I love us foundational black Americans, we made what we had and now it's embedded in American society, We different ❤️ I'm making this today thank you so so much.
I worked with a blck guy from Detroit. He was so shocked to see me eating collards and black eyed peas with cornbread I made at home. He said he didn't know that YT people made "soul food". That definitely gave me a chuckle. I blew his mind when I said that I eat black eyed peas on New Years. He acted like I had infiltrated blck culture and learned all of the secrets.
Yummy!!! I'm fixing this for dinner tonight. Hello from California. Thank you for sharing this. And I love your bright sunny sweet way of sharing your love of cooking. What a treat!
I planted some collards as an experiment when I cleaned out my summer garden in October. I don't think I had ever tasted collards before. They grew well, but I had to harvest them right before this cold snap hit Georgia over Christmas. I used this recipe and OH MY WORD!!!!! Why have I not ever eaten collards??? This recipe was amazing and I'm so mad that I've been sleeping on collards for the 40+ years of my existence!
I made these collards and by far these are the best greens I have cooked so far. It was quick and simple just like you said. I have been boiling my greens for hours and they never ever came out this good. First time using onions and bacon made a big difference. Thanks for this recipe …..
I'm making em right now. Thanks. My mom told me my brother in laws Collard greens with bacon recipe but none of the directions. But this is it :-). This is probably where he got it LOL thank you very much
Absolutely perfect! Thank you for taking your time to share this recipe. My grandmother always cooked them she’s gone along with the recipe. These were so good my Sunday dinner beans and ham hocks, turnips, your collard greens recipe along fresh cucumber onion tomato salad and cornbread! Perfect thank you.
I learned to cook southern style. No recipe just keep adding til the Holy spirit says so. Yours is fairly close to how I do them. Got a big bbq this weekend and figuring out recipes I want to bring
Last year, I made these collard greens for my sister's birthday and they were a huge hit! My sisters had tried many collard greens before but never liked them until I made this recipe. I'm here again to refresh my memory because these are the best collard greens I've ever tasted. ❤🤤🤤
Love this recipe & it’s the only recipe my husband & I use. Tweaked it a little bit by using freshly grated garlic. A good chicken broth instead of water and bullion. Love the splash of vinegar & a bit of liquid smoke. What ever both is left over goes in my wine glass. Collard wine. Love 💕 it & thank you…
I’m taking a bit recipes to make some soul food tomorrow, I’m pregnant & that’s all I’ve been craving!!! My husband is blck/ American as well so I’m so excited to try & cook for him tomorrow! Pray for me 😩😂 I’m Spanish all I cook is Spanish food , he loves it but I’m sure he wants some soul food!!! Cause I sure do !! ❤❤
I just made these for Thanksgiving…super good. You never mentioned what to do specifically with the season salt but it still came out 🔥🔥🔥1st time making greens
Absolutely delicious! I used chicken broth and added two small packets of chicken ramen powder, doubled the bacon and the amount of collards and it was amazing! Hats off to you! Fantastic recipe!
Making this now yep delicious flavor. If your greens not like an organic or garden soft just cook longer an keep eyes on if mines not soft as I like it will be in the pressure cooker soon to finish it out with a little chicken broth.
Was raised on collards! Just about every other Sunday dinner had them!... Was taught early how to cook them too!... Glad you are using whole leaf!... Bagged is Blasphemy!... I like that chicken powder idea!... I just used either smoked Hog Jowl or salt pork & fat back
Let me know too? I been wanting some greens with hot water for awhile. But I need to find me a instant pot (first one) on the small size. Any suggestion is welcome.
Sourthern born and raised here. Though everyone I know eats greens, this side was unfortunately missing our our family meals. We are more of a fried cabbage family. I am here to try and make myself like it. :)
I became the caregiver for my younger sister, I've been teaching myself how to cook (some good, some bad). We both love bacon and collard greens. Cross your fingers, I'm going in on this recipe.
Just found your channel and the collard greens look delicious. Also, I like that you print the recipes for your subscribers. I just subscribed to your channel.🙏🏽💕
Great video. Your voice kept cutting out but I got the idea perfectly. Gonna make this for Easter dinner. I haven't had collard greens in 25 years so I'm very excited
Every step you added, I just thought "mm, gonna be a dream come true", it came out looking so good. Folks dont know what they're missing. I gotta make me some of this.
I am glad that I was born and raised in Lake city sc, Where our GRANNIES did put all that mess in food, They used FATBACK and BUTT meat or the grease along black pepper and salt.
Nice recipe. However, you should consider "talking" more as you put the ingredients in so we know what measurements to use & how long to cook them. That would've been more helpful. Thanks.
We have another video with the entirety of my words. UA-cam took some of it out because of the music. Check out the other video and the measurements should also be in the description.
Made the recipe today. Not a fan of the jarred garlic flavor, as it stands out quite a bit compared to fresh minced garlic from a bulb. Would like to try again with that substitution.
You’re the chef , not me. Why does it looking like the greens are already cooked? I did cook my bacon and onions and garlic separately, but I am confused as to why your collared greens already looked cooked ? I am not a troll lol, just curious is all. Great video and a different way than I cook mine so thank you for the different recipe. Looks delicious! ❤❤
Not sure what you saw, but we place the raw greens into the skillet early in the video. We do have another video with full sound that may explain things a little better. ua-cam.com/video/AYtwHGy9vjw/v-deo.htmlsi=CUYWDYd76bhzNqkX
That's why I made another video. YT did this to the first one so the sound is messed up. Look in the comments for the link to the other video with all the sound.

It sounds like you cook with hate instead of love lol relax, and maybe take some notes in a journal or notebook. Then you don’t gotta listen to no music big boy
You had me until, at the end, you said 'maga' - apropos nothing. It might mean something perfectly innocent. Other commenters don't bother yelling at me. I made the collards and 👍 the video.
Hi🌻 I don't know what maga means beyond the tRump thing "make America great again". I can't stand him, so I was concerned/confused about this in her video.
Also, collard greens are unique, not spinach, bok choy, or any other green! They are tough, big, and have to cook for a longer time. It's a southern tradition here in US to have them on New Years day. Maybe for good luck, or to get more money. Anyway, hope you try it, I really liked the final dish.
You're not explaining what are you putting in it you just playing the music nobody knows what are you putting in what are you doing you just shaking stuff

Facts, FBA DIFFERENT different....
Foundational black Americans brought their cooking habits with them to America from Africa. Just facts.
That would be for every race so every race is different

Hi! I’m using precut greens? How many bags to use for this recipe?
You can use about 3. Make sure to take out the big stems.
Thank you for your recipe. Just a note: don't keep plastic containers next to a hot stove.
Ok, thank you
Keep it up !!!!
Check out the newest video!

Was that hot sauce you used? What is the cooking time?
yes it is and you cook it until it's tender enough for you. Taste it! About an hours.

oooh they were frozen because I picked them and then froze them. That's why they look like that.

So what if there is no sugar added. Would that be tasteless??
No not tasteless, but it may be a little bitter.
Why the music? This looks delicious but I like to hear the cook
That's why I made another video. YT did this to the first one so the sound is messed up. Look in the comments for the link to the other video with all the sound.

As I’m sitting here at work eating some bland as hell meatloaf from the cafeteria…..
I'm so sorry pookie bear!!!! lol make this next time!
the music ruined this presentation. why don't these cook talk us thru the recipe. without the terrible music
It sounds like you cook with hate instead of love lol relax, and maybe take some notes in a journal or notebook. Then you don’t gotta listen to no music big boy
That's why I made a seperate video. This was a youtube glitch. the other video is in the description
lol
You have a little to much stems on your greens!!
feel free to pick them as much as you want!
No she don’t…. I’ve seen greens cooked with way more stems than that. What she has is okay, she’s mainly got the leaves
The sugar Spoiled this dish
maybe you put too much in, it shouldn't be sweet you use it to cut the bitterness
You had me until, at the end, you said 'maga' - apropos nothing. It might mean something perfectly innocent. Other commenters don't bother yelling at me. I made the collards and 👍 the video.
What is maga? Is that ingredient? I'm in the UK and want to try this recipe. Never had collard greens.
