- Hello and welcome to Train Simulator Classic!
Today we're going to be driving one of the fantastic scenarios from Magic Toad, on the Just Trains Midland Mainline route from Nottingham as far as Sheffield. This particular unit is a Cross Country unit, which is currently on loan to East Midlands Railway.
It's roughly an hour from Nottingham to Sheffield, and hopefully we'll get a nice clear run. I've never done the full route from Nottingham to Sheffield via the Erewash Valley line, so hopefully this will be a great trip!

Hi Joe. 170638 is still with EMR. I saw it the other day at Bulwell whilst waiting for the tram.
This has now gone back to CrossCountry
EARwash? It's pronounced ERRORwash bud. Greetings from the other end of Erewash, Long Eaton :)
That bit of line from Derby, is the leg from Trent Junction (Long Eaton), via Toton, generally a freight only route.
Ilkeston station is only a few years old, having been covered by "All The Stations" Geoff Marshal not long after it opened.
As for the Northern's at Nottingham, there is a drivers diversionary training route coming from Sheffield once a day via Derby / Long Eaton.
Between Nottingham / Chesterfield, Northern's stop at all stations, where as EMR's don't, with EMR normally stopping at Alfreton only.
Matlock on the Erewash Valley line? Never heard of that one before :D
7:05. To go onto Trowell you usually do get a single yellow before Radford Jn which then steps with with indication. That daft 30 is for a weak bridge. Straight on at Radford Jn will take you to Mansfield and Worksop

8:13 that line is the Robin Hood line that goes all the way up to Worksop it be awsome if that ever become avalible on train sim

A great route to get the 170/168 is the Chiltern mainline as you can get quite a distance between stops. I think it’s around 40 miles between London and high Wycombe and mostly 100mph when you get out of the London area. It’s quite nice. It’s also an amazing route with the 68 as you can thrash the living hell out of it ;)

The whole east midlands franchise is a mess. A very nothing and forgotten franchise on the network. Replacing the 156s and 158s with "new" 170s is a farce and the last time we got a new train was the Meridians back in the Midland Mainline days. We also can't forget the 2002 built EMU's that replaced 2004 built Meridians.
the 180s haven't replaced the 222s, there's only four with EMR and both the Meridian and Adelente fleet are being replaced by class 810s there set to be in service in 2023 and it wouldn't surprise me if EMR ordered some Civity units but some 755s would be good choice to help with capacity issues as they have 4 cars and Bi-mode along with some good standing space on them
... When you visit Nottingham, don't forget to greet people with "Ay up, me duck!"
Hey Jow, Great video again. Just a thought if you want to learn to drive without the Hud on there is a channel on youtube PTG Rail who shows you how to drive without the hud and learn you where all the stations are and breaking distances for the stations and speed limits. Check him out and let me know what you think
Nice video Joe, This is defiantly one of my favourite routes. That Ilkeston station is fairly new, it only opened about 5 years ago. Before then it was one the largest town without a station.

Ilkeston is my local station and it was opened in April 2017
It was total nonsense they used these on th Glasgow to Edinburgh route once.
It’s not an up and down slow it’s a huge bi-di freight loop
