- Here I show you how you can play a few jazzy bass chords. These easy-to-play chord voicings can be used for working out "changes" (chord sequences), for solo bass, and for teaching.
The backing track is from Band-in-a-Box at www.pgmusic.com

George
ok! Thanks
Very good.hallo from greece
Great. Thanks for your post ... and hello from Down Under Australia.
George
Your bass should have been louder the backing track was not loud enough either but otherwise good clear instruction
Thanks for your comments, Ken. You are correct - sometimes my mix is not ideal for all listening environments. I keep trying to improve :)
Kind regards,
George
thanks for the lesson. Any idea about 9th and 11th chords in a 4 string? in any alt tuning? thanks
+izziOnBass
Yes, it is easy enough to play extended chord voicings on 4-string bass. As long as you know all chord tones in all chords you can apply the notes you select to a bass in any tuning.
With 11th chords, do you mean sus4? I ask this because this will determine how to best voice the chords on bass.
Kind regards,
George
+BassLessonsOnline Hi George thanks for the reply. I think I asked a blunt question, I also did some reading and found it can be played. Any idea to play 7thsus2 chor? Thank you
Hello Izzi
Yes, you can play a 7 sus2 chord within 4 frets on bass. Try, from low to high strings, root, fifth, flat seventh, second (ninth). This creates an uncluttered voicing.
I hope this helps.
Kind regrads,
George
Is this a cover of "isn't she lovely?" by stevie wonder
Hello Matt
This is not a cover of any song. However, what you recognized was the IIm7 V7 chord sequence which is in "Isn't She Lovely" - so well done!
Kind regards,
George
Nice vid! Thanks! Your bass volume is a wee bit too low. Fyi, louder, would be nice. Good vid nonetheless!
Thanks. In this example I wanted to have the chords "embedded" in the music, as opposed to standing out. Its good with headphones ;)
Can't hear your bass my volumes are up and fine
Theory is good, but can't hear the bass. Thanks anyway for putting it on.
may you speak slowly . and you show me each rhythm to understandable please, my teacher
Thanks
Can't hear you
Hello Yserick
I just checked the video and found the volume and balance of the tracks to be fine, even on a laptop.
You may have to check the settings on your device. Good luck!
Kind regards,
George
Works fine on my computer as well. Awesome lesson. TY so much!!
