    Resampling a beat, pitching it way down, and then chopping it up is one of my favorite techniques on the Rhythm. Endless vaporwave, vapor trap, or just new song sections.

    Dope. That's been primarily how I've been using mine. I think the fact that it's quick and you don't have to name anything or know what folder it's going to go to sort of encourages it. I've got the Digitakt as well but I tend to use resampling for more straightforward, utilitarian stuff. It's all a lot of fun.

    You know I wrote off the circuit series when I was looking for my first sampler/groovebox because I thought the workflow was too clunky. And I know, everyone says that it's intuitive once you learn it, but I was looking more into the model:samples. Also none of the demos that I heard were really connecting with me. But YOU sir, you just sold me. This plus the video that you did on Novation's channel in the park. Really great stuff. Again.

    For subs that are also Digitakt users, another idea is to bake in LFO sound design tricks (like random LFO on sample start for granular sounds) into the composition, allowing you to use that LFO or effect for something else. Dope video as always, @ricky tinez. BTW, when are you gonna let us know what you think of that Isla SP-2400 you're hiding in the lower right hand corner of the vid?

    Hi Ricky, been following you for a while and I wait anxiously every saturday for your next video to come out. :)
    I need your opinion here: as a bass player I can’t understand why in 2022 the worlds of hardware samplers and loopers are not integrated yet. There is iOS that offers koala, loopy pro and all the possible flexibility you can wonder but for the guys like me that want to stay away from screens there are no options available (exept for the mpc looper but that’s really not working as it should) . I am an owner of a OG circuit and a circuit tracks and would definitely purchase a rythm if a looper would be added with a firmware update. I am Dreaming about plugging my bass guitar on the rythm and then jam battery powered in the countryside…. Do you know if novation is even thinking about this?
    Cheers from Italy

    I guess the easiest way to do this on the DT would be to parameter lock the sample start point at 0, 32, 64 and 96 for the 4 beats of a bar. By the way did you see those videos where a guy figured out how to do timestretch on the DT without midi loopback?

    I've been sitting on mine for a month and haven't got around to unboxing it... I do still hope I made the right choice when I got tired of waiting for the Legowelt tracker and canceled my order... Go figure it arrived just hours after I did that but by then my heart was already set on this Rhythm despite having no experience with the 2 other Circuits what so ever. I'd also long considered a Model:Samples esp. after falling in love with the Cycles but put that off forever. Then there's the 404 but having a 202 that just sits around collecting dust made me think a newer version of something with that layout wasn't for me either. Anyways yeah, the special edition trackers cost double what the Rhythm did and the workflow is quite different esp. with the LARGE display versus no display at all. Ultimately I decided the Tracker display looks too much like "work" first and flow second versus this thing where I feel that FLOW is what it's all about. Am I right about this though? I hope!

      @xformant 3 роки тому +1

      Sooo, how'd that work out for you?

    • @MChristian
      @MChristian 3 роки тому +1

      @@xformant pretty medium. The Deluge doesn't have the same level of tools (that I know of) for easily splicing and trimming. I was able to approximate the workflow, but more clumsily (to be fair, everything I do seems clumsy compared to Ricky Tinez). I enjoyed the output enough that I messed around a little to make a beat with it but instead wound up making a gorgeously rich single-cycle wave synth voice and got distracted going down that rabbit hole. I love the all-in-one broad capabilities of the Deluge, but sometimes a dedicated device is better at its core competency than the Deluge and I think quick sampling/sample mangling isn't the Deluge's strongest skill-set.

    Hello Ricky, i almost bought the Rhythm but just on time discovered that everything is quantized in 6 microsteps unfortunately.
    Do you know; is that still the case?
    Are there workarounds?
    And is it possible to resample when i play the pads live (which could be a workaround...).
    The grid and layout of patterns makes it SO jammable...

    • @90sStarterJacket
      @90sStarterJacket Рік тому

      I'm not Ricky but you can either change the pattern to half length/double time and double the length so it's 32 steps. This doubles the grid resolution so you can be more precise with where a sample plays in the pattern.
      Another is to double the BPM of the entire project and slow down the pattern you're working on while doubling the length to 32 steps again. This is more or less the same thing but you have more options for pattern length if you want even more precision on faster parts.
      The downside is that you have fewer pattern space per track on a single project.
