    I bought a Eachine Spitfire as my first RC plane in 50 years. It has been a fantastic introduction to the hobby. In beginner mode it is really easy to fly if a little on the quick side. In intermediate, it flies much sharper allowing you to perform aerobatics safely. In expert it is interesting! As an aside, has anyone bound any eachine or similar 400mm planes to a FlySky FS-16x. Think of upgrading in the future.

    Based on your review I bought one. No regrets! It is fun on beginner and a tiger on gyro off as you point out. I have switched to my Radiomaster and it made a world of difference. Thanks!

      Did you do any adjustments on the servos? I have it connected to my radiomaster but unlike the Volantex p51 mustang (which flies perfect without stabilizing on) it’s hard to fly the spitfire. Any suggestions or maybe you can share your settings? Thx and I hope I’ll hear from you.

      @@meshall9586 The only change Made was to set the expo on elevator and ailerons to 60%. That was it. It's perfect for me.

      Alright, thx a lot. On the p51 I run 30%expo on all services and set a switch for high (100%) mid (80%) and low (70%) rates. If the wind calms down I give it another try using your settings. Cheers and keep flying.

    I have an eachine p51 and me109 they are fantastic flying machines, the aileron servo has seized solid on the 109, I ordered a new one and thought I would have to remove the wings to get at the control board until I watched this video, thanks for the information easy to remove and fix.

    Great review and good recording. I know how hard it is to fly and record video at the same time. You can see on my channel. I also noticed the elliptical wings tend to tip stall at slow speed. Not just the V761 scale models but the 1200mm Dynam taught me the hard way ! I converted an Eachine p51 to a Spitfire some months before they announced its release and have some 2000 views already! Good luck with your channel and thanks for a very clear review.

    • @Longsheep
      @Longsheep  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the kind words good sir! Yeah the Spitfire does tend to have tip stalling tendencies at slow speeds whether big or small. Never flew the Dynam but I wouldn't be surprised if it has tendencies like that too.
      Great work on the convert! I don't have the skills to do something like that :)
      I'm using the insta 360 v2 clipped onto my hat for the flight footage, would probably be clearer with a bigger plane, lol.

    The comment about the difference between the Volantex and Eachine versions of this is interesting in the light of the Eachine Mini Bf-109 (released earlier) being shown to have some flight board glitches - though the new Eachine Mini Spitfire seems to have gone back to the more reliable older style V76105 board (with minor layout adjustments for screw mounting.) The ease of maintenance additions and the better wheels are very welcome upgrades even if adding slightly more weight. The 3-bladed prop looks nice but will be much more easily broken than the 2-blader.

    • @Longsheep
      @Longsheep  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the insight into the difference between the Volantex and Eachine version! I had concerns regarding the durability and balance of the three bladed prop too but it has held up a lot better than I thought it would- I’m still on my first prop though I’ve cracked the hub section thanks to one of my less-than-perfect “landings”… was concerned about the balance too but I must say that the prop exceeded my expectations.
      Heard the Volantex BF109 will be different to the Eachine version too… can’t wait!

    Nice review, as usual James. As a Kiwi myself, I'm glad they've done Al Deere's one, although I also approved of the Eachine "Johnnie" Johnson one, and it prompted me to re-read JEJ's excellent book "Wing Leader".
    I do wish both vendors would bring out BNF versions of this plane, and all their others though. We can now fly them with our multi protocol transmitters, which is a much better flying experience and saves the waste and burden on the planet of forcing people to buy those toy transmitters with them.

    • @Longsheep

      Kia ora! Fellow kiwi here, spent the majority of my childhood in Auckland but eventually life took me elsewhere :( Will have to take a look at the book you mentioned! Volantex is kind enough to sell me BNFs when I buy planes from them, I'll suggest that they sell BNFs too.. yeah don't want to see the txs go to waste! Fingers crossed they'd listen!

      @@Longsheep Great! I don't think I realised you were a Kiwi. I am a Christchurch boy, although living in exile now in Melbourne.
      It's strange about the BNF versions. Once upon a time nearly all the RTF micro planes sold on Banggood, such as the WLToys F929/39, F959 etc used to be sold as BNFs as well, and with excellent parts support. I miss those days!

      Great eye for detail! That's right the early Spitfires didn't have the 6 exhausts on each side. Not sure on availability just yet, I did hear that it would cost very slightly more than Bg's version :(

Plus BG usually doesn't make any effort to protect items they ship, but just puts a plastic bag around it, so often things arrive with damage to the original packaging, and sometimes its contents.

    Awesome fly James! Great to see how well you manage to fly this mini Spitfire. I was about to get mini versions as my first flight too, but confusing whether to go for Spitfire or P51D. From your personal preference of handling both, which one would give you best flight experience? Appreciate your idea on this James, thanks! I'm just total beginner in this RC plane hobby btw.

    • @Longsheep
      @Longsheep  Рік тому

      Thanks for the comment! The P51D is a lot more predictable in flight and its a lot easier to see under the tree line. I think the Spitfire might be a good plane to get after the Mustang if you like both!

  • @kveecock

    Nice review and great flying. The only point I would challenge is that this model is a good scale replica. Although it does do a good job of looking like a spitfire if you compare it to any photos or even other scale models untouched will notice that the wings are significantly too far back, making the aircraft look a bit “squashed”. This was the only disappointment for me when I got my eachine version of the spitfire. At least volantex have gone for more of a “mark 1 / Battle of Britain “ look - I had to repaint and redo the markings on mine!

    • @Longsheep
      @Longsheep  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Yeah so I think I need to make it clearer that it's more scale in comparison to other aircraft in its class... I think it can be considered sport scale maybe?

    Great video, thanks. First time I've seen anyone fly one of these warbirds inverted. I've got the SonikRC version which must be the same as it has the same paint scheme. Just waiting for the chance to fly it. I have the eachine 109 and have had issue with the fight controller so might swap it out once the new aileron servo arrives from Banggood (it basically doesn't recognise that the aileron servo is plugged in so reverts to 3 channel control). Also in expert mode it doesn't switch off the gyros but Banggood said this is how it's supposed to be so new flight controller should fix this.

    • @Longsheep

      Thanks! I hope you'll like the Spitfire as much as I do. Apart from a few quirks it's a really well rounded aircraft for the money.
      I heard about all the drama with the 109, not sure why they went with the different board when the original one worked so well. Yup it seems the gyro on in expert mode thing is what others with the 109 report too... Same programming as the F22/F16 perhaps?

    now i am wondering of the 400mm eachine/Volantex they're still selling with the 2 blade props like the p-51's are the older throw away versions. at one time i was going to order one until i learned that you have to cut the plane into pieces if you want to try and replace a bad motor. ironically of all the 400mm eachine/Volantex videos i've watched you are the only person to mention the design change making it possible to now change the motors. guess the only safe thing to do is make sure you get one of the 3 blade planes........

    • @Longsheep
      @Longsheep  Рік тому

      I think there's a V2 version of the P51, Super Cub and F4U now, so those definitely have the design change that you've mentioned. Everything else that came after that had the access ports.. so maintenance shouldn't be a problem. Yeah definitely want to steer away from the old P51, F4U and Cub as they were really hard to maintain.
