The real Tsar Nicholas I ruled during the early 19th century, although his guardsmen in this story are equipped more like 13th-century soldiers. The term 'Comrad' wasn't popularised until the revolution in 1917.

The moral of this story is great, but i find it a shame that chances are in the real world if you tried being that nice to a stranger you'd get robbed

That may be, but the tsar in this film is called Nikolai, not Nicholas.

These guys are not Russians. They don`t have the accents, the language and they don`t address each other as `Comrads``.
