I've seen Tommy play live about 7 times across multiple countries. The guy is not only a talented legend, but also a humble, generous performer. Everything, including his 'showmanship' is all for the audience.. to give them something worth watching and enjoying. Watch his live performances, especially his Beatles medley..
I met Mason many years ago. He was a classmate of my brother at Rhode Island School Of Design. His artwork was displayed there for years. His full size Greyhound bus painting was wild. He was a hit at parties, a guitar was carried by him everywhere. He could also sing. Nice suggestion and a nice show. Thanks 🤠
tommy does a tedex talk ,it is worth watching ,he learnt to play buy listening to the radio and thought that lead, rythem and bass were played on one guitar
Tommy is the guy that artist that have sold 100million albums still go to for guitar lessons. Started playing at 4 years old. He and his brother were virtuosos , sadly his brother passed away a couple years ago.
I have always loved this instrumental song by Mason Williams. Such cool vibes. I had also heard Tommy Emmanuel's version & he does a really nice job of this song. Both are masters of their craft.
You’ve got to add it to Mason for coming up with this amazing melody. Has stuck in my head for 40+ years. Tommy Emmanuel really rocks it with a lot of raw emotion. You can see in his music video, but I love the horns that Mason Williams had on the original version. Great job, Jeff!
That isn't a classical guitar. It is a Maton 808 size steel string guitar. He is playing the T.E. model which Maton, an Australian company, made to his specs.
Sounds like Tommy is the complete opposite of your mate Pete. Tommy incredibly skilled but humble, laid back and likeable. Never heard or read a bad word about Tommy.
Not recommended, the classical guitars neck may not like it much, the guitar Tommy is playing however is a steel string acoustic, a Maton EBG808TE, not a classical
Mason’s original beats Tommy IMO, another cover of this great song is played by the late, great Glen Campbell and is a much better cover IMO, you can find it on YT.
From Australia , Tommy an Aussie legend , Peace from down under
Different eras, different styles, both very good!

You’ll like his video for The Journey (guitar only).
I prefer Mason's version for the pure melodics and epicness. I prefer Tommy's for pure guitar talent porn ;)
Wow! That video goes back! Thanks for checking it out and welcome! And I agree!
Goanna is pronounced as written. It's an Australian lizard.
Tommy’s version doesn’t need backing music.

You can put steel strings on a classical guitar ?? really? did not know that.
Yeh, you can, but it will fuck the guitar sooner or later, especially if the gauge is too heavy.
JC is correct. The tow guitars are really two distinct instruments.
