We traveled east along the path of totality to watch a total solar eclipse. The experience left a lasting memory, and I know this won't be our last!
I used a small telescope (RedCat 61) and my Canon EOS Ra to take a video of the entire eclipse, and Ash used her Canon EOS R with a telephoto lens (Canon EF 400mm F/5.6) to capture photos.

I took my wife and 3 kids and drove Monday from Ontario on a journey chasing the promise of clear skies all the way into Quebec. The family thought I was borderline insane until the darkness descended in the middle of the day and Jupiter and Venus appeared as they witnessed the wonder of the total eclipse. With tears of joy streaming down my wife's face and my children trembling, struck by the grandeur of the universe, they suddenly realized that their lives were forever changed. This video perfectly captures that profound moment when our lives were touched by the celestial dance, reminding us of the vast, beautiful mystery that surrounds us. Thank you for preserving this unforgettable experience.
I live in Sherbrooke (Québec), on April 8th the sky was crystal blue for the first time in a while, i felt such gratitude for this. Amazing choice by you to go on a road trip with your family to witness this life changing experience.

I traveled 7 hours from home and endured 15 hours of constant rain. At two points along the journey rainbows appeared, but it still kept raining. After trying to sleep in the car with the rain hitting the roof until 3AM, the sunrise broke to perfectly blue skies. The only clouds in the sky were occasional vapor trails. I heard that New Brunswick also had bluebird skies. The skies in Bedford, Indiana couldn't be topped. Simply the most surreal thing I've experienced without psychedelics. Fastest four minutes ever.
I experienced the total eclipse in 2017.. beyond description, cameras can't capture. You have to be in the path of totality (I found a clear area (an airport) that happened to be in the middle of the path. Hopefully I'll be alive for the next ones that will be reasonably closeby (2045 and 2052).
Isn't it amazing? We can swim with dolphins, witness a volcano erupting, watch a twister churn up fields - all of which I've experienced or want to experience - but you describe it perfectly, 'the celestial dance'. It's not earthly, it's cosmic.
Your best video yet. This one made me cry. Such a special day. And Rest In Peace Alyn, he will be missed dearly.

It was the most amazing experience of my life. I had seen partial eclipses but the 100% totality was otherworldly. I am changed.
100% agree. I have seen and photographed partials, and they really are nothing, once you see totality you are indeed changed.
I always told people after my first total in 2017 that 99% isn't good enough, you have to get into 100%. Totality is just that amazing & I'm so happy for you getting to witness it.
I drove 1,700 miles to Arkansas to see my first total solar eclipse and I still don't have words to explain what I saw or what I felt. It was truly a life changing moment for me, similarly to the ways people like you and Alyn changed my life 4-5 years ago when I first learned I could photograph and document the sky in ways I never imagined. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
I'll never get bored to relive this moment. Thanks a lot for sharing!

This is some of the best photography I have encountered with this eclipse (or any eclipse for that matter). But it still doesn't capture the epic grandeur of seeing it live, which is not a slam to those filming it.
The idea of proposing during a total solar eclipse is actually the most romantic thing ever!
This was my second Total Solar Eclipse after 2017, and WOW what a show it was! Much darker and deeper than 2017 and so awesome with all those prominences visible naked eye during totality! Your video captures perfectly the experience, the anticipation, the thrill, all those overwhelming feelings summed up in 4 minutes of infinite bliss. Thank you for sharing this! Onward to the next one: my wife and I are so hooked up that we are already planning for 2026 in Spain!
I have watched this countless times and I cry every time I watch it. It was a life changing experience to seeing the eclipse. ❤
6:02: I watched it in Erie, PA in my front yard. I was REALLY bummed when it was over. I never wanted it to end. I felt so out of control. Normally I can look at or photograph an astro object as long as I want. This was the first time I felt so moved, yet so out of control and so helpless at the same time. I felt like I was just "GIVEN" the greatest gift I will ever see. It was an incredible reminder of how beautiful our universe is and how out of control we really are.
Great video Trevor! I haven’t heard about Alyn’s passing and I was actually shocked when it said in Memory of Alyn Wallace. I got his signed book for my birthday last year.

I think you both captured the raw emotion of a total eclipse of the sun perfectly. I took my family to see the 1999 total eclipse of the sun in Europe and it is experience that stays with you for a lifetime. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. RIP Alyn.

I live in Louisiana and attempted to photograph our ~82.1% solar eclipse, and the clouds were too horrendous to see anything but a small glimpse. I wasn't able to get any pictures. WOW. I’m not sure another video will ever capture the feeling/experience of viewing totality like this one did. From that opening shot in the beginning, I knew this one was gonna be amazing. It was like I re-lived totality over one more time.

It’s still hard to find any words to be able to properly describe the experience. Nicely said Trevor! Glad your trip was a success, and most of all, glad you and Ashley managed to see this with the naked eye! Truly one of the most amazing things a person will ever see.

Great video. Excellent pictures and video but as you said it's all about the experience. We had plenty of clouds at the winery in Jordan Station but we had some good partial views and about a minute of clearing at Totality . I think that the clouds enhanced the shadow, much darker than the totality We experienced in Missouri in 2017
I watched from a spot about 55km away from where you were, with the same landscape, the same snowstorm days before, and the same glorious clear skies on the big day. This is such a great record of the event as I experienced it. I'll definitely revisit this video whenever I want to relive the experience.

My wife and I had traveled to Carbondale ILL from Pennsylvania for this eclipse and meet our friends there. This was such an amazing experience that I have enjoyed so much. I met a lot new people and made new friends.
Yes, it is your best video, ever! I only had 40% available on the West Coast, but witnessed the 2017 Totality in Idaho. Your video brought that all back. My heart raced the same as before. It is a life changing event! Your already awesome video production skills were at their finest.

I've watched a number of videos about this eclipse but this was the first (and only) one to send a shiver down my spine and make the hairs on my neck stand up. Hearing all of your reactions and seeing the images was truely special. I have not yet experienced a total ecplipse but this genuinly feels the closest so far, thank you.
And a lovely mention at the end to Alyn ❤ I nevcer met him but we spoke via email a few times and he was such a lovely person so willing to help, he will be missed.
From the Mid-Atlantic we traveled to Texas, to try to escape the clouds. They parted just prior to first contact, and your video describes exactly the myriad emotions felt by all in the campground. I have been waiting since a missed eclipse in 1979 for this, and I finally have the feelings, but not the words, to describe it. Thank you for letting me relive those 3 minutes and 42 seconds again.
This is the best video I’ve seen yet…. Took me right back to the road trip.. the excitement that morning , and on the way…. Carrying hope all along the way that the clouds wouldn’t be a problem. And the best part of course…. Experiencing a total solar eclipse!!! You captured amazing video and photos AND you did really well at capturing the whole AWE of it!!!!! I cried on my way home driving while everyone briefly dosed off and I sat in the quiet and realized in silence all that I had just witnessed. ❤. Thank you Trevor. Like you, I was with friends and ready to record, but we were completely clouded in, only to have it clear literally 5 minutes after the end. Felt completely robbed. But got to live it through you and this video. Blew me away! Ditto to made me cry. Thinking of Alyn too.
I drove over 300 miles across the state just to see this. My first eclipse was the ring of fire last year, and I expected nothing but complete cloud cover and almost decided not to go. My friend texted me what our plans were and so I decided whatever, we'll have a fun road trip at best. I had no idea if my truck would even make it, being 40 years old and this being the longest trip I would've taken it on. I am SO GLAD we went because it cleared up just enough to see it, and there is nothing else like it. It easily beats seeing orion through a 12 inch. I also managed to get lucky and accidentally take the right photos to stack it and get a somewhat decent/crappy image but better than what I was expecting anyways. Being 18, I have a lot of time left and I want to see as many eclipses as possible because it was just the best thing I have ever seen and it brought out so much emotion.

No, I’m fine. I just have something in my eye. 😢. I was fortunate to be in the path in Indianapolis. Such an incredible event. I truly didn’t realize how emotional I was about it until reliving it through this video. All I could think about that day was Alyn. His enthusiasm for all things Astro, but especially an eclipse, was inspiring. I was never fortunate enough to meet him, but losing him has left a hole in the community. I hope he’s smiling down on us for getting to experience such a life changing event. Well done. Hearing Ashley’s voice in the background at totality was awesome. The raw energy/emotion was exactly what I was feeling on the inside.

In honors to Alyn and to you and your wife, Trevor, I drove myself from Las Vegas to Texas for my first photo of the Total Eclipse, which was an 18 hour drive since the flights were all so pricey. And it was worth every second of it. Not only did I manage to get my first photo, I manage to get a video of it. And with my first photo, I got a diamond ring for the Eclipse. I cried and screamed in pure joy from the awe and the energies around. It was profound and beyond incredible. And to me, you are my biggest inspiration in life and why I did it Trevor. I appreciate you and your wife. I will never forget this experience ever.

I was fortunate enough to have seen the 2017 eclipse and wanted my wife and kids the chance to at least witness one within their lifetime. Originally we were going to fly from Calgary to Toronto but when I noticed the weather had a significant chance or overcast, I changed the plan to fly to Montreal. No video or picture does the experience and view any justice.
Between the change in temperature, the “greyness” of the light and their shadows, the darkness of the hole that is the moon surrounded by the shimmering aura of the sun amd the red beads around the rim that are the solar flares, nothing can prepare you for the emotions.
Thank you for your video that allows me to remember that event.
I drove from Calgary. Woke up to clouds and light rain, but the gods smiled and let me see and photograph, just outside Port Burwell. It was incredible and worth the 8400km round trip.
I made it a 10 road trip with my 88 year old dad. Trip and experience of a life time. We may fly to another before he leaves. - Cheers

I was lucky to live in the path of totality and experience this eclipse in Indiana directly on the center line. We had 4 minutes of totality. One of the most beautiful 4 minutes I ever experienced. Something that unfortunately these videos just don't do justice. The actual eclipse itself looks so much bigger with the naked eye. The corona of the sun, seeing the prominences so clearly. To think this is the only time in my life I've ever actually seen the sun for what it is, and not just a big bright flare in the sky, it definitely made me emotional. I got goosebumps! And that weird 360 degree sunset. Did you notice the wind stopped? I captured the whole event with my phone and my drone, but you got far better footage than I did. Thank you for capturing it so perfectly!
Nice job Trev and Ash! My wife and I were deadline/centerline in SE Missouri, clear skies and perfect conditions. Got lots of good data from 3 cameras and scopes. But, none of the data can compare to the sight and experience of those 4 minutes. The wind died down, it got chilly and quiet, it felt like a dream. I was shocked how big it was in the sky, and seeing the huge magenta Ha prominences naked eye! Pretty amazing, glad so many of us shared this. RIP Alyn.

I’ve been fascinated with eclipses my whole life. I saw my first eclipse in 2020 which was a partial solar eclipse. I did not have eclipse glasses (which I know is very bad), I was amazed despite the fact I was only able to view it for a couple of minutes by rapidly squinting through THREE pairs of sunglasses before it was no longer visible.
Then in 2021 I saw a partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse was supposed to be near-total at its maximum, but I only saw about half of the partial phase until clouds took over. It was probably the most awesome thing I had ever seen at the time. Most people around me on my university campus didn’t even realize it was happening, but seeing the moon go from bright and full to only half illuminated over the course of an hour or so, was simply mind boggling to me; Maybe even more so that nobody else even noticed! I came to understand just how dim the moon really becomes when covered by our umbra, and realized that to view the Blood Moon phase (totality), would mean that it would have to be viewed on a literally PERFECTLY clear night.
Then came November of 2022. I witnessed a Blood Moon. The night was perfectly clear despite weather predictions. It was a great experience, and I really couldn’t believe I was witnessing it.
In October of 2023 I now had eclipse glasses, and was able to catch my first truly clear glimpse of a partial solar eclipse. Once again I was only able to look for a minute as the sun made an appearance through a very thick blanket of clouds, but was so blown away that I made the only (and fairly blurry), photo I had of it my screen saver on my phone so I could always look at it!
Then came April 8, 2024. I live in an area that was going to be 99.98% covered, but learned just before the eclipse that 99% is not even close to the experience of 100%. Considering my great interest in eclipses, and the incredible rarity of getting to experience totality, I knew I needed to get to the path. Although me being in 99% coverage meant I wouldn’t have to travel far, let me tell you the subway was an utter disaster that day beyond what words could possibly describe, and I failed to get to an area of 2 min 30 second totality like I planned, but got to a stunning high-ground waterfront park overlooking Lake Ontario which was not busy at all, and had a minute and a half of totality. Once again, it was supposed to be cloudy, but there was not a cloud in sight by the time the sun was 50% eclipsed. I was beyond lucky, and nowhere near prepared for how awesome what I was about to experience was.
I came to the conclusion that it is not possible to describe to someone what being in totality feels like, so I won’t even try. No photos, POV videos, or ANYTHING come even close to accurately depicting the experience. It is simply not possible. If you can afford it, I think you owe it to yourself to experience a total solar eclipse first hand. It is a life changing experience like nothing else; And let’s just say that I have a new screen saver!

It was absolutely and utterly fantastic to see with my family. We were in Texas close to Burnet, and despite the clouds, they cleared right as it was happening... I was shaking trying to get good pictures because the temperature had dropped, and I was successful in getting some of the solar flares. It was awesome!!!

Very nice! This was mine first in Popular Bluff Missouri and it was the most amazing thing that I’ve ever seen. One difference, it was nearly 80 degrees F and no snow on the ground. Great video like all of yours. Congratulations.
Drove all the way from Colorado to just east of Poplar Bluff on Highway 60. Beautiful weather. Beautiful country. What a day. My 85 year old dad's forst eclipse. Now he wants to go to Egypt in 2027.
An eclipse is an amazing phenomena to witness. Was looking forward to my 2nd one in Texas, but the clouds took it away. I am glad you enjoyed it with friends, which adds to the experience. I appreciate the dedication to Alyn, who will be missed by many.

I travelled to Dallas from California to see it. I’ve seen many eclipses - lunar, partial solar, annular…but this was a completely different experience.
The eclipsed moon and the pure white halo of the sun’s corona at totality is indescribably beautiful. I think the biggest surprise was that visually observed, the diamond ring moment wasn’t an elegant, subtly little gem of light - it was a moving, shimmering explosion of light from the side of the moon that then coalesced along its edge, before receding and leaving the beautiful, eerie sight of the fully eclipsed sun.
I videoed my reaction to totality, thinking I would narrate the moment for my friends and family back home, but instead it was just me saying Oh My God and It’s So Beautiful over and over. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in nature.
I hear Iceland is lovely in August - let’s go!

Alyn's sudden passing was definitely a shocker. I was stunned, I had recently commented on his video about 12P/ Pons - Brooks, then saw he was gone while I was still on my eclipse road trip. Life is short, live well, while you can.
It's coming up on 25 years since the first and so far only total solar eclipse I've experienced (hoping to add two more in 2026 and 2027). This video captured and allowed me to relive every moment of wonder and amazement that I felt back then. It brought tears to my eyes, just like totality did then. A truly amazing video, thank you.

Saw the one in 2017 as well as this one. And just like in 2017, I was in just complete awe. The way the lighting as totality gets closer is just, unique. IMO, it's getting darker sure, but, I'd describe it more as getting duller(?) The colours of our surroundings were just not as vibrant as they normally are. The gradual temperature shift. And the moment you take off the eclipse glasses to see totality is indescribable. Everything seemingly gets still. Seeing the strands of the corona gently moving around a pitch black center is just, speechless. And the diamond ring was a cherry on top. Loved every singly second of it.

Great video Trevor. I have seen 2 total eclipses and you are right, nothing compares to seeing an eclipse. Your video brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my eclipse experiences.
I am now an umbraphile - my wife and two boys traveled from DC to just south of Erie PA to see this one, and the weather cooperated at the last minute. It was INSANE! Well worth the 14.5 hours it took us to get home that night (normally a five hour drive).
Wow, seeing this in Carbondale last week left tears in my eyes. Simply, unforgettable. This video brought me right back to it and was very emotional for me to watch. Beautiful job on this, I will be showing this to my family and friends for a long, long time. Also, rip Alyn Wallace, he was a beautiful person, and it was very nice of you to include him at the end. He would have enjoyed this eclipse I know that for a fact.
Experiencing a total solar eclipse can't be described in words and pictures do not do it justice, having said that this video is the closest to re-creating the feelings I felt in Mena, AK on Monday April 8th. This is a beautiful work of art Trevor.
It was truly amazing to see in person, words fail me. Much better than any pictures i have seen.

Trevor, I was looking forward to your coverage of the eclipse. As usual, you and Ash did a fantastic job capturing the event.
We were clouded out in Brooklin Ontario where we gathered with friends. We made up for the bad weather with a campfire, Irish stew, and “refreshments”.
It appears the “rule” that the likelihood of clear skies is inversely proportional to the importance of the event( 99% total eclipse = 1 % chance of clear skies) still holds.

I took my 2 boys and met with my brother, aunt, and grandmother to watch. You really can't catch on camera the feel or look. Such a surreal event.

Fabulous event and videoing. It gave me the shivers. In my 74 years I have seen only one total, and I will never forget the dogs howling, the birds suddenly noisy then silent, and the awesomeness. I hope that I am around for the next one here in Oz in 2028.
Dear Trev, living in Europe it was impossible for me to witness totality first hand, but your video brought me so much. It's the best document I've yet seen of this extraordinary event, the one I will circulate to my friends who want to know more of the eclipse, and the thing that finally will spur me into action to prepare the trip to go see totality in Spain two years from now (I won't be around for the next totality in Italy, so I'd better move… ;D). This is a special video, and it vibrates with humanity and awe. This makes the dedication to Alyn Wallace even more meaningful. My regards to Ash, to your friend Stéphane and to his future wife!
I agree… I drove four hours after my morning job just to see my first total solar eclipse. Due to mostly cloudy skies in the Hill Country I stopped south of Mason, TX and I tell you everything, the environment, the sky was all getting orangey dim hue… I immediately knew something was about to happen. Finally after finding a spot few miles off the main road after a few minutes at 1:32pm part of the sky was getting dark. The clouds were moving….crickets started to chirp and then I would see the sun become diamond ring effect and near darkness…During totality I could see the beautiful, crisp, white glow of the sun’s corona… There are no words, no words at all to describe how spectacular the total solar eclipse was.. Even today, I feel way different from before because of this event….
I still can't get over how amazing the eclipse was. There are no words, I definitely teared up seeing it. I am pretty happy with the images I have gone through so far. I still have my tracked images to put together into a timelapse. This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your experience, Tevor!
Of course pictures and videos can never do it justice, but what you captured was the emotion. I didn't expect to get choked watching it in person, and I think that's what people don't realize who haven't seen it. You can see thousands of the same old eclipse photos online, but to see it in person is a surreal experience. Like gazing upon a red rose for the first time when all you saw was black and white. Thanks for a video that lets us relive the experience.
