      Q-Link is a false product just like the now defunct power-balance band. They make claims about protecting your bodies natural energy field, those same claims Power Balance were ORDERED to retract by no less than 6 developed countries watchdogs before they were sued into obscurity. Q-Link is no different. No peer-reviewed research, yet they can afford it. They get away with it by publishing misinformation in non-peer reviewed journals just like cigarette companies have done for years to muddy the waters. And they prey on people who don't know any better.
      It's clear Kasey believes it works. But the science says otherwise. "Harmful invisible frequencies" is the same reason people used to wear tin-foil hats. So if you think wearing a tin foil hat is a good idea, sure go ahead and buy a Q-Link. Otherwise stay away from this manipulative company.

    In Davinci to detach the audio, select the clip and check link to unlink it. Then if you separate to stereo you will have the two lanes, set both to mono and you can then mix the audio much more easily as each has their own channel. If you cant be bothered with that I'm currently working on training squirrels to do video editing tasks called Macro Squirrels™, hopefully when i work out hot to stop them running away after each task I will be able to offer them to market.

    You can use both the front shotgun and plug a lav into the mic at the same time with the Deity. I'm pretty sure Jeven Dovey said something like that in his video. That way you could have good audio for you but also catch the stuff people say as they walk by. But I suppose you could do the same with the Rode and a splitter cable. Also does the dead cat from the Rode fit the Deity?

The only time you would have separate left and right channel is when you have both Mics activated Or when you have a mic plugged into the external Jack?

    Anyone with a cable/adapter solution for use together with smartphones ? I know that "TRS to TRRS" adapters exists, but I am told that these won't work, since smartphones only use a mono microphone signal. What is necessary is some kind of "audio interface" built into an adapter, that samples the analog stereo signal and transfers it to the smartphone through USB/lightning. Kan anyone think of such a solution ?

  • @baza210
    @baza210 4 роки тому +1

    Kasey you should look into how shotgun mics work, it would help you to understand the performance differences you might encounter. Basically the slits on the side are where the background sound comes in, which then gets cancelled out from the subject's sound coming in the front. The distance from each slit to the end of the shotgun mic (where the capsule is) corresponds to a frequency that gets cut out, so the longer the shotgun mic the more effective it is at cancelling out frequencies. Low frequency things like truck engines have wavelengths way too long to be cut by the shotgun mic's interference tube, so they won't be much help.

    • @cameraconspiracies
      @cameraconspiracies  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing. I was mainly interested because the wind muff didn't seem to help very much, and I was wondering if those slits were exposed, but even when they were fully covered I got wind noise.

    • @baza210
      @baza210 4 роки тому +1

      @@cameraconspiracies Well the problem with wind-noise on a shotgun mic is that even if you cover up the mic capsule itself with a windshield, any other exposed part of the mic housing - or possibly even the mount and the camera itself - can conduct the low frequency rumble through to the capsule and get picked up. I believe that is part of the reason there are "blimp" style shotgun mic covers.

    Sounds similar to the Sairen T-Mic Vlog Microphone. The back sounds better than the front when switched to dual mode. But, when just only on front mode, it sounds louder and better. I'll be doing my own tests with the Deity because I bough one, and Sairen sent me their "version 2 firmware" of the T-Mic. We'll see how it goes when I get the Deity D4 Duo.
    Hey, maybe have it on dual mode but flip the mic backward. That way, when you're recording your face, the back mic is being used and it would sound better. And, when flipped to the opposite side, the front mic will be closer to your face and sound louder. :)

    AV Lifesavers has a (relatively) tiny passive XLR mic mixer that I think would be great IF there was a mini-plug only version with NO XLR inputs. I messaged him about this. It would let you keep your lav mic and mix a forward-facing cardioid mic without needing power (and with level knobs to fade one or the other mic out with just your thumb).
