Thanks for the video. Ordered my Safari this week-looking forward to it arriving. Black with Medium Nib.....was nice to see the medium nib size on your video. Looks great.
Thank you for a good description of the differences! I love anything Lamy! I have a small collection of All Stars and Safari's, but have only used the Safari's. I need to put them into use!
There was a display of Lamy Safaris and Al Stars by the checkout counter at my Barnes and Noble bookstore (do you have this chain store?). It was exciting for me to see these pens in person and hold them after seeing them in videos so many times. It felt weird because I felt like I already knew these pens, but they were just slightly different than I had imagined. The metal of the Al Star was thinner than I had expected. I was happy to see that fountain pens are coming into the main stream.
tok graff the cartridge holds just over 1ml of ink, and the converter holds 0.7ml. They are proprietary but hold a good amount. The Safaris and Al-Stars are not generally the wettest pens, so depending on how much you write and what nib size you use, they can last a fair while. If you arent writing a lot you can expect them to last a couple of weeks.
in europe i buy my first lamy safari cost normal ewery shop 20,80 or less than 30$ €. AL-stars have lot more heavy my hand not good feel, same jinhao 95 full metal have too heavy. preppy, safari, safari copy plastic pen have perfect weight.
prival fang In general, yes. But there are several slight (some very slight) differences in dimensions and such. But as they use the same nibs, have the same general shape and grip section... the writing experience will not differ too much.

Bit long winded just to say they are different materials, that’s it, obviously that will make a price difference, hardly surprising.😏
the lamy all star is a metal version of the safari. no other difference.
