    Hope you enjoy the installation process, it was fairly simple to do and while I used the special tools because I wanted to clean the oil spinner, you might not need to remove the spinner in order to change just the lifter plate and springs. The tools are fairly cheap though, just be sure to purchase a flywheel holder tool that has smaller than 7mm pins, as the one I bought has 7mm & 9mm pins, and they were too big. 5mm pins are what you'll want to look for. I've provided a link to the appropriate flywheel holder tool similar to what is specified the in manual.
    Speaking of the manual, this is an extremely helpful tool to have. Maybe the most helpful! I follow the process outlined in the manual for the video, but showed some other steps that I had to take to make things easier, such as taking the rearset off and disconnecting a few things to make that easier.
    Be very careful when tightening the small 6mm bolts because they only call for 9 ft/lbs of torque, which is next to nothing and should really be an inch/lb measurement because 9 ft/lbs on a 3/8" torque wrench is so low it doesn't even click! I broke one of the small aluminum side case bolts with the regular 3/8" ratchet, they are really fragile and the OEM bolts aren't much stronger!

    Upgrade clutch springs are a great thing. Word of warning do not upgrade the springs without this billet clutch spring cluster. It will break . I went 60% upgrade.

      Appreciate the note on that, I didn't know if the stock piece would hold up to stiffer springs or not. Probably would be ok with the 15% springs, but it's different with 30 and more so with 60% for sure.

    I ordered the plate from MNNTHBX for my 2022 GROM here in Thailand (as that other place that's out in Irwindale CA just DGAF about those who live outside North America!.........I don't think I have to mention names here do I Steady Garage?).....hey I'm paying the freight here!...so be it!
    I'm going w/ 60% SMR Springs and 14t front sprocket for more street power (I'm not a stunt rider) but I will also drill and tap the 3 other holes and obtain the stock Honda Screws as well for best results while using a stock Honda Clutch pack for best results as i feel that it gives stability to all the springs equally!.....this is where torque comes in as well when everything is equally torqued equal pressure is applied across the board....plus I use Blue Loctite inside/outside the motor and on all bolts as well.
    just things I've learned from racing stock cars and working in the Aviation industry.......

    John, do you think it’s possible to change lifter plate & springs without removing oil spinner? Thanks for another great video. I’ve watched quite a few of your Monkey videos & finally subscribed yesterday. You’re an asset to the community!

      Thanks for that Larry! Yes I believe that is possible, and wanted to remove the spinner to clean it as I filled it at the same time to make a separate video to show that process.

      @@John5XR thanks for the quick reply! I have a 2021 with about 450 miles. Used plain Honda GN4 10W-30 for a 300 mile oil change & added magnetic oil drain plug. Will pull cover at 600 miles, clean spinner & filter screen, change lifter plate (Chimera) & 60# springs (Sex Machine Racing); switching to full synthetic at that time also (Honda HP4S 10W-30). Have added Termignoni exhaust, Chimera intake & DHM Stage 1 ECU tune. Still thinking about adding cam (yep, would need another ECU reflash), not sure yet. The mods I’ve done really woke up the little Monkey but clutch feels a little weak so thus the planned upgrade. Will check valves at 1000 miles, not waiting til 4k (I hear a lot of people find them too tight which is NOT good!). TB Parts mystery shocks on their way from Canada. All other mods (tail tidy, oil fill plug, seat, front fairing, luggage rack, etc.) basically cosmetic except mirror extenders which is more for safety.

    John, I have a new monkey 2024. My clutch lever is very high or almost out before it engaging the transmission.. Is this normal? My other honda bike seems to engage much sooner.. How do I adjust this?

    I bought the same lifter plate fro MNNTHBX and it was all but impossible to get the bearing in the lifter plate even after freezing the bearing. I oiled both the plate and bearing as you did but the bearing would now go in without considerable force from a hammer and socket. I’ve had in in and out quite a few times and you also can’t just pull the bearing out, it has to be tapped out fro the other side. MNNTHBX said it’s made to spec but I’m not sure the one I have is.

    I'd like to tune Monkey125 into an automatic centrifugal clutch. Is it possible to transplant the one from c125?

    What's the benefit of having this plate over stock?

    • @John5XR
      @John5XR  3 роки тому +1

      If you wanna upgrade the stock clutch springs, this plate is a bit better suited to handle the extra pressure. The stock piece is cast aluminum, this is billet aluminum. Probably not a huge difference in “seat of the pants” feel unless you change to a stiffer spring. Stiffer springs will help allow the clutch to slip less when navigating steep uphills or when adding power. I wanted to upgrade the springs after I went trail riding in the mountains. The steep uphills at slow speeds expose a weak feeling clutch
