I know what you mean - my father passed away in 1991 at age 74 and my mother in 2011 at age 91. To this day and always - at age 65, I miss both of them more then words can express. Every day of my life they are both in my heart and mind and I constantly think of them. Best Parents in all the world. On thing I Know they are both in Heaven With God. Knowning this gives me peace of mind and happiness. Blessings To All. P.S. Marty Robins was one of my Parents Favorite Singers.
I haven’t seen my father for 10 years now and he is turning 70 this year. I miss him immensely even more so as the ravages of old age have taken hold of his body and mind. It was this song he used to play for me as a young boy as well as Neal Young’s song “my boy”. I just played this to my eldest son (12) to let him know that even if time and countries or unforeseen circumstances separate us as it has between my father and myself, that I love him and his brothers and that having them be a part of my life is as precious to me as the way these words so aptly describe the love and admiration I have for my hero, my father. May life treat you all well and may you leave a lasting impression on those who love respect and admire you, as a son does his father. Such a lovely song and so beautifully sung. Thank you Marty Robbins.
My Dad was only 48 when he passed away,didn't get a chance to see all family grow up or see any of his great grandchildren, miss you so much Dad xx
I loved my Daddy.. he showed me the love of a mother, so tender and lovable, never let me down or spoke a harsh word.I am so grateful for this Daddy who was so kind to me.. tears fill my eyes as I remember him... Thank You Almighty God for showing me Your Love through this earthly Father.
This song really describes the relationship between a father and a child. How precious a dad is. I can't wait to be a dad one day, it will be amazing and I love my dad very much. We share something very special and I'm fond of him! He's my idol!
Great song of a great man who problaby a great wonderful father to his son Ronnie and daughter Janet.My own father past away in 1993 at the age of 62.But He will alway's stay in my memory for as long as I will live.He also was a great wonderful father who was good for his wife and his eleven sons.I miss him and my mother every day and I will hope that he and my mother may rest in peace.Thanks for posting.

I'm 62 and I used to listen to this song on an old 78 rpm record....I wish I could find that version again...
I met my father for the first time 4 years ago on my 50th birthday. It just so happens that his favorite singer is Marty Robbins. I was scrolling through his songs and stumbled on this. In the last 4 years he has shown me the love of a father that I never dreamed I'd have. This song will be very special to me from now on.

My father died a few months before I was born. I never knew a father's love. However listening to this song always touch my heart and make me wish I had a father. For those of you whose fathers are still with you, do treasure them. Any kindness or love that you can show them, please do it today. For tomorrow may never come. funny I had an early relationship with my pa pa that was abusive too, but through seeking healing i realised he had a lot of problems from the war and his life and this is what made him like this. By the end of his life we were the best of friends, we expressed love and I knew I was cherished... truly cherished. He passed away on feb 8th and today we took his remains out to sea. I have just posted this utube song on utube, a true relationship miracle

My Mom used to sing this song as she had a beautiful voice. She is missed. No I miss my papa who died a year ago next month. When I hear this I cry, it is so beautiful, the words are touching my soul.
