Did this to my R56 today, worked like a charm, no issues at all. (No issue with the seatbelt bypass) Bought it from Detroit Tuned. I'll come back and update in a few weeks if I have any issues at all.

I was seeing all these bypass modules but am super happy I found an R56 video showing how simple! Thanks! Hopefully they recall these because o have owned vehicles with 380k miles and NEVER had an airbag issue EVER!!! Thanks again!
Two major deadly issues with this: 1) You will always have to ensure no one as small as the weight of a child who could be seriously injured or killed by an airbag sits in the front passenger seat and 2) if even an appropriate weight person forgets their seatbelt and the airbag deploys due to the seatbelt bypass, that person could die from the impact of the airbag propelling them around without the carefully measured manufactured seatbelt in use! Yes impact of a collision could kill regardless but you are looking at a potential vehicular homicide and/or wrongful death lawsuit when that bypass component is found!
I went to the junkyard and cut out a seatbelt buckle, then attached a red strap to it. I plug it in the passenger receptacle when no one is sitting there. When I don’t use it, I put the buckle end in the glove box and let the strap hang out.
Bought bypass from eBay, easy install, great video - but same result as before. Clear codes, same result. Someone on mini forum is saying I need to recode the airbag module?
Hi, any luck or progress with getting Mini to do an official recall on this? My 2011 Mini Cooper has this error too and, like you, I don't think bypassing the error is the right solution either. Thank you.
I also had the same problem with the seatbelt bypass not working, i ended up just hooking 2 150 ohm resistors together and that took care of the light.

good morning my friend My car at this moment has this error, it is 2009 and I changed the seats for 2010 leather ones, the scanner error is a companion sensor, my mechanic tells me that the sensor of the new seats is not compatible with the sensor of the car and for that reason it does not detect it, I would like some guide to be able to make the fix to erase the error, thank you very much
Just installed in a R56 2010 and neither lights extinguished. Did you have to clear faults through a code reader? I unhooked battery which ideally should reset ecu and clear faults. I haven’t tried the magnetic seatbelt sensor either though.
r55 here. bought a set off ebay, installed ok led is on solid so good, cleared SRS codes and... didn’t do jack. both errors back. tried over and over. what gives. about to price out new seat occupancy mat or should I take the thing back to bmw?

If you have little hands and some patience, there's no reason to remove the seat. Took me maybe 20 minutes to replace the sensor.

Did you disconnect the battery? It's not mentioned in the video... I saw some other videos where they say to remove the power first.
Will replacing "only" the passenger seat occupant module work. I don't think I have an issue with the seat belt

is it also work for the driver side
the driver side does not have this, this is only for passenger seat. drive side airbag is inside the steering wheel and always on.
