Spectacular Early Season Kiteboarding in Hood River | Insane Superloops and Tricks

Join us as we kick off the kiteboarding season with some epic sessions in Hood River, Oregon! With iffy forecasts at our home spot in Squamish, we headed south to maximize our kiting days.
Upon arriving in Hood River, we reunited with our Airush buddy, Chris. Armed with our 10m kites, we hit the waters at Lyle, Washington, and discovered just how amazing this spot is. Chris pulled off a massive loop that I captured in stunning slow motion with my GoPro-don't miss it!
The next day, the excitement continued as we encountered the rare "boosting cloud" phenomenon. Watch Chris's expert analysis of this unique weather pattern. Our friend Mel and his adorable dog Oli joined the fun, with Mel throwing down huge tricks like backroll kiteloops and kiteloop boardoffs. Local North team rider Ben Lovelady also joined, adding some impressive boogie and late backrolls to the mix.
One windy day, Ben was kiting solo, performing incredible late backrolls and superloops with short lines to get the kite lower and achieve extreme megaloops. I couldn't resist filming him during my lunch break-check out the jaw-dropping footage!
Despite the early season and unpredictable weather, Hood River and Lyle delivered consistent wind and unforgettable sessions. We had an absolute blast with Chris, Mel, Ben, and Oli.
