For the original version of Kurenai, the best one is from The Last Live 1997 IMO. And this one from Nemophila is the best cover of Kurenai I’ve ever heard!! “Rusty Nail” is another great cover by them!!

This is the normal opening for Kurenai, just Hide and Toshi. Mayu does not speak English. Saki taught her the lyrics and explained them. Murata Tamu auditioned for Yoshiki for his Lady X Japan project. This is the song she chose to play for the original composer and drummer! Surprise, Surprise he was stunned!! He asked her what was her highest BPM, answer 200 BPM!! Again stunned, said he only ever got to 160 BPM. Apparently the project never went anywhere as I have not found any videos of a Lady X Japan. I'm sure someone has probably brought this up, but there's a great cover of "Kurenai" by Show-Ya featuring Saki and Hazuki that's also killer. Hazuki is a real technician on guitar. She does some beautiful instrumental guitar work on her Ibanez demo videos for her signature model guitar, very Steve Vai-ish. Fun Fact: Hazuki is also a very talented graphic artist.
Saki pulled out her Mary's Blood "Killer" six string for this one. Don't see her using that guitar with Nemophila very much. She's normally on a 7 string. I love Tamu basically collapsing on her drum kit at the end. You can see her fighting through the burn in the later part of the song.
That finger picking is also present on the best version of Kurenai by X Japan in the Last Live, it was the last performance by hide(their guitarist) with X Japan.

This is my favorite Nemophila cover. Probably because its paying homage to the band that is like a ghost in the back ground for every Japanese band today. X-Japans influence is like something spiritual and will be around for a long time still. Muratatam's own UA-cam channel has a heap of her excellent drum cams plus there is also the X-Japan cover series by Daisuke Kurosawa that Tamu played on. Especially during a full concert. She's a true beast in the most positive sense. And Hazuki's guitar playing at the beginning gives me goosebumps every time, as does X-Japan's 'The Last Live' version. My answer to this hypothetical would be to lock the questioner in their own hypothetical cell, preferably after a hypothetical punch to their nose. Then go listen to more Nemophila *AND* X Japan.
Great reaction of a great cover. I know I pestered you to do this one and the 2 Maximum the Hormone covers quite a bit. Sorry for that but 5his and the MTH ones are just that good. In all 3 videos it just seeps out of the performance and screen how much they love playing the covers. Of the 2 Maximum the Hormone songs I would do Zetsubou Billy 1st and Shimi 2nd. Unfortunately it will be harder to find originals of those songs on UA-cam. I know of no Shimi ones on here. Will go look and post links I can find. Zetsubou Billy: ua-cam.com/video/pg4cKF_p55c/v-deo.html. This was an ending song to the Anime Death Note. In the show a teen gets a book that he can write the name of a person and they will then die. Bonus Tamu singing some lead is awesome. Could not find Shimi anywhere but it is a certified monster of a song.
The violin and piano was not part of the original song, it was something they added much later. The version from The Last Live is a better representation of X Japan and the original song than the version you did unfortunately.

The reason for their sad faces in the beginning is that they are paying respects for the X-Japan members who have passed away.
Even Tamu's collapse at the end was an ode to Yoshiki, the GOD of Japanese rock.
