Tony Robbins One-On-One Coaching Session

  • Tony Robbins has defined what it means to be a "performance coach" for the last four decades.
People like the billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones pay $1 million annually for personal coaching, thousands of fans pay $650-$3,000 to participate in intense events like "Unleash the Power Within," and millions around the world have bought his books and tapes.
Last September, the eight winners of Shopify's Build a Bigger Business competition were flown to Robbins' Fiji resort Namale for both group and private coaching sessions with him. We had a chance to observe his roughly 30-minute one-on-one sessions with the winners, including the entrepreneur he personally selected from entrants, Lively founder Michelle Cordeiro Grant.
The sessions offered a rare look at how Robbins is quickly able to assess a person's pain points, both personal and professional, and leave them with insights both practical and powerful.

Every time I hear this guy the next couple of days run smoothly, you don't really have to buy 'Tony's Tapes' because if you listen carefully he's obviously such a nice guy he gives away all his secrets for free, while [whilst] he's obviously not the messiah he's certainly the next best thing.

I first heard Anthony Robbins's voice on an in-flight radio on a flight from London to New York in 1987. His voice is unforgettable. I continue to learn lots from him. Many thanks, Anthony. Patrick N.

I love this guy, of course he makes money out of it but because it is his talent to make people driven and make them more passionate about what they do or want to be doing and actually get them into a better position to chase their dreams.
Amazing video I really like the way he treats people and seed in their minds that they are bigger than they think and act.

Yeah-that comment from Tony near the end - that is exactly the reason why no beginner coach can just "copy" him - thats not how things work. When he says something that "seems" to be a guess, its not a guess, because he has been doing it for so long and worked with so many people - it would have a to be a freak coincidence for him to meet someone with a compeltely different pattern of problems/worries/blocks. But if a new coach tries to copy this and just goes "well, you have this and this, you do this and this" after an hour of coaching... it would be a guess. In Tony´s case, its not (most likely :D who knows :D ). That is one of the main problems people have when "stuyding" too much, instead of doing... you can study experience, but it wont give you experience - just knowledge about experience. Those are two very different things.

Tony often conflates Analytical Psychology (what Jung did) with modern Experimental Psychology. Take everything Robbins says with a grain of salt. He seems to have a good heart, but his mind is all over the place and he often spews pseudoscience like fact. I honestly think he might have a god-complex or narcissistic personality disorder - or at least seems to show some of the traits.

here's a different take. regardless of what Tony is selling or not, it seems to me that many people who are in his presence experience some sort of profound inspiration. does it last after the encounters, seminars, and tapes have ended? maybe? maybe not. i can't say personally.
but it does seem that Tony's energy is a large part of what he's selling and like it or hate it, it isn't nothing.
there is probably a fraction of people who take that energy and end up changing their lives for the better. it may be true that most don't. were they ripped off? i don't know. if they thought this guy was going to give them all the answers to life or live their lives for them, then they were fools to part with their money.
however, for those few who ended up unlocking something inside after Tony, perhaps this is justification enough for what he does. it seems those individuals needed something like him to be the inspiration he claims to be.
personally, i'd be 100% fine with him if he's honest and says something like this
"I'm going to give you 100% of my time and energy during this seminar/retreat/one-on-one etc.... and will give you all the advice you need to succeed. however, what you do with it is on you. i can't make you successful, only you can do this, but I can point you in the right direction. - some of you will make the breakthrough you've been looking for, MANY OF YOU WON'T. i'm simply being transparent. - now, if you think this is still worth it, then swipe your credit card right here."

I think the title of the video is a bit of a misnomer. This isn't a one on one coaching session, this is a video about one on one coaching sessions that actually shows 5 seconds of a coaching session. If I were watching a real coaching session, I would hope to see the other person talking more than him.

    • @judichristopher4604

There are different kinds of coaching... Today "Life Coaching" is about the person that come to a coach and the coach ASK all these questions, making the person answer it themselves... which is fine up to a point... I wast taught how to coach, like what Tony R. does, he does ask questions, which is great, but he also shares his life long experiences to TEACH the person that came to him for help.
I have a problem with the NEW way of Life Coach where the coach just ask questions, and doesn't seem to give any advice at all... I like this old way of (both) Asking and Giving advice.

Too many times the initial contact with someone is the test, and, more importantly, the turnover rate with respect to corporate corruption in terms of profit is the catalyst, and we forget. Being successful in business is a burden. It is a skill after all. There is nothing wrong with becoming and being great as we were meant to be. Your test is your limit as we all share the burdens of carrying, respectively. Choose wisely. Remember. You might be the best.

He is helpful to people that feel they need his help. And that's OK. It's the same with other iterations of self-help, religions like Scientology or Christianism. Whatever works. Then, there are people out there than don't need this kind of encouragement and validation. They are born with built-in confidence and clarity. For them, Robbins' routines sound just obvious and unnecessary.

Touch is a common part of conversational hypnosis which Tony Robbins knows well having studied and built his career on the work of Dr. Milton Erickson. Awkward touch jars people out of their comfort zone and makes them more open to receive new information by taking them out of their repetitive, auto-pilot patterns.
