- We were fortunate to have been a small part of the story of Bette Joan Rac and her fashion legacy. Through Alex @CuriosityIncorporated we purchased an attic filled with some of her favourite pieces and happily brought them out of the dark and into the lives of vintage lovers far and wide! This video shares a few of her pieces that we still have in the shop as well as a bit of our experience in this fascinating story. We’re a local vintage shop passionate about sustainable fashion and sharing the stories of people in our community, and we hope you enjoy this latest episode featuring a character of epic proportion! We look forward to sharing our stories with you!
Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe.

I have bought 6 different Rac jewelry pieces. SHe sure had good taste
Definitely wonderful taste!🥰
Bravo!!! I’m sure many that watched this journey from the beginning would have loved to have seen the amazing clothing in more detail. Thank you for letting us in on a small piece of it. Wonderful video ladies, I hope to see more💜
Thank you so much for watching, it means a lot to us🥰
It would be great if the photo of Madam Rac wearing the item was included with the purchase of the suit or the dresses.
Great idea! We’ll definitely include the photos if someone wants them🥰
I love it when the piece is brought close to the camera to see the detail. More please!
Absolutely!
Wonderful video. I watched Betty Joan's story from the beginning when Alex bought the house. I'm glad so many of her clothes and other belongings found a niche with people. I think she would be pleased and surprised how things turned out.
I agree! I think she would be pleased her things were so loved🥰
thank you for sharing
Great.... Thanks
Bette Joan was quite the fashionable lady. She certainly had beautiful high quality clothing. If I remember correctly from Alexander’s videos, her father was a tailor.
Yes, he was! Thank you for watching ❤️
I added a comment on Alex's latest video about your video & posted the link as well. Hopefully it'll drive more subs & views. 🙂👍
Thank you! Much appreciated 🥰
Great video, Ladies.
Enjoyed seeing some amazing clothes from Madame Rac's Collection. Hoping someone tiny will scoop them up.
Hello ladies, such spectacular Madame Rac clothing, wonderful to see it brought back to life again. Loved the green multi colour dress and so lovely to see the photo of Madame Rac wearing it, I wished it was my size! Thank you for doing this video, you’re both doing a brilliant job of it, loving the relaxed way of showing the pieces, take care.
So glad you enjoyed it! We’re very new to this and will stumble along the way. 🥰
Cyd in the USA. I watched as Alex took us on the journey through Bette Joan Rac's home. I did wonder where all the clothing went. I'm so happy to hear that the clothing continues to give people so much joy and even helps give back to the music she loved. You are wonderful custodians of the history of fashion.
Thank you for your kind words and for watching ❤️
Great video. Really enjoyed it. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this episode I watched Alexis’ labor of love at Betty Joan’s house. I LOVE the photo album i thought you should keep it as it seems to fit your wonderful store but I understand moving it forward. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching ❤️❤️
Fabulous video can't believe you have all those pictures they are amazing
They are!
Found you through Alex. Glad I did. Very interesting, and fun. You both are great.
Thank you❤️❤️❤️
Great reminder of how one can recycle and reuse clothing even if the squirrels have gotten at them. Love your store and all your posts on instagram!
Thank you for watching ❤️
Loved this episode. She was truly unique women .
I loved the Madam Rac series! So beautiful that you were able to raise money for a music scholarship! She was so beautiful! Thanks for sharing what’s left of her collection! Loved seeing the photos again!
Thank you so much for watching 🥰
She was such an amazing woman. I really enjoyed this. What excellent clothing. I love the fabrics and artistic cut. Thanks for sharing this with us. From Ohio.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Such lovely clothes
I absolutely love what was done to the squirrel chewed pieces. That soutache style design on the blue jacket is stunning, The flower pins that were obviously made with some fabric harvested from the pink suit are super adorable. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
I love that you give the measurements for every piece! It makes it so much easier to decide if it would be the correct size.
Thanks so much for doing this video, I was so curios about what happened to all those clothes, furs, bags...Glad you could save and resell Madame's treasures.
Thanks for watching 🥰
I loved the Madame Rac story because my wife of thirty-five years is a very thin, piano teacher/painter but very practical with a MBA. She gets mail from her native Singapore addressed to Madam Chung. Thanks for the video.
How wonderful❤️
Well done ladies! you did her proud!! x if only I could get into Natasha's favourite!! would really go with my motorbike-in-the-garage-for-the-nght look!! lol 💜
Thanks for watching! Yes, we all wish we could fit into those😂🌸
I’m so excited that Alex introduced his followers to your store & what a lovely video of Madam Rack’s gems. I wore size 3 in college but waved goodby decades ago. I would love the skirt suit with the beaver collar but it’s too large. I’m looking forward to your Saturday presentation. I live in Albuquerque, NM & can’t wait for the Liberty Scarves, I visited Liberty’s during the Queens Jubilee and bought the most exquisite fabrics & Burda patterns which weren’t sold here then so I felt vary fashionable at the time. Years ago I was in Victoria for an art conference & bought an exquisite 40’’s tweed skirt suit & fabulous sunglasses.
Thank you for your kind words and for watching❤️I LOVE Liberty too and am a textile-a-holic! We’ll show the scarves when they’re back from the cleaners🥰
At Alex's auction, I bought a boat load of Madame racs jewelry. Shipped all the way to the UK and I treasure every piece X
Treasures indeed! Thanks for watching 😊
*THANK YOU!!!* This was a beautiful tribute to Madame Rac! The care and time you put into salvaging her collection shows what truly wonderful people *YOU* are.
Thank you, it was definitely a labour of love!
I am so glad you got some of Madame Rac's clothing items and are showcasing with us. This allows us to appreciate them as much as you do. I don't feel like the guy that got the bulk of the clothing and all the fur coats (Mark?) had near the appreciation for them and was just interested in a quick turnover.
Thanks for sharing ladies.
I don’t know Marc’s situation and can only speak to our experience. We were definitely determined to bring a new life to everything that comes our way! Thank you so much for watching 🥰
Oh man I would love to buy the album! Who ever gets it is gonna have such a fun time looking through Bette’s history of fashion !!
❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching ❤️
Really enjoyed your vlog, especially since I’ve just recently watched the whole series on Madam Rac. The whole adventure was so interesting and great to see the items which you acquired and told us about. She must have been quite a lady. Looking forward to more of your blogs.🥰🇨🇦
Thank you so much for watching❤️
I had a squirrel problem in one storage garage. The smell is worse than cats. They tear fabrics into shreds for bedding. They are very handy (not in a good way!).
Would loved to have seen a video of the different artist redone jackets from the contest. Did you make a video of the entries?
We do have some old videos from the contest! Thanks for reminding me, I’ll find them and post them🥰
@@swishvintagefindsforyoursa6094 Thanks So much.
Angela, please watch out for phishing comments, and report them.
Hi, love Natasha's skirt. Just wanted to ask who it's by so I can track one down for myself.
I'd love to see outfit of the day introduction in your videos as you both look super stylish.
Natasha’s skirt is vintage and unlabelled so probably pretty tough to duplicate! Thanks for watching and we’ll consider your suggestion 🥰
So much fun! I’ve subscribed, commented, and sent to two different social media platforms!!
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching ❤️
@@swishvintagefindsforyoursa6094 I’m so pleased you’ve started a channel! I’ve done historical costuming since 1972 and loved seeing your shop when you showed up on Curiosity Inc. That photo album would be a lovely addition to a costumer’s library! I’m not active anymore or I’d snatch it up myself!
I enjoy real videos not scripted or acted, so enjoyable.
Thank you❤️
The Albert Nippon is very 80s does 40s.
Is the cranberry wool skirt "on sale" or "for sale"? Is the price going backup to a different price?
I am a size 4! Actually I can wear sizes from a junior sized 14-16 to a 2 and mainly a 3 but settle on a four because I can’t find size 3’s. My bust is a 34!
Anything you are needing to “cast off as a tax donation” just let me know. I’ll pay for the shipping! Lol
(But, seriously!)
We’ll keep you mind😊
I was hoping you wouldn’t do a piece on the wonderful finds at the musicians house!
Ladies came from Alex and love watching you. However the sound is not great. Can just about hear you x
We’ll be more mindful of that😊
