To see Kevin running that machine you would never know it's his first day on it. It takes a skilled operator to get in a new piece of equipment and run it that good!

The thought of a new processor for Kevin would be a great addition! How about a ride along with him before it has to go back? Thanks for the great videos Tim!

Maybe it's the yellow paint, but that Tigercat looks a good bit bigger than the Deere. Looks like those wheels in the processor sure put the squeeze on the logs.

The newer fpt engines Tigercat has in the newer machines are alot quieter than the older Cummings. I run a old 240t with over 40k hrs and she is loud !!

Got to ask was he running the controls in ER makes a big difference, makes it more efficient and quicker just have to be carefull that head doesn't hit the cab. Seen many a front window with a dent. 99% of the 855's around here have the single grouser pads and the riser to lift the machine up.

I found your video from four years ago, "Kevin in the processor" to be one of your most interesting videos. I hope that Kevin will do another in the Tigercat 855 and compare it to his John Deere processor.

That squeaky sound could just be a relief. Maybe for rotate. These Southstars sound like that all the time, they're supposed to. You should ride in the back of the cab and talk to Kevin while he's processing.

I’m a crane operator for IP, we offload log trucks with a rotary crane with a one bite 32 ton capacity, two things we don’t like are double bunk trailers (twice the work) and double bunk plantation trailers. We have about a 24 inch of area between the first and second bolsters to put a nine ton grapple. Take a 12 ft cane pole, 12 ft of line with a 5lb weight attached and put a bucket 12 ft in front of you, now, put the weight in the bucket without touching the sides of the bucket, do this for 12 hours a day without any bathroom or lunch breaks. I need a different job!

I like that Tigercat processor but that is expensive! $700k?!? Lot of money. But like you said, if you have the right people and wood, that can work great.

I've run a 855 with a 623c head and I think you could use one of those instead of a 624. The 623 is a great mix between a 622 and 624. If he's looking for the find end button, all he has to do is press his preselect and it will automatically find the end.

Tigercat are working with CM Labs(Montreal) on Vortex training simulators for Tigercat machines, the Tigercat 1075C forwarder and 1165 harvester, initially. John Deere/ Waratah have training simulators for their machines. (John Deere Australia Forestry Simulators 'link - brochure more more info') Did the previous operator of the 855/624C not take up or have access to adequate training? Be interesting to measure the operator 'eyeline' height between the H855 and the 2554. Probably not worth the hassle to retrofit a Clean fix or Flexaire reversing fan to the 2554.

Operating a log loader(I also do that) is a walk in the park compared to sitting 90 ft up in the air offloading a log trailer with a rotary crane. BTW, I really like operating log loaders, lots of fun!

Kevin can sure fire the logs through that machine and can make it twist and turn real quick. However it all about the efficiency of the harvest operation which translates into loads moved on average each day. Factors like the severity of the terrain will have a big impact, weather issues and skidder haul distance / cycle time on output but its having a balance of efficiency between the harvester, the skidder, the loader and the trucks to haul it all away.
