- Jürgen Habermas gives the first lecture in a series on the Philosophical Discourse of Modernity and Postmodernity. I added captions to try to make it a bit easier to follow. This talk was given at Cornell. More details will be added at a later date.

Sorry for the re-upload, but the errors were driving me crazy and I wanted to fix them. I will be uploading more in this series.
Thank you for the effort and dedication! I love this channel!
"Philosophy Overdose", one question to you: Why your Channel was erased? The profound wealth of early videos, where they are now?
Absolutely brilliant - thanks so much!.. This is easily the best Habermas talk my colleagues and I have seen. One could argue that it offers a truly insightful perspective towards understanding the development of post/modernity as it relates to Hegel, the response of the 'Young Hegelians', and the subsequent works of Niche and Heidegger. Looking forward to your future uploads in this series -
Is he still alive?
@@OOOHezronyes and active! 😅
So amazing, right now I have homework about him. So I gonna to watch this to learn more.
I spotted a few small errors:
39:17 “that” → “which”
41:04 “inner logic” → “the inner logic”
42:33 “flairing up” → “flaring-up”
42:52 “and neglected” → “and of neglected”
44:31 “to movers” → “to the movers”
what the fukc is wrong with you
At 15:10 you wrote "cultural substances" but it should say "cultural subsystems" instead.
The paragraph relates to systems theory, in which science, morality and art each had their own "code" of validity. (That's why Habermas says that those questions were autonomously elaborated)
brilliant
no, it's not that brilliant
