I loved it and it feels like the book. Like yeah he is mad about him and his family being written about, but he is more mad that he can’t protect her.

Frankly, most women of the ton at that time expected that their husband's would protect and provide. That was how their society was structured. The women weren't equipped or even allowed to take care of themselves. It's not just a hero complex that Colin is talking about here. It's the entire thrust of his (and every other man's) education and socialization through his whole life. That Pen has a career, her own money, and the will to use them to protect herself, which is not only unusual, it is not allowed at that time. He couldn't be expected to know or trust that she could handle it herself. Now, absolutely. But not then.
Anthony READY to defend Penelope's honor gives me life, I hope we get to see more of how the Bridgertons care for Penelope, it was one of my favorite bits :(
I never read the books but i heard that athony had a very brotherly love for pen way before her a colin got toghether like hed defend her all the time. Its been 2 and 1/2 season and theyve never interacted so im hoping they do this last part

During one of these parties, Cressida and her group of friends mocked and belittled Penelope until Penelope almost cried from the humiliation. Anthony stepped up and defended Pen. He directly called Cressida out for being cruel, and asked Penelope for a dance. THIS is when Kate realized she loved Anthony.

@bellatrixareforkids7406 A UA-camr just did a compare and contrast of this season so far to the book. Anthony had thoughts on Colin's announcement that he would never marry Penelope. Going so far as to walk her home and apologize for his brother's statement as him and Benedict's playful prodding had provoked it.
I literally laughed out loud at that line.

The trailer might look like Pen’s sister and mom found out through Lady Whistledown but we’ll see. In the books Colin did it properly and asked Lady Featherington. If he is truly a gentleman then he will follow proper customs and talk to Pen’s mom.

@@sersastark I think in a way that he has never courted her. And hasn't displayed any kind of clue that he is interested in her in that manner. And since Penelope has been a family friend of them for years, I think his brothers didn't really see her becoming part of their family in that way. But I don't agree when they say that Colin realizing his feelings for Pen was rushed because in our perspective, he always had feelings for her, he just hadn't realized that sooner. But the moment he did, he went all in lol
@@sersastark Yes they known each other for years but Colin discovered the true nature for his feelings only a short time before and now he is going to announce his engagement to his family. The only time when Pen and Colin where both are avere (at the same time) that they are not friends but more is the ride from the ball home. (Where there is not much time to talk, as we all know 🤣)

@scaryapothefairy Colin's implying that he's compromised her, which is why Benedict made the dueling joke. In the book, Colin did this too - implied to his and Pen's mother that he and Pen had already been having sex so their wedding was brought forward in case she was already pregnant.

Netflix has often canceled shows due to poor ratings, but really what they consider ‘good’ ratings is the equivalent of Stranger Things-level within the first month. Despite the show doing well later or having good reviews, Netflix cancels it depending on the first month of ratings.
Bridgerton is not one of these cases, it has always been a famous show and has been on the same level as Stranger Things in terms of ratings. It is also already confirmed with the upcoming seasons, everyone knows that it won’t be canceled. But dividing it in half makes the show more relevant and desirable for the audience.
House of the Dragon comes out once a week. So, for ten weeks it took over in most watched television series, not to mention the weeks before and after its run.
Streaming services like Disney+ and Max are both smart to have series that release episodes weekly. That way they have more talk, more interest. Netflix is slowly getting there and while there’s more wait for the show, in the long run it’s smarter for them to do so.

I think, in some way, Cressida has been jealous of Penelope. I think she has always been able to sense Penelope’s power, and that’s why she always guns for her. She sees her as a “true” threat and rival. In a twisted way it’s kind of flattering as she can see how powerful Penelope really is, before everyone does, and that’s why she has always singled her out to be a bully. Bully’s always find who they think is weak or a threat to their perceived power.

As a long time Polin stan from the books, it's not about the result of the gossip, it's that she deceived people. Pen deserves happiness but she needs to face some kind of ramifications for going behind peoples backs and causing them grief, intentional or no. She's flawed and it is her journey to come into the light as a powerful woman in her own right but that is paved with DRAMA lol
well tbf the rumor about the lord was already spreading bc violet started it, so most of the women of the ton already knew about it when pen put it in lw, and she helped, but it wasn't fully thanks to pen/lw. i agree about marina (which means eloise is right that pen needs to be honest with colin too). as pen says in this trailer, lw is power, but that also means that there's consequences. i like pen, and don't think she needs to stop being lw, but it's reasonable for the people lw has talked about to feel hurt, and pen needs to see that for character development (and drama, as the other comment says lol)

Eloise may be self centered sometimes but right now, she’s actually being a good sister and friend. Penelope does need to tell Colin before their wedding day. You cannot start a life with someone you love on a lie. And I think Eloise just wants both Pen and Colin to be happy together, even though she is still at odds with Pen at the moment.
don't think so, she was the least bit excited with the announcement. Even in the carriage scene with Colin, she was aghast with the idea that Penelope might be going after him. She clearly doesn't think Penelope good enough for her brother.

The most complex season. I love it.
Colin finally loves someone who loves him back, but his hero complex and insecurities prevent him from seeing that someone can love him without him having to be their savior or their "purpose". Colin must learn that he can be loved just for being himself, and that's enough.
Pen faces the same issue; she has low self-esteem and still can't believe someone loves her and won't abandon her. Everyone in her life has left her (Pen's family emotionally abandoned her because they don't care about her in the slightest; Eloise, whom Pen cared deeply for, abandoned her upon learning she was LW, Society has never given her a chance.). So, she struggles to confide in Colin. Pen clings to LW because it's the only thing in her life that hasn't failed her. But she must learn that she's not alone anymore and her future husband is part of her team, and she must trust him.
Eloise needs to mature a lot. She's right to want to tell Colin, but as Pen's best friend for many years, she still doesn't understand Pen. Eloise partly fueled that idea of LW by praising LW's work, and maybe if Eloise had listened to Pen enough, Pen wouldn't feel the need to talk to a piece of paper. Eloise never understood that Pen didn't want to remain a spinster like her; Pen wanted to experience love, get married, and have children.
SPECTACULAR SEASON. Drama situations that make a lot of sense and with which people can identify. Love and friendship.

Nah it was actually very clever. Bridgerton is trending now cause of the trailer and its going to be trending again when part 2 comes out. It gives this season so much longevity in the online conversations. I hate to admit it cause I wish they released the whole thing at once.
2 month of subscription money for them + people have something to look forward to for longer + the show remains in talk for longer
It isn’t ideal but it gets a lot of engagement. It’s super important because it ensures that people keep talking about it and the views are more consistent over time for the sake of the cast and crew
In the book colin was the one who took Penelope's side and stood by her in support. he was the one who broke the news of Penelope being lady whistledown and he was proud admitting it.
But in show he was standing in the crowd still angry with her and only after her speech did he really and finally talk with her with softness in his voice. In whole show he never professed his love and admiration to her properly while Penelope was showing her love and confessing it to him on multiple occasions.
In 2nd season Anthony's possessiveness was top notch and in this i.e. 3rd season it was like only Penelope love colin while colin like a child with crayon was busy drawing pictures snd choosing which he liked the most. It was like the character lacked sincerity. I am sorry if it hurts but then i am just writing what i observed.

This season was supposed to be about Penelope and Colin but felt like their story got rushed and little time dedicated to their love story and love scenes and their story got mixed and meddled with love story of Francesca ,irrelevant story club owner and his wife,Colin mom and love interest, Anthony and Kate moments and Colin brother

1:36 I KNEW IT. Tilley either got engaged to someone or lied to Benedict about being a widow, essentially leading him on. Her character is just used as a plot device to introduce his love interest...
i think it's also more of, they don't want benedict to just have flings, i guess they want him to experience some actual feelings at least a little before they introduce a sophie

Yess. I think he's now realising he wants something of sustenance from his flings. He's always gone from one woman to another for the entertainment of both parties but I think this is finally the point of realising that he too wants to settle down
Spoiler?: I read a rumor on Reddit that she introduces Benedict to the idea of a threesome with another man involved. Which Benedict is not a fan of at all. Probably to show that he is not bisexual, I don’t know. I also don’t know if it’s true but someone claimed it as a possible spoiler.

Penelope made a fortune for herself in a world where women had to rely on men to survive. She hurt people along the way, but also helped a lot of people. (Daphne in S1 with burbrooke, Colin with Marina) and I think the Queen secretly loves LW

In the regency era even just kissing out of wedlock was a scandal, so "swiftly" is a vague way of saying that Colin did things out of order. He should have courted Penelope first, then asked for her hand in marriage, married her and only then he should have done what happened in the carriage.

That didn’t happen with Colin and Penelope. Lord Debling courted Pen but Colin just went straight to the engagement without courting Pen.
What i love about what Colin experiences for the first time in his life, is for years he has had casual sexual relationships with women (his brothel prostitutes, the women he meets on his travels, etc). He had the physical connection with them but not the emotional connection. He even said in his journal he’s amazed he could feel such physical intimacy and feel so distant /lonely.
With Penelope he finally has the physical and the emotional connection and intimacy he has been craving all along. He finally experiences love for the first time…. He knows Pen is his soulmate and the only woman who will bring him true happiness.
He finally found what he was always looking for in his best friend Pen.
This relationship is not rushed at all. Their chemistry and love has been going on for years.
Yeah but Penelope is getting damaged goods. She's pure while Colin has been sleeping around with who knows how many people. She deserves better but then again, the heart wants what it wants

Eloise not knowing about Penelope has been in love with Colin is completely because she is oblivious to everything. Everyone else seemed to know about it except for her. Sure, Pen didn’t tell her but it was still extremely obvious. And Eloise spent the most time with Penelope more than anyone. Even Lord Debling knew of it. And he didn’t even know Pen or Colin that well.
Because everything is about her and what she wants . There’s no way someone who is like a sister to you , is in love with your brother and you have no clue . She paid Pen no mind until she found out she was Lady Whistledown smh

Also, when Eloise found Penelope and Colin talking said, joyfully, that she had found her, Penelope muttered under her breath, “You always do,” annoyed. On top of that, I remember Eloise always making it clear how much Penelope meant to her, always searching her out and choosing her company over everyone else.

I actually really like Lady Featherington. She’s smart, practical, fearless and has had a lot thrown at her so far in this series but you know that she loves her daughters and will do anything to protect them and wants them to do well.
The whole family is also very funny this season. All those one-liners, banter and eye rolls between Lady F and her daughters 😂.
Portia likes to bend the rules and work around the men but she won’t directly challenge the gender norms and sexism. Portia is a hustler but would never dream of her daughter being woman with a career of her own. Pen is more progressive.
No, no, no! Netflix you have changed Francesca's story completely from the book and made Michael into Michaela 😡😡. John dies a few years after their marriage sadly from an aneurysm and his cousin Michael becomes the new Earl of Kilmartin. He fell in love with Francesca at her wedding, but kept it secret. He goes away for 4yrs, returns, Fran has kept the Kilmartin estate in order then she falls for him and they wed. I HATE this stupid change Netflix and Shonda have done.

I have no idea why the plot was changed this way. Actually, I know. I have nothing against LGBT people, but do they really have to be shown in every family in every series? It is known that most families do not have homosexual people... Enough of this, I would say. Michael Sterling changed into Michaela? And I liked the story of Francesca and Michael so much... Now I can only hope that JOHN doesn't die, or that he actually still has a cousin Michael. And why was Benedict's character so destroyed? When the actress playing Michaela was introduced, I thought it was Sophie... She would be perfect for this role. I hope that the scriptwriters will reconsider the matter, looking at the viewers' comments. I have mixed feelings, but I still love this series. :)

I'm so dissappointed with Shodaland. I first really love Bridgerton during Daphne and Anthony seasons. A bit far from the book but very interesting and very romantic (which is the theme for Bridgerton). But thank god Pen and Colin did end up together. But seeing Benedict's storyline and that ending with Michaela instead of Michael really brought me down. Why is everything has to be queer now? There are queer relationship in the show, why has to make the main queer when in the book story they aren't. I really like Fran's storyline in the book because it represent hope, love and moving forward with grief. How she lost hope of having her own family at one point before Michael. But no, Shondaland just want to shove everything down viewers' throat that the show is so "woke." This season isn't so bad, but how Shondaland write Benedict's and Fran's story, well, you lost a viewer (or more) for your next season. I consider this series over with this season's ending. Btw, what happened to Daphne? I understand the actress left the show, but could add it to the script that she stayed away due to pregnancy or something? So weird bringing Kate and Anthony on and off like that like they are nobody. Anthony is the weirdest because he is the head of the family, but they made him seem gone and don't give a damn about his duty that in the book he cared so much. Benedict is said to replace him but in the show I just see Benedict the lover boy. He doesn't even paint anymore while in the book he still does throughout the series.

Honestly, this has been my favorite season so far the only disappointment was there needed to be more Pen and Colin scenes, like it’s their story so why these unnecessary storylines?!

This line is such the trope when a person loved someone who realized that no one loved/sees them for years so she became VERY independent and made a name for herself where it's hard to let their walls break down.

Pen knows how great LW's power has been and if people know, they could take that power and abused it or change LW (one of the reasons, she's hiding it from El). Even she know Colin for years, she's still scared because he is a man/husband in a time where the husband controls everything.
The fact that Penelope was THIS gorgeous the entire time is beyond me!!😍

For the Eloise doubters, I am so glad this trailer helped understand her more. She is protecting her brother as she has every right to. I love her saying “he can’t love you if he doesn’t know you”
Penelope responding “LW is power” makes her come across as selfish, but it is more than that. We see her writing is her livelihood. Her refuge, her form of power since she loses it everyday as herself in the ton. Once Colin got of his jealousy streak in the book, even he understood that.
But Pen you need to tell him. But I really think we are getting the scene from the book.
Eloise whom was completely fine with Lady Whistledown writing about Marina and still admired her and wanting to collab when she thought it was Madame Delacroix. It was only when it was her sneaky butt being saved from the Queen's wrath by Lady Whistledown that she had a problem. I love Eloise but boy does she have a lot of growing up to do. Jess the showrunner confirmed that. Like Nicola, Luke and Jess said the Eloise has to listen before Peneloise can get better. She needs to listen to Penelope, believe her when she says it was out of love and protection and stop being so self-centered not caring about Penelope's difficult situation with her family and place in society. She also has the nerve to think that Penelope doesn't really want to tell Colin. It is definitely not easy. Selfish is someone who doesn't care about anyone, but themselves and that is the biggest NOT TRUE there is about Penelope. She cares so much, too much for Colin and the Bridgertons. She is having a hard time with it. She has every right to have both her love and a career. She deserves happiness. She just doesn't think she is going to get to have both now and so it's so hard for her. But the reveal will be like the book. Which I love so I'm okay with her having the struggle in working up the courage then he finds out.

That us why she kind if warns Madame Delecroix about it. And she was Indifferent to Whistledown in the starting of S2, it was Pen who wanted her to like LW, which is why she wrote similar to what El said, only then her curiosity again got piqued. She gaslit about Theo to El at the wedding( bcz she was mad that El was close to finding her identity when she had long forgotten that and was focusing on women rights and her friendship with Theo), so El makes a rash decision to go to Theo. But why was Queen after LW, because she keeps insulting Queen everytime and even wrote about George's mental condition. I never understood what's her problem with Queen. Then she could have told El about her identity and they could have worked together for solution, but what did she do. She used an information her best friend entrusted her with and spills it to the ton. If El has been a bad friend, so have Pen. They both need to understand each other and apologise to each other, only then they can make up.
