Hi Deborah, how are you finding the Bible? I wondering specifically about the cover because I am not familiar with Thomas Nelson's "leatherflex". Thanks

Hi@@M-JACOY , still enjoying this bible very much🥰 I would say that the leatherflex feels similar to leathersoft in texture, but is thinner and a bit stiffer. The cover softens up and flexes easily with regular use. Once broken in, the bible stays open and reasonably flat, even in Genesis.
The font size, coupled with the roomy line spacing, sentence breaks, generous page margins, good balance of white space to text, line matching, paper opacity, darkish bold red for Christ's words and medium contrast between text and page colour makes for a very pleasant reading experience.
It's a good all round bible, perfect for reading (I don't find the centre column references distracting), and for study with the references and concordance.
My only gripe is that I wish it was a bit shorter and narrower (so it could easily fit in my handbag), and had ribbons. However, I've not found an NKJV version in a smaller footprint that's as easy to read with well spaced text. For the text size and centre column references, it's still reasonably compact and portable. You can buy this same bible in a "deluxe" version with leathersoft cover and two ribbons, if you want ribbons (gluing some ribbons to a thin piece of cardstock and sliding cardstock between the spine and cover would also work).
Overall, it's a lovely bible for the price, and one you'll not regret buying for yourself or someone else.
      Hope that helps, Deborah.

Bought this Bible on the strength of your review. It's stunning, blue leathersoft cover and rose gold edging looks amazing. Great size readable print too!

@@James-nh6nk The cover and gilding combo on yours sounds lovely! I hope you enjoy and get a lot out of it. This is still my main bible and holding up well construction wise, although the gold edging is wearing to a green(!) patina with use. I''ll likely get it rebound with premium leather, art gilding, ribbon markers and other accents in the future as the leatherflex cover isn't the most durable, but the text block paper and binding is good quality and will hold up well over time.

i know it might not be easy to find, but how familiar are you with regards to the updates of the NKJV. 1982 i know is the year the first was published, but i don't know who the original publisher was, but what years did the New King James get updated. i know the KJV went through numerous updates being that it's the oldest, but i always wanted to know what were the best years for NKJV as far as updates. the NIV went through two updates, the 84 which was around for a long while until 2011.

I started reading a really cool book about the NKJV that I recommend, even though I never finished it (I'm always reading too many books at the same time and some of them get left behind, I need to get back to it). The tittle is: "The New King James Version: In the Great Tradition" by Dr. Arthur L. Farstad, who served as the Executive Editor of the New King James Version of the Bible. The original publisher was Thomas Nelson. In page 41 we can read: "The first edition of the New Testament was issued in 1979. The next production was the New Testament with Psalms, published in 1980. The complete Bible appeared on August 2, 1982."
This book is not new, it dates from 1989, so it does not give me any recent updates. I know that officially the translation was never revised but I've read that some people have found a few minimal changes over the years, even though I don't have that information at hand right now. I hope this helps...
