- The second part of my comparison between the XHDATA D-808 vs the Sangean DPR-69 Plus. This was done during a tropo lift from France. The station received here is also France Musique although this is from the Caen relay rated at 100kW, distance from my location is around 107 miles / 205 km. Both radios were using their own telescopic antenna extended to the same length.
Received in the UK during a DXpedition in the field.
What's the about the DPR 69 with one version being better on FM the other better on DAB ? Which version do you have if this is really true ?
The version I have I think is the one better for DAB, but tbh I am not 100% sure. I spoke to you before on Discord so hopefully you can manage to get this radio & the version you want.
@@mutezone hi yes just have to buy one from Amazon I guess. Good battery life?
Very good battery life when I use Duracell alkalines.
Nice Comparation. Looks Like Sangean Win. So, i will buy this portable soon. 73s from Romania
Thank you very much. Yes I 100% recommend the Sangean for DAB & FM DXing. 73s!
Interesting A/B test. Based on some other clips I found on YT, I thought the XDATA was pretty sensitive on FM but it looks like the Sangean is even better. Their price is about the same here.
I will be doing more tests when I can since I think the XHDATA has a flaw on the FM band preventing better reception. Cheers.
I hope you don't own a faulty unit. Cheers ;-)
Nice comparison! Thanks for sharing. This unfortunately shows that, while the XHDATA is superb on mediumwave and shortwave, it is a bit disappointing on FM.
Yes, there is something lacking with the FM performance of the XHDATA. Cheers.
Just wish the Sangean had an external antenna socket but obviously better than the xhdata
I agree, especially for DAB as well.
And Sangean wins again. Thanks for posting&73!
Thanks for watching & 73s!
Another clear win for the DPR-69...quite an FM DX machine! Thanks again and 73! Clint
I bought it only for DAB, but to have good FM performance is a great bonus since it also has RDS for easier ID'ing. No problem again sir & 73s!
The soft-mute was definitely created by the enemy
Nice test. The result is predictable in favor of Sangean. 73!
Thank you very much. Yes the Sangean has cleaner sound. 73s!
My vote goes to the Sangean.
Thanks for watching & commenting.
Sangean strikes again. 73!
I agree as well. 73s!
What what I've seen the sangean dps 69 is a great f.m. radio and that's what I want. Face it if you want to pass a great reception radio through you have to go with the money. Better grab them f.m. lovers cause I don't know about the future of radio. I think these don't have d.s.p. chips, sounds too good to have d.s.p.chips. last summer I went on a radio fling buying all kinds of radios , all having d.s.p. chips . My older radios without the chips work better. Oh before you laugh and say he said chips , I ain't nothing but a bag of chips, but let me have that sangean 69 , the 45 looks just like the c.c radio, antenna is too small on that one. CHIP!
You are right with regarding radios, you will have to spend more to get something better. I would say the Sangean used in this comparison is the best portable I have for FM DXing, although the D-808 can have slightly better selectivity. What I really bought the Sangean for was for DAB, it has all the features needed for when DXing on that part of the band. The good FM performance is a bonus though.
Sangean wins again.
Thanks for watching.
