picture/camera, beside Apple product of course.
It would be nice to see the long term of the oi cause it would give us a way to see how it is different from just pure android
Please do revisit to check performance. Mate 8 was the overall best phone I've used so far, even better than the Pixel XL. V20 is just $hit. The OP3's cam & Batt aren't great. I'm now awaiting my Mate 9 to be delivered to me next week.
Anyone got any review on the machine learning algorithm of the Mate 9? Im curious with this feat of the device
What's with the brightness?? That is too low!
It's cause he's outdoors. This phone has one of the brightest screens around.
I can tell but, still!! It's too low. Maybe because it is a LCD panel. My phone is way better and it's a year old.
Amey Purohit 600 candela
Erdem Han mine is 861
Amey Purohit be happy my friend
I've been using the LG Stylo 2 for almost two months,Great Phone. But Phones like this just make you wonder damn I how much better can cellphones get.
Big fan Ron! Keep up dem good vids
I wonder when will Huawei Software Update their P8Max which has 4360 battery and will Android 7 improve it battery life and camera

Is there any dropframe or stutter in the UI?
Rafi K it really depends on eyes. Trust me. Go to developer mode and turn that 60fps line on and you will know what I am saying. Even pixel drop frames here and there.
amazing gorgeous smartphone😍
2:01 - definitely not shying away from the truth there haha.
Huawei spoke about a machine learning algorithm built in this phone.. would like to know if it's effective in the long run.
Very effective. Rocking it from release to now and on android pie
Why this video is so foggy?
still waiting for the "after the hype" or however you call it video about this phone... like all your thoughts and how much it actully lags after using it a couple of months or at least weeks- please!!!!! get it done!!!!!! pleaaaase!
if there is any developer support, u can wait for CyanogenMod 14 rom,i bet u will love it.
Parth Sharma CM is sooooo dull
Parth Sharma since the phone is using a Kirin processor and not snapdragon you won't get custom roms. no Huawei phone with the Kirin processor have custom roms because Huawei won't tell them about the processor.

mate 9 > iPhone 7 plus
Add a 1440p res and S amoled screen and I'm sold. Not going backwards in res after having it the last 2 years.
Can you guys do a xioami mix review
you can compare the camera against the Pixel and the V20
hey TechnoBuffalo
Reviews,Reviews but when will this be released in the U.S.!!
hey Ron why not start your own UA-cam channel ? your style is in any case very different from other Technobuffalo videos
Nails, dude, NAILS!
good review mate
Why did they not include B13 LTE. Makes it useless for anyone on Verizon which is the most popular provider in the United States.
yes revisit it after 2months . hi ron
no point in coming back in a few months for this phone as the mate 10 will be out as they dont keep thier flagships for long
Jeremy Cush Facts.
The release cycle for the Mate and P series is a year, just like many other major brands.
LightYagami100000 lol
when Ron edits all the videos and make them too
not impresed at all with any Huawei phone this year, only honor 8 is priced right. mate 9, same as pixels is an overpriced phone. this trend with pricing in Q4 2016 is really strange and worries me.
Goran Petrovic I agree. the pixel phones are way too pricey !
Goran Petrovic I agree. waited all year long for what Google had to offer only to be let down because I'm not fond of the price. Decided to go with the One Plus 3T (when it becomes available) definitely the best bang for your buck Android phone of 2016. arguably it just may be the best phone of 2016.
Goran Petrovic the only op mate 9 is the porsche design tbh.
EKFiPod the 3T is an excellent choice. I an openly recommending it to all my friends on a tighter budget
Dhruv Bhatnagar for sure, but what about its battery life and relative performance and speed?? I dont know its exact specs so please tell me😃
why the screen is so dark
One of the best phone going

I wait for Huawei 9 vs
Why oh why can't Huawei be bigger in the US? :(
is the phone overpriced as of its chinese counterpart like le eco
debasish pradhan yeah men the price is high ,i prefer oneplus 3 ....
me too
this is much better than leeco
mate9 camera is alot better than 1+3
