I’ve had my X4.6 for near 15yrs, and it’s still going strong. I love it. Interesting to hear that it still has the same flaws as the OG version though. Great video as always, thanks man.
About the clutch bell and brake disc touching: it seems as if your motor mount plate is tilted forward, you can see at 3:00 how the plat isnt resting on the TVP chassis as it should.
Couldn’t agree more! One more thing I’d add is to lengthen the pull start cord spacer if your run the roll cage. You can’t reach it with the stock length
Few comments; The F4.6 is a long reach glow plug engine. An OS 8 is a short reach plug. The correct long reach OS plug is either an OS LC3 or LC4. A short reach OS 8 will work if that's what you have but it is NOT what you should purchase. In regards to nitro content there really is no issues with 30% if that is available for you, i know the manual suggests under 25%, your engine will run cooler and tune easier up to 30%. If your 1km above sea level 30% nitro is basically 25% anyway. Just be sure to keep the oil content about 10-12% range. To much oil causes extra heat and smaller tuning window. Have fun. Surprised you didnt mention that a steering servo upgrade was not on the list of upgrades. The stock one is adequate, but you see the biggest handling improvement their, maybe you already did that earlier. Good idea staying with the stock plastic spur, thats a good failure point for when you need it. Totally agree with swapping stuff out as they break or hit service limits like the clutch shoes. Weird about the breaks rubbing, that does not happen on my 4.6 with 17/47 gearing. Maybe the engine case is a bit different on the V2.
Thanks for the info! So the R5 plug it came with is a short reach plug. I have a picture with the R5, a #8 and an LC3 side by side and the stock R5 is definitely about the same size as the #8. Maybe they changed the plug in the V2? I started a thread on rctech where you can see the plugs. bit.ly/3BJbvWh
@@RazorRC now thats very interesting indeed. I wonder if your engine came with a g3.0 plug? Seems like quality has some nuances maybe, no battery tray, goofy inbetween glow plug. I looked at some of my older HPI plugs and they are the same LC3 length. However I do have one that is inbetween short and long reach from force. Thanks for sharing. I noticed an improvement switching to an OS plug, and an additional improvement from os 8 to long reach. I have an "hpi" V1 4.6 new in box and 2 force 4.6 new in box from last year, I'll pull the plugs and check. I'm running 1 2021 f4.6 currently and it definitely has a long reach, who knows what's going on these days. If it runs it runs.
How about a two speed that works? Too many people reporting issues with this generation and lasts and I am one of them. Absolutely ridiculous that the Engineers would do this to the original Savage Fans. My still all original Savage 25 two speed works flawlessly. I bought the previous gen Savage X and the rerelease Savage X 4.6 and both of their transmissions won’t shift. They are both stuck in high gear so no wheelies at all. Beyond frustrated with HPI!
Yeah, not sure what’s going on with the 2speed. I was able to get mine to work eventually. Clutch shoes were way too soft though and didn’t grab at all, which was part of the problem.
im not even watching this video just saw the thumbnail. all i can say is if there are 10 must have fixes for the truck, it sounds like you shouldnt get the truck
Bro you getting mixed up with glow plugs and spark plugs. No detonation avoidance. The temperature is how hot it gets when you start the engine and has absolutely nothing to do with the running of the engine
@@RazorRCare you suggesting we should leave the glow starter in while tuning the engine? Because that's the only way you could power it. The manual makes no mention of this, I'd love to know the reason.. if you feel so inclined 😊

haha, hasn't really changed much. at least it has 17mm hexes now!
That's what happens when you don't update a model for 20 years I guess, still the same issues 🤷♂️
@@RazorRC Only the price has changed, that's about it. Nearly $1,000 CAD now! Think it was about $600 back in the day.

Lovely info Track & Run Cheers
Been in the lab with the Flux version. Been waiting on your input!!!
I'll probably do a nitro vs. electric video.
You can go up to a 53t spur gear.i have 47 thrue 53 steel.13 to 20 clutch bells.must have bullit proof grars .
Brilliant video razer rc looking good straight track nitro the way too go bud 👍😀👌
Needs to be wider,
Needs shoegoo and wall tape.
Battery indicator
Engine protector ( not stock as it's weak)
All bearings need greasing
Nicely done! Always wanted nitro, but stuck on lipo.
Nitro is way more fun. 2 stroke power band is much more thrilling then lipo. And I have a few 6s 1/8 truggys. Like kronos xtr v2
My 52 sper gear clears my twin breaks 17 clutch bell

First thing they need to fix is the price!!!!!
50% for a pipe. That is expensive. There is alot of knockoff that is pretty good for like 15$-20$
That's a good vidwo
coming from a guy with an HPI profile pic, I appreciate it!
By the sounds of it, it looks the same but the quality is much lower. Sounds like your better off buying a 10 year old stock savage than a new one 🙃
I wish I had an old one to compare, cause I really wonder…!

I suggest doing some more research. 100% the plugs are used to tune the engine while running.

Hard pass for me. I'll stick with my Traxxas T-Maxx with the os21tm.
Ha ha all hpi need at least 10 upgrades 🤣
seems kinda true!
I've never had an rc car that doesn't need upgraded of any brand
@@festo8885 my experience with hpi is terrible. Especially hpi bullet. It will break on any jump over 2 foot high
