  • Jerry shows us the proper revolver technique. A lot of this knowledge can also apply to semi-automatic pistols & handguns as well. He also shows us the differences between the weaver & isosceles techniques.

      His skills are only attainable from decades of high quality training and not just out a shootin.

      Revolvers -are- old by todays standards, not quite to the degree of comparing to a muzzleloader but they have been long eclipsed by automatic pistols nonetheless. Back in 1800s revolvers were the gun of the norm, these days their practicality is limited to just huge calibers and hunting.

      @@buliwyf3236 granted he is wrong about them going full auto, it's not full auto it's a result of handing an inexperienced shooter a double action with powerful recoil, it's generally recommended that a person's first time with a cartridge like 500 s&w you give them one round and leave the rest of the cylinder empty so that if it goes flying the worst case scenario is a getting hit with the gun and not a bullet meant for killing large and dangerous game. When I got to the range, I went from shooting 3/5 hitting a 8 inch target at 21 feet ( CCW requirement for my state), to putting 18/20 in a 4 inch pattern. I shoot a Taurus Judge Public Defender...first shot I did my old way, last shot I tried the dual action...just not used to that yet. lol Anyway, my shooting improved immensely!!!! This is an amazing video. You've thought this out so well and put it into words so well, it's like you've founded your own martial art. And speaking of martial arts, while the Weaver stance is closer to martial arts stances, traditional martial arts generally are not centered on a gun. A knife or sword, or staff, yes. The power for those weapons, or for feet and fists, comes from the body. The power in a gun comes from an explosion of gunpowder. So the body is not needed to propel the bullet, best to get it out of the way of the shot. But it is still very much a Zen sport we have here, so body mechanics are still crucial to top performance. They're just very different than those for traditional martial arts. You're not throwing a kick, you're pointing a weapon.

    My mom just got a .38 revolver. J frame. And I was showing her how to hold it. I wasn't too familiar with the holding of a small framed revolver like that. So I guessed and told her to wrap her left thumb over and behind the right thumb. Then I go to this video and sure enough that's what he said to do. So I now feel confident that I'm knowledgeable enough to teach her how to shoot.

      So you guessed something and got it right and now you feel knowledgeable? Hahaha!

    • @JoshuaBurton110213
      @JoshuaBurton110213 9 років тому

      Well Idk how else to put it. Basically what Im saying is I made an educated guess about something and what I do know paid off. I am still learning about firearms but I also feel like I have a pretty good understanding of them.

    • @erikbush6224
      @erikbush6224 9 років тому +4

      Joshua Burton For sure, dude. Just make sure you make an educated guess and then research and make sure your info is correct before you give said advice to someone, you know? It's good that you're learning but if you accidentally take an educated guess and you're wrong, you could be putting someone else's safety at risk so just bare that in mind and make sure the advice you give is solid before you give it so you're not potentially giving dangerous advice to someone thinking it is good advice. Too many people take guessing and end up hurt you know! Just gotta make sure you handle a firearm safely and responsibly so no one ends up hurt!

    • @barahng
      @barahng 8 років тому +1

      +Joshua Burton (Scientific Spartan) You should still always do research! As many have stated in this comment section thus far; you never stop learning, and you can never learn too much. You do sound like you have common sense, which can never hurt. However there are some things that just aren't as intuitive as your example.

    • @JoshuaBurton110213

      Hell yeah. I'm always reading or watching something about firearms. Today I watched a video about rimfire vs centerfire. Lol. I've known about the difference for a long time but I like to hear what other people say about them. So I apply that to everything and BAM you get a well rounded idea about the subject.
      Now my mom carries a Glock 43 in a kydex holster. Couldn't be more proud of her. Haha.

    Great videos. There is a little bit of a distance between the two of you guys, but I think that you and Hickok45 should get together and do some videos. The two of you guys are who I get all my information from. If I am looking to buy a gun a go to his channel to see what he thinks of it and then I come to your channel to get the proper shooting techniques and try to apply them when I go to my local range. Thank you for passing your knowledge on.
