squad depth is also important. We have champions league, premier league, league cup, FA cup, if we have to go at it we need everyone of those defenders.
Ben white is undroppable for me. He’s one of a few players who are just vital for our system. Even if there’s more talented players in his position like timber, white just hard as nails and gets the most out of Saka / odegaard too. The battle is with timber and califiori for left back. Gonna be a interesting one this season but they’ll all get minutes in different positions / different games
I fear that Califiori may replace Gabriel. A situation similar to Ramsdale. Between Ramsdale and Raya the classic attributes of a goalkeeper Ramsdale is personally better for me. However Raya brings different qualities that benefit the whole team. It may be similar with Gabriel/califiori. Gabriel is our best defender from a classic view, however the combination of Saliba and Califiori with their technical and ball carrying abilities may be super attractive to Arteta
I think Calafiori has to be our long term permanent LB. Hes almost like Ben White on the left. Sort out LCM aswell then our left hand side will be dangerous like the right

The disrespect to Ben White by some fans. :/ He's been consistently one of our best players for the past few seasons. Always puts in a shift, rarely drops a clanger and offers us an attacking threat with how well he combines with Saka. I think Timber is a quality signing but he needs to earn that spot and prove he deserves to be there. Timber/Califiori (LB), Saliba (CB), Gabriel (CB) , White (RB) for me but the amount of flexibility we have with these options is very encouraging.
