Carson's voice, coupled with the smoothness of his guitar, are exactly what Guy Clark was talking about, "Stuff that's real, stuff you feel.....STUFF THAT WORKS." It doesn't get more real than this!!
Who else digs watching that tuned down drop D doing it’s little dance every time he strokes it just right. It’s the little things.

I think he's using an Open C tuning....I think...so that big drop d is actually a booming C
As an intermediate player, not fully versed in alternate tunings, I did wonder what kind of witchcraft was at work here.
@@myfriendscallmeturk7568 Well, he's playing "D" shape chords (D, G, A7) while the guitar is tuned down a whole step, then the low "E" string is down another whole step to C. In other words, drop D tuning, with the whole guitar tuned down two frets. Drop C, iow. (God that's a rambling explanation - sorry.)

Josh gets more attention but Carson is a very talented person. His singing voice is exceptional and his guitar work is excellent. I'm happy to be a subscriber. He deserves more attention on UA-cam for his own work. I always love his contribution to the music Josh offers. The two are a great pair of performers. We really are blessed these young performers are producing real music instead of the crap we find all over the place. Thanks Carson.

I promoted a few Guy Clark gigs over here in the UK and had the pleasure of going out for a few drinks with him. I’m sure he’ll be smiling if he’s watching. It’s not easy to cover such personal material but in my opinionCarson, you knocked that out of the park.

While I'm a huge fan, I didn't have the privilege of knowing Guy Clark personally, but I'm betting he would have approved of this cover. Fantastic.
The warts don't show at all! This was as good as Guy's version. You have such a great timbre in your voice, that resonates in my mind as I listen. I really appreciate the fact that in this era, I can see and hear new artists via UA-cam, and you youngsters get public exposure that earlier generations fought to find! I am not big on technology, but this media is an exception! I'm already into the 4th quarter of my 1st century of life, but still have an appreciation for talent. Hang in there, son!

Excellent! I'm a songwriter also and if you learn early that it's all about the melody in a song, not the chords then you'll be a better songwriter earlier in life. So humming to get an original hook/melody, is better than starting with chords. All Timeless hit songs have that.
