My dad was a Hawthorne Caballero (William Rusch ) from after World War II till the 60s this brought tears to my eyes some of my first memories as a little one, standing on the curb at the Maceys parade hearing them get closer feeling the percussion go through my body and my eyes blinking to the beat. I’ll never forget it. my dad talked about a guy in the drum core named Costello. They were legends.
I remember him talking about them beating the New York Skyliners for the grand championship and the Skyliners were so mad. They went down below the stadium and played their asses off super loud and you can hear it vibrating through the whole stadium.
Brought back great memories. Grew up in Maryland, had friends in Yankee Rebels in early 1970’s & enjoyed attending the competitions, the Hawthorne Caballero were a favorite
@@johncsmith5563 that is greatly appreciated by Real Drum Corps fans thank you I've competed against you when I was in the Long Island sunrises 64 through 68 always had much respect for the Hawthorne Caballeros engaged in several parties at their post after a contest we always had a great time
Saw them there. They looked and sounded great. I hope they are around for a long time to come. They exemplify what drum corps was in the old days and they are so cool. I like the modern interpretation of drum corps but love the old school drum corps a lot. You folks make me proud to have been involved. Your energy puts us all to shame
My dad was in the Caballeros. They saved his life after World War II. He even went to Cuba with them. There’s stories of him hitchhiking on the side of the road with a manikin playing a prank and the Caballeros tour bus picked him up. He had so many stories he talked about a guy named Jimmy Costello I thinka lot they had some good times

I could listen to these guys all day! LUV the old-school drum corp!
When you smell absolute class and style you smell the Cab’s coming at you . Great job CAB’s .
Nice snare sound . and great military bearing from the Corps members
Thank you! We try to keep the look and sound of "old school" drum corps from the 70's and 80's.

Excellent! You make me miss the 70’s & 80’s. ….Bleu Raeders Drum & Bugle Corps
What year did you march in the Bleu Raeders?
GREAT TO SEE A "REAL DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS " IN A PARADE.
FORMER LONG ISLAND SUNRISES DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS.
NO GIRLS IN THE 1960
Great video! Reminds me of the Troy State University "Sound of the South" drum line of the mid to late 70's! Only thing missing are the conga drums!!☺
Great Corps and video!!!
❤❤❤
