I totally understand where you are coming from. I am finishing up my first semester too, and it has been incredibly hard, in more than one way. I feel like no one really tells you how big of an adjustment it is going to be. But we got this girl!
COMPLETELY understand where you are coming from. My first year of college was a complete failure but I passed thankfully along with my gpa going down big time. I've learned to adjust eventually and figured out time management is KEY. Especially for homework and studying, I learned that I had to study differently and take notes differently (rather than writing everything the professor projected or said down) in order to succeed and get better grades on exams or tests. My first test for example for life development was a 58, my history 2 was a 68 and my stats was also a 68. But I changed how I managed my time and decided if I want to be a nurse, have the best gpa and grades to get accepted then Im going to have to sacrifice my social life and fun sometime. Don't get me wrong its okay to take a break from school work but not to the point where it completely distracts you from your future. After making those major changes with studying habits and note habits.. by the end of this semester my gpa went from a 2.9 to a 3.3 because my changes equaled to me getting better letter grades on exams. It takes time to adjust to college and its workload but you'll figure it out girl.
I am a sophomore at a D2 school, and wanted to let you know it gets easier! the first semester is always the hardest since your adjusting! and never take 2 sciences, maths whatever it may be in the same semester! good luck girl!
Thank you for this Lauren! I am a freshman pre-med too and college has been such an adjustment for me. It’s so comforting to hear about your experience. I love your videos so much and can’t wait for the rest of your 25 days!
I'm incoming freshman this June (because I live in the Philippines) and I find this video of yours so interesting and encouraging. I really love you videos especially all the college related stuff. Keep on doing this kind of talks. You are an inspiration! ♥
omg I've been on your channel for so long, and so many of the girls I'm subscribed to sort of stopped uploading when they got to college which is totally understandable but I remember thinking omg i hope lolobeautyxx doesn't stop and I'm so glad youre still enjoying youtube and its acting as a stress reliever rather than creating stress :). Your dedication is so inspiring! you got this. xoxo
Lauren, I struggled with this a lot in hs since I took a lot of APs and honors classes. im going into college this year. sometimes the stress just isn't worth it. maybe consider business as a major or area of study? Its a lot "easier" than pre-med. plus you'd get a. job out of college ; ). we got this!!
i loved this video, and definitely feel like i've learned a lot more about what to expect. i just finished submitting my common app yesterday. i would love to see more videos in the future about college as these types of videos truly help me with what to expect this fall.
In the same boat right now sis, first term was the hardest thing I have experienced. No idea what I am doing either and thats hard to accept. Everything does fall into place in the end! Love you!
Hey gurl, just wanted to say that as a fellow first year in uni this year I FEEL YOU! Going into my first term of uni in the fall was ridiculously difficult for me, and I spent a lot of time feeling overwhelmed and as if I wasn't "doing university right". I 100% agree about how the increased work load was crazy to adapt to, and it sounds like both of us spent many nights studying for hours on end! Just wanted to say that hearing your story really spoke to me as not many people are brave enough to share the struggles and challenges that they are facing. We just gotta keep grinding away one step/one assignment/one day at a time right? :). Keep up the awesome work - I know that we can both kick some butt this year!
Couldn’t agree more girl, the reality of college is not pretty sometimes. I’m in my second year of nursing and there are times when I feel so overwhelmed and everything feels impossible to finish... it’s stressful.
I’m really late to this, but I am kind of going through the same thing! I started college this year, and even though I am still living at home... I am NEVER home. It is really tough to balance everything out. I really enjoy your videos, I’m glad I found your channel!❤️
I just finished my first semester in college also, I feel the same way you do! I want to a college prep school also and I did not feel repaired at all! I am staying at home and commuting to my college campus and it is so hard to even adjust that way, I study almost always now and am constantly working on other things for school also you aren't alone in feeling that way but I admire you so much for how you stay so focused and dedicated to everything! it so hard to juggle school work alone let alone with a job! I've been a long time subscriber and this is my first time commenting but I love you videos and just know you aren't alone in feeling that way and you do such an amazing job juggling youtube and school life I know how hard that can be! love you and your videos💕
Thank you for posting this i feel so much I am almost just wrapping up my first semester in college as well! I can relate with you it's so stressful and grades dropping at the start because of adjustment and also the friend thing is hard to to find your people. Just know it will get better 💟
Keep your head held high girl. We all love and support you. So impressed how dedicated you have become to UA-cam. You deserve the best ❤️❤️ will you do a workout routine or another dorm room tour? Ily
I'm doing pre med/health science! I totally get where you're coming from. I'm technically not going to medical school because it is super tough! I hate organic chemistry but what I hate the most about the healthcare field, especially for doctors, is you need 20 years experience for an entry level position to get started! I want to be a physicians assistant or sonographer.
Thank you a lot for uploading this, it was very very helpful to me. Please could you post more discussion videos like this with your advice and opinions, it helped me and you are so good at this. Thank you :)
I go to a college where we take one class in 18 days. There are only two colleges in the US that do this. Taking one class is awesome, but we still get the same amount of work load as most other college studnets would, it is just for one class that is the only differnce.. I feel your stress and stuggles. School has never been easy for me, I also epexct to much from myself that I know I can’t produce and it sucks. College has also been a eye opener for me. They really do not prepare you for college lol. Stay Strong! Talking about your sruggles personally is very awesome of you.
Have you tried asking your professor for help? Most of them, especially the ones who teach freshmen classes, are very willing to help students. You have to ask because like you said, this is college not high school. Instructors and students don't usually see each other everyday. If your professor won't help, see if there is a tutoring center or something like that you can go to for help with school work.
Really good video :) I’m literally in the same place as you and I’m only a sophomore in high school :(( right now I have all honors and 2 AP classes plus I’m enrolled in the STEM program at my school with 10 classes each semester and all of the feelings you’re going through, I have the same. Just remember you’re not alone and we can both make it through !! We’re all in this together!
I totally agree I was premed when I dormed in college . You basically have no life to Excell in your classes, I wasn't told that either. I also switched my major and graduated with a triple bachelor's in science technology and social work. You have to choose what you want more. Social Life in college or head in the book with no life. Unfortunately we can't have both. But Good luck with school you will will do great!!!
I’ve always taken college prep classes and I got accepted into a decent university and I’m legit scared. I definitely dont feel prepared but this video helps. Thank you
I can’t help but to be concerned after watching this video, madam. You seem to be in the unsavory predicament of being in college, but not knowing what you want to do with your life. You may want to at least consider moving back home and attending a local community college. Once you’ve completed your general education at the community college and know what you want to major in, you could then transfer to a university or do online college, which is what I’m doing now. I recently completed my BS in Business Administration through SNHU COCE, a completely online college, and I’m now working on my MBA. Before that, I graduated from a community college with a couple associate degrees. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about community college or online college.
im glad you shared your struggles , we all feel the same way. don't worry school is hard for all of us, you will do great don't worry.
I totally understand where you are coming from. I am finishing up my first semester too, and it has been incredibly hard, in more than one way. I feel like no one really tells you how big of an adjustment it is going to be. But we got this girl!
you're exactly right, and yes we got it girl!!!
I love how honest you are!! We will be here to support you ❤️
Thank you so so much! I appreciate it
This is the most real video I have seen in a while and many people will not understand until being put in a certain situation. You got this!
