      I was worried no one caught the big red ball and wish I took pics. but now I dont care again since he caught the "prominence". It was odd to get a symmetrical "ruby" with the diamond ring. If youre a believer then youre like yup, end times. I was chill with a simple oroboros but then they threw the eyes of Mot eating the earth and I said yo thats bussin. On god. FR FR.

      Hey! Thanks again for those! One of them is holding the Hydrogen Alpha scope in the video! Couldn't have done that without you! And the other I've been using for some satellite reading projects back at my apt, but I'm still troubleshooting some signal strength issues there...
      Both getting some good use, so thank you again!

    That last image of the formation of the ring from left to right would absolutely make a phenomenal poster. I'd totally buy one! I took my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter to watch the totality. I regret not being able to afford even a decent camera and only had my cell phone to work with. At least she got to witness one, and if I'm still alive in 2045, we'll be witnessing that one together as well. About that photo becoming a poster ... I'm quite serious about wanting one.

    "Horrifying" is a word that many people won't quite understand unless they are in the area of totality. I've seen 2 total eclipses now, and both times I felt uneasy seconds before it happened, and pure awe as it happens. BEAUTIFUL image you captured at the end there!

      Yeah, there is something very eerie about how its suddenly getting much darker, colder, and quieter. But then you look up and it's just pure awe. It gave me a different type of emotion that I can't quite describe... and when it was over, I was almost depressed at the fact that I will never get to witness it again.

      It must have been a profound experience. I'm always living in an area where I am totally unable to see Totality. (Waikiki, Oahu)
      I too , say that you deserve best NASA photo Award. I do not speak for the commenter above, but for myself. I ask, may you look objectively at Nasa photos of Earth, Moon and universe as a whole and understand, as NASA has admitted, that all of their photos are CGI.
      In that regard, your photos are better than NASA photos.
      I say that from the Love Within Me.
      Now there are 2 parts of your work that was quite stellar!
      Your Composite of the Shadow Moon, may you sharpen the details and maybe post them?
      Also, Idk if you noticed, the video from the GOESS, you showed the Moon Shadow and Sun Light.
      Thing is,...the Moon, Sun and Planets all travel along the ecliptic...so what was that bright as 'shine' that traveled with the day as the Night/Day Terminator moved across the Earth?
      That light was moving East to West as the Shadow moved SouthWest to NorthEast.
      Is that correct for the Moon occulting the Sun?

    This is amazing. I share your excitement! As excited (and anxious about the cloud cover) as I was, I was not in the least prepared for the experience. As the moon snuffed out the sun, I sobbed inconsolably for the entire two minutes of totality and all the way home. Nothing like I had ever experienced before! You have inspired me to learn how to photograph the next one! Thank you for sharing your work!

  • @2wheelnutt

    Terrific results my friend. Unfortunately too many people brush off totality and it’s so much more than you expected. I was not going to take any photos and just bask in the experience but when I realized I could see the pink glowing prominences I grabbed my camera with a 500mm and was rewarded with a beautiful image after bracketing down 4.5 EV. ✌️

    I too, vote for your last composite photo as "best ever". Thank you very much for putting this together. I drove 22 hrs to Carbondale from AZ. The Greatest Show on Earth did not disappoint. We had the same sky as you, mid-level cloud bands moving by just as the eclipse started. By totality they were gone, perfect. I am so glad I had binoculars this time (I saw 2017 in WY, no binos). I could make out all the secret reveals with my naked eye except the hydrogen shot, which was also very cool. The next one is Iceland or Spain. I would be happy to meet up on location Aug 2026 and help with logistics and whatever for even better photos. I think I am now a "totality chaser," ther should be at least a few more before I am dead :). Thanks again.

    • @kylemccaslin
      @kylemccaslin  8 місяців тому +1

      22 HOURS. Jesus Christ lol. Oh yeah Binos sound excellent for totality. So could you vaguely make out the Earth-shine on the dark side of the moon?

    • @elvispresley6392
      @elvispresley6392 8 місяців тому +4

      Right ?
      I was at about 95%. It dawned on me how bright the sun really is.
      At only 5% sunshine, it was very bright. Sure I've been under an eclipse before, but it never really struck me that way before.
      Imagine any other, even a very strong light, with 95% of it covered. It's going to be pretty dim.
      It is amazing . . . ✌️😎

    • @jm5390
      @jm5390 6 місяців тому

      The last 3-5 minutes before totality and during totality is unlike anything that can be described accurately. Before this eclipse, I would try to explain the drop in light and change of color tints before totality and the bluish purple sky of totality to people and get blank stares. Now that many of my friends & family saw this April 2024 eclipse, they get it. Many have told me it was weirder and better than they expected.

  • @chrisc2683
    @chrisc2683 8 місяців тому +1

    Awesome video. Your vibe and excitement is palpable. People who weren’t able to witness totality have a hard time understanding those of us that did. This is something for which there really are no words. Photos and videos of the event, don’t do it justice. This is something that you had to be present for in order to “understand”. And I use the word understand lightly because I’m still not fully sure what it was that I saw.
    I have to give you credit. I had one camera and I managed to take 11 shots of totality. When we got to 100%, I was stunned and almost frozen in place by what I was looking at. I had to force myself to look away in order to start taking pictures. And then during the 3 mins and 32 seconds, I found myself looking up and not paying too much attention to my camera. How you were able to manage 8 cameras, I have no idea but I’m glad you did. Great work.

    • @kylemccaslin
      @kylemccaslin  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! It really was something else.
      And yeah I was stresssssssssed XD. I fortunately got the cameras all recording/running, with one exception, before totality started. A funny thing happened though after I first tried to check my camera as we transitioned into totality. I didn't know how long it took me to double check it (probably ~15 seconds) but I had no idea how much time had passed. So all of totality felt like it could end any second, but also like it went on forever...
