Please, if you're American, European or whatever, think twice before living here, gentrification is killing us, taxis became way more expensive, rent a house or even a good bedroom is almost impossible for the local people, prices are getting up and up, etc.
I will make a deal with you. All the illegal immigrants from all over the world that are destroying European countries and America, leave and we will do the same and depart Mexico. Deal? And just so you know, I agree that gentrification is a disease and I do not want to see it destroy the great Mexican culture. I genuinely love the Mexican people, so I support your concerns Gustavo.
We have no issues using cash, and often prefer it. However, some people have a preference for credit cards, so we thought it would be a good point to bring up.
The entire area from Puerto Escondido down to Huatulco would be excellent for families and the beaches are all excellent wherever you go. It is more economical in Oaxaca, but it's hot and humid at the beaches during mid-day especially during the summers. For cooler weather, go further inland to higher elevations and the weather is much cooler. This part of Mexico is less crowded and more economical, but the infrastructure can be limited.
Thanks for the vid / I live here in the Rinconada area and it's fantastic... disagree on the ATM's ---there are very few here and Chedraui is where to go to get cash and watch those fees! / I'm retired and luv the younger generation here, instead of hanging around with old folks in gated communities...food like you said is phenomena--l and PE is spread out into very distinct and individual personality towns...Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I guess if you are used to ATMs everywhere, but we had no issue getting money (maybe at Chedraui once or twice and elsewhere once or twice). It is definitely a younger vibe, and some like it a lot. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and thanks for watching!
It was over 35C (95F) for most of our time there. And the humidity was very high as well. If you like that sort of weather, it would be perfect for you. Thanks for watching!
Not as far as we know. There aren't really any big resorts you can do that at (yet). So far, Puerto Escondido isn't that sort of place - it is more of a laid back surfer town.
Our place was surprizingly quiet, but you never know. There were no fireworks while we were there (and we were there during Easter!); it is really hit and miss though.
Great video. We spent 6 months traveling around Mexico but never made it to Puerto Escondido, mainly because, like you said, we couldn't find an easy way to get there. There's supposed to be a new highway either recently opened or opening soon that could cut down the bus times. I hope you guys are doing well and we're glad to see you post a new video.
Most of the "cons" you list are related to it not being very urbanized and hyper-developed. This is the entirely what makes this place so nice. Big international airports with direct flights from big American cities, big Walmarts, fast internet, etc. etc. would make this place a terrible place to visit! Honestly you guys should just stay in big urban American cities.
I went to a Dr. for lung congestion and the dr. cost $4.40, but half that was refunded by the pharmacist when I got the antibiotic; total cost was less than $25. Mexico is the most cost effective country in bang for a buck on medical care - they have public clinics opening and, also, if you are a renter or own a home you can get free medical insurance that's not extensive but can benefit you for those with limited means.

Todo se está volviendo más caro por los gringos. Quédense donde están. Preferimos a nuestros locales.

I really like how positive and respectfully talked about Puerto Escondido. I just discovered your channel and I think you guys are great 🙏🏽💗
Thank you so much!
Cash is a fantastic thing!
Keep it alive by using it, it's our kids future freedom and privacy.

Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching!
👍
It’s probably getting cheaper to live in Italy or Greece
How hot is too hot for you guys? we get scorching hot summers in Texas and maybe perfect weather for us in PE.

Where did you get cash, atm ?
Are there any hotels where u can get a day pass to swim and a spa?

Very helpful...
We are glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Was it noisy? Loud music? Car alarms? Fireworks? Did you ever have trouble sleeping due to noise?

Having trouble with volume of videos
Fine on our end!
Nope, this video's volume was terrible compared to your video about not retiring in Mexico.

How was medical?

Misleading title. I expected to hear from someone who HAD retired there.
Not really, that is why there are question marks. Also, all of our straight talks are like this. Thanks for watching.
I see no question marks.
@@brynagallagher2304 The thumbnail is "Retire in Puerto Escondido Mexico?!?" - this is the image everyone sees when searching in UA-cam.
nope, there's no question marks
