Yeah man,...I remember,...think was S.C.R...but the flats they were spinning tunes in got spun too many times so they were always changing name and especially locations....lols.
mental. I just recognized her voice from Massive Attack - Protection album... she did tracks -three and -sly. When someone said: what was the first jungle tune... I tried to figure it out, someone said randall coined "jungle" live on the radio in 1989, and they needed a name for 1993 breakbeat records which had completely crazy drum machine work on them, so they called it jungle, and previous to that there was a gradual evolution of breakbeat records with millions of records like the helicopter tune from 1992-1993 which already had fast beats, big bass and some crazy drum machine work on them. I only was aware of it when radio 1 did their first live jungle sets in 1994, prior to which it was probably all the rage on kiss FM previously which was out of my FM reception:)
I first heard this one night on a youth work training weekend in Sheffield, UK December 1991. I spent the evening listening to pirate station Fantasy FM and recording as much on tape as possible with my little stereo boombox radio cassette. Terrible audio quality but they played some really cutting edge dance music. Long time ago. 😢
Similar to you Jared, I also first heard it in 1991, but on Nottingham's Rave FM. I only discovered what it was called yesterday after spending years wondering who sung it.
Fantasy fm..wow, I've not heard anyone else mention that station in such a long time, previously Hardcore fm I believe..accidentally tuning in from my bedroom I think Easy D and MC Rush or Dextrous were on, you could hear the guys in the background chatting away having a laugh and I became addicted to the sounds I was hearing! Then began going to a club called the Palais on London rd in Sheffield early breakbeat hardcore Jungle techno, this was an amazing time in my life and thankyou for the reminder..still gets it's hook in me, Peace Love and Unity.
I really like this version it has a creepy dark Brazilian vibe to it I dont know what lanuage shes speaking it sounds brazillian but to me Brazilian sound like spanish with a french accent but yhea the first version I ever herd was the L.A style's "I'm raving/o si ne ne"
BTW.....nuva few rip's sadly i forgot but was with us ev weekend rip....Gav Culf, Gav Thomson,..Rich Webster,...(mooncat),..Keeley Gordon,..Henderson...nuff luv ❤️ miss yas all..Bebs
