@@SpoonyPizzas Hi, I play pes 2016. My team plays 4 3 3. My CBs are a destroyer and extra frontmen. The full backs are offensive. My defensive style is frontline pressure with containment area wide. Is this a good combination especially if the team is a possession based team?
Really nice analysis. Always (absent mindedly) wondered how 'real' game situations are affected by the play style.

This does come at a good time like others have said. I've been trying to recreate Chris Wilder's tactics, like I mentioned in one of your other videos. And getting feedback from places like Reddit, they suggest using Extra Frontman for the overlapping CB. I did check the Sheffield setup in the game and of their three CB line, two are indeed Extra Frontman and the middle one is Build Up.
How was it so far? Honestly BU players in the middle made more sense in real life as the last defender/CB but in game they need both BU players at the sides and destroyer/EF in the middle..

Finally ! Thank you, can you later also do False9 setting...which playstyle works best for that False9 ?
And the differences of using it as an SS or CF.
Actually I wonder, how does the game know which striker is supposed to be the False 9. Of course one in the center, but what if I play an SS and a CF in more or less central positions? Which one is gonna play the role as False 9?

I like to combine extra frontman/ buildup with no playstyle player with high defensive awareness as they position mutch better and try to stay close with the opponents as they get closer without living them space, like Joe Gomez, as you can train him like a defensive fullback who would good speed and defensive stats...
For me it's always two-man CB with Bulid Up playstyle + Joe Gomez (in MyClub). Interestingly, Joe Gomez is a CB with "Defensive Full Back" playstyle and I find him as a combination between Build Up + Extra Front Man. I'd like you to review his unique playing style if you got a time.

Pretty sure if Joe is played as a CB his defensive fullback role will be greyed out mate...meaning it won't be activated during game thus becomes neutral (similar to examples given here).

Jumped into PS4 as soon as I watched this vid to experience data pack for myself. Enjoying it... other than the 5 yard onside called offside just now. Never saw an offside mistake but that was horrendous 🤣🤣

I've recently switched to manual passing to make the game more challenging without increasing the difficulty.
The result is that my possession has dropped to about 39% every match. Even if I try to keep the ball more I play a shitty pass and lose the ball.
I don't lose because I got good at defending by following your tutorial instructions but I want a bit more evenly distributed possession to not make it seem like I got 1 lucky goal and they had the upper hand.
Any tips?

If you have a good tall target man, far post setting and then a lofted high ball pulling back on L-Stick. Head the ball back into the danger area.
Otherwise... Dash and hold and 50% power and depending on range either slightly forward or backwards on L-Stick to adjust speed of delivery.

Hi Spoony nice video as always. One question i have been playing pes for years but this year just feels different in passing. For example when i one 2 pass to the back it makes my pass not arrive. There fore i can’t always play fast pace passing what im used to.
Can you detail when you use what kind of passes? Or when you rather give the through ball and a normal pass. Also passing with r1 or r2 or l1 is just a big difference. hope

Dusting this old video off! I think it still applies. Wish more people wanted these types of videos. Have a question for you: What is your ideal playing style combo for CBs? I have been using one Destroyer and one Build up. I find the Destroyer role is effective as a CB because it helps counter the COM playing those balls into strikers for the "turn and finish".
Both build up as they sit a little deeper - if it's a 3 CB then 2 Build up and one extra frontman or 2 EF's and 1 BU.
I have ginter as build up. He has through ball stars so I can ping some right balls across the pitch

i like playing with a high defensive line the way i get this is by turning on off side trap i think its under player settings
You can activate offside trap manually (double tap d-pad left or right depending which way you're facing goal)
I don't understand the new data pack update, whats the point in it if it doesn't update the January transfers

That will be extremely useful. The Build-up is what I call "libero", the CB that keeps his positioning, whereas the Extra Frontman is the"stopper", the CB that goes upon the attacker. From the other side, the Destroyer look a lot alike the Extra Frontman, but he fits better to the modfield area rather than the defensive line. I like to mix the two styles of the CBs, Build-up and Extra Frontman, so as to cover holes and counter all the situations in the field. Cheers to all, see you next time!

@@SpoonyPizzas hey and i got another question too, would be nice to get your opinion or your experience: i was a long long time fifa player (fifa08 was my first on nintendo, i had fifa 12 to fifa 20 on ps without letting one part out) and i m playing pes 2020 for 3 months now, i have downloaded the patch to have all licenced teams in the game (as premier league or laliga), i have the bundesliga (as PEU league), the pesUniverse classic league (as PLA league) and a historic/classic kit from inter, ac milan, juve, ManU, arsenal and barca as a 4th kit for the nowadays team, can you recommend any other patch, can i do anything to have more fun an a better game? (i m playing offline master league/ or become a legend (the single player master league)

Cheers for this, top vid! I know it doesnt state it in the descriptions, but does scoreline or time in the game have any effect on the playing styles? I only ask because it seems to me that Pavard (Extra Frontman) has a habit of leaving gaping holes in my defence towards the end of games that I'm losing (even if attack level is neutrel). But that could be my bad play :D.
Hi mate, no impact on the timeline. It might be the AI changing their attack strategy towards end of game though. Games usually become stretched when this happens making you feel a little weaker. Also...check defensive prowess...this helps them maintain a good defensive line.
