In the coming struggle, what will happen or how should we handle enemies like those in small hats and others who will try to destroy us by attacking our homesteads
Hello Sir, Just a friendly advisement from a mechanic best secret kept by the parts stores is getting silicone wipers they last for years rather than months and they are superior to traditional blades.
I found your channel a month after my home flooded because of a supply line that popped off under the kitchen sink. You gave me a label, Professional Homeowner, that I can hold onto when things get tough! You've inspired a 26-year-old Midwest (Chicago) man!
You may want to start oil changes every 5000 to 6000 mi, ford's had alot of problems with their variable valve timing systems especially the cam phasers. They have extensive very small passages for the oil pressure to adjust valve timing, easily clogged by the smallest amount of sludge buildup. Also those new 7.3L engines have been known for camshafts delaminating, food for thought. Thanks for your videos as always be blessed.
I love how many unique and useful tools you have, but when it comes to a oil catch pan you have the bare minimum. I think we all have that one tool that's just enough.
Power went out here in Pierce County last night due to wind. Got to light up the old kerosene lantern from the 70's that lit my parents' living room when I was a kid.
Minor suggestion. When you pull the wiper blades off put the wiper arm back down against the glass. They are spring loaded and if you leave them up there is a possibility they can slam into the windshield and crack it. Especially if you are cleaning the windshield. It's really easy to bump the arm and make it slam down.
My employee did that and cracked a brand new Audi's windshield. I believe it was a $1,200 mistake because, of course, it was a special type of windshield.
If all you can find is +32 degree washer fluid, you can use 1 cup per gallon of 90% or higher rubbing alcohol. The alcohol keeps it from freezing and that little amount won't affect the paint.
We been mostly ready for a bit now. I’m officially a proho’s man servant as of a few months ago. I’m loving the responsibility, the not having to leave home, the ability to use the owners stuff to an extent and the endless change in jobs. Always keeping me on my toes and testing my problem solving skills. I think this is what I was bread for honestly. North coast man loves your videos 🤙
I would also check the battery fluid level since you had the corrosion on the terminal. Could be a little low and the top of the lead plates will be showing. Only takes a few minutes. Hope this helps. Good luck with the storm!
Yup, need 2 tools to do it "right", or just distilled water to get you going. You should first use a tester to be sure there is enough acid the water won't freeze. Second, use a battery filling jug if you have an old type battery. If you use AGM, which are mostly decent (i would avoid optima and clones tho), oversize it a bit to counter for the lack of maint. Either way best to just bite the bullet and buy a quality battery when it's time. I always measure my battery box/area to fit the largest I can, but be aware of where the posts are, polarity, height, etc.
Those wiper blades are great! They are impregnated with rain-x. The instructions on the package tell you to run them dry for a bit, and then apply the washer fluid to activate the rain-x... Its crazy I know, but they are the only wiper blades that have an installation instruction! Stay safe!
When I was a teen and was introduced to a character like mr Phillips, I would do what I could to drop everything I was doing just to see if there was a way I could help him in some way, just to learn. I always walked away a better person for it.
Worked in the parts industry for 8 years, couple of pro-tips incoming. NEVER, leave the wiper arms up without blades on them, bump one of those and they slap down on the space formerly inhabited by a windshield. AMSOIL glass cleaner is tops, but try newspaper instead of the blue towels for a really nice final clean. Great video as always!
Loved the story of that old timer with the chains. So strange that the most random encounters can impact us for the rest of our lives. Although I certainly wouldn't forget it if I witnessed something like that! They don't make 'em like they used to!
Marl couldn’t put the chains down. In those extreme temperatures, 20 below, his fingers were stuck to those chains like a tongue on a frozen pump handle.
Not intended as criticism, I love videos like this. (We are like minded about preparing for inclement weather. ) But you can carefully fill the oil filter before putting it on to eliminate any potential issues. Also, wipe a little oil on the gasket before tightening. Great video, thanks.
Agreed. I feel better about recently replacing my 20+ year old tool truck floor jack with a HF Daytona. If it’s good enough for the Proho, it’s good enough for me.
Wranglerstar I bought the Ballistol you always say to get and you can use that to clean your battery terminal with that and it will help prevent the build up on terminals and next time try the Bosch icon wipers I v had good luck with them
One man I would love to spend a day with before I die. So many of your lessons and tips have stuck with me and helped to mold my character over the years. Everything has a standard procedure.
I personally use Bosch wiper blades. Very soft rubber that doesn’t streak. I replace them once year even though it’s not needed because there is not much that brings me as much joy as brand new wiper blades. It’s like having a new truck.
You should try that RainX windshield washer fluid. It's a game changer. I can't imagine using anything else now. It's like the rain is scared to stick to the window when you're driving.
we've got a mess coming tomorrow... wind and rain though, not much snow (eastern Canada)... we're getting similar winds to hurricane dorian which messed up the island I live on pretty bad. We spent the day getting everything battened down and all the animals water tanks topped off. double checked the generator. We're pretty well set for the storm.
Three things…… A “full service” station….. Haven’t seen one of those in ages…… Second, my thought on the skid steer also….. I was like…”He isn’t going to back that inside?” And third…. I’m just jealous….. such a beautiful area….. You’re blessed for sure!!
You did a great job with the tire chains. In the spring it’s time for a set of truck batteries around 4 years it’s time to change them it’s best to do it on your own terms why go somewhere and it doesn’t start. This way you can pick your own brand like 1000 cold cranking amps. Thank You
Wish those Silver Sharpie didn't wipe off so easy with even ipa. I had to start using the OIL paint pens. theyre the only one I can truly consider permanent. Honorable mention to industrial high heat sharpies for when Black is more appropriate.
After working at Advance Auto Parts for 8 years, I found my favorite blades to be Trico Onyx or their Ultra line which are made in USA. But man are they pricey!
Love your channel. I leave my skid steer bucket outside so snow doesn't melt and then freeze in the bottom. Just what I've found to be helpful in central Nebraska
As a east TN man I don’t have a ton of experience with snow but I would think a good RainX job would be a great “snow prep” for a truck. Though that may only be useful for our slushy/freezing snow.
Proho, I would not leave the wiper arm in the extended position without a wiper blade on it. I have seen the arms fall down onto the glass breaking it. Great content, Cody! Thanks for the info.
Quick tip for changing wiper blades. Try not to leave up the wiper arms up without the blades on because they act as a hammer and can crack your windshield if you bump them or if for some reason they decide to fall. You can also use a mousepad, shop rag, or other guard to keep them from scratching the window. While they are down.
We bought a big green drain pan from napa i think its like 15qt or something for our old 7.3 diesel its well worth the 30 bucks or so. Drain all the oil at once and no chance of it spilling from over flowing. Love the videos.
I’ve never needed chains for roads on my f250 4x4, but I have them for the worst case scenarios. Glad to see you put them on the front wheels like a competent 4-wheel drive owner
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; snowstorms are no exception. Great video as always. Also, if you're cleaning battery terminals, wear eye protection. I recently got some of that gunk in my eye and you won't forget it!
There are chains u can put on without having to jack up the truck or drive on to, which are good to have if u are stuck unexpectedly….and chains on all 4 or the rear tires.

Not to tell you what to do but you can spray that battery cleaner on the concrete and it will foam the same as if there was acid there. You said it, baking soda and warm water seems to work the best and it's cheap and it's great for all sorts of stuff

So how much snow did you end up with?
Hello Sir, Just a friendly advisement from a mechanic best secret kept by the parts stores is getting silicone wipers they last for years rather than months and they are superior to traditional blades.
K&N filter for your truck.
I found your channel a month after my home flooded because of a supply line that popped off under the kitchen sink. You gave me a label, Professional Homeowner, that I can hold onto when things get tough! You've inspired a 26-year-old Midwest (Chicago) man!
Whenever I hear it I think professional hoe..... but that's just me.
Right On 🤙🏻💯😎
Are you the product of a single mother
I’m in Chicago too!! Professional God Fearing American! I don’t own a home but I prepare. Thank you WranglerStar!
No, I was not born illegitimate,

More of these videos are needed. I remember these types of videos of you working in your former wood shop.
Don't forget to apply Rain-x to the windshield after you clean it! Game changer on visibility when raining and snowing
Nu finish is another one, isopropyl clean off first then wipe on, haze, wipe off
Cody,
Now I've seen it all! You still have full service at the gas station!

@@unaffiliated_x9279 of course it never happens on a junk Cavalier. Only on something that stings the wallet.
Yup, I did exactly that on my mom's car. I'm super paranoid when changing wipers now.
Me as well, expensive lesson
If all you can find is +32 degree washer fluid, you can use 1 cup per gallon of 90% or higher rubbing alcohol. The alcohol keeps it from freezing and that little amount won't affect the paint.
I never would have thought to write my oil change info right there. What a pro tip!

Love that old creeper cody 12:40 @WranglerStar
My favorite time of the year is here where we can all spend the morning together for snowstreams.
I would also check the battery fluid level since you had the corrosion on the terminal. Could be a little low and the top of the lead plates will be showing. Only takes a few minutes. Hope this helps. Good luck with the storm!

I like the felt washers that fit on battery terminals,
Helps a lot😊
Most batteries these days you can't check fluid level on
Don't rinse the corrosion off into the engine bay...EVERYTHING it touches will rust / rot in short order.
@@paladinjmeNeutralize it with Coke and rinse immediately with copious amounts of H2O, you’ll be fine. 👍🏻
Waiting for the storm here in Quebec as well, all prepped and ready, thanks for the video Cody!
As a Alabama man I look forward to the live blizzard snow stream as the snow is a rarely seen by me snow

@mikebolton3816 I was born early 80's so I don't remember 79, I do remember 93!

Marl couldn’t put the chains down.

Bosch Icons are my favorite wiper blades here in Wisconsin. Worth the cost.

In the winter, you can mix the washer fluid with rubbing alcohol. It helps with defrosting the windshield.
Wow, good video!
Put carabiner hooks in the end of the loose chain, better than zip ties.👍
Waiting on blizzard conditions here near Stevens Pass also. Enjoy the snow but the wind is scary being amongst the trees. Take care.
"Be Prepared".....that's a good motto to go by....nice work. I have an F250 and also opted for the gas engine....I like it.

Man servant, that guy must be proud. Looks great on a resume I’m sure.
Can’t wait to see how the warm the tent is and the snow build up
Three years ago up on Snoqualmie they had an Avalanche. I put chains on the rear of my Suburban, having a flloor jack/piece of plywood made job easier
Holy cow! This midwest city proho here had 4-8 inches of snow and I really predicted at least 5 inches. Our sidewalks aren't even getting covered.
well it seems just now at about 1:49 we're gettin maybe a quarter/half inch
Proho,
I would not leave the wiper arm in the extended position without a wiper blade on it. I have seen the arms fall down onto the glass breaking it. Great content, Cody! Thanks for the info.
I carry a spray bottle with windshield washer fluid and a squeegee for side windows and side mirrors .
God bless you Wranglestar, a man can dream but also live that life through you brother ;-)
Quick tip for changing wiper blades. Thank you very much for what you show us.
Very much like how you prep for things like this. Stay safe and stay warm!
Rainx suv and truck wipers are the best. This is coming from someone who has tried multiple others on their f150 and I’m in the automotive field
Now this the stuff I really like to see!! Stay safe brother!
I’ve never needed chains for roads on my f250 4x4, but I have them for the worst case scenarios. Glad to see you put them on the front wheels like a competent 4-wheel drive owner
Many 4x4's are not suitable for front tire chains, which is a shame.
This might have been your best video. Very relaxing.
Nice man at the gas station i forgot they do it for you in Oregon.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; snowstorms are no exception. Great video as always. Also, if you're cleaning battery terminals, wear eye protection. I recently got some of that gunk in my eye and you won't forget it!
Soft hands
There are chains u can put on without having to jack up the truck or drive on to, which are good to have if u are stuck unexpectedly….and chains on all 4 or the rear tires.
Some of those 7.3's are starting to have lifter and cam problems...dont skimp on oil changes. For what it's worth. Nice trucks all the same. I opted for the 6.2
They using the same cams and lifters as ram then?
The tire chain on the drivers side is correct the passenger side is upside down. When installing chains like those you want the end of the cross links to have the hook end facing up so the sharp end of the hook is not against the sidewall of your tire so it dont chew up the sidewalls. I was taught that by an old school truck driver. It's a good practice tires aren't cheap.
Love that machine!
Latitude wipers are the best IMO. I've used them alot.
Nice job with that drain pan.
Not to tell you what to do but you can spray that battery cleaner on the concrete and it will foam the same as if there was acid there. You said it, baking soda and warm water seems to work the best and it's cheap and it's great for all sorts of stuff
I can only imagine the joy you get from using that creeper to this day
if you wanna get those cams as tight as possible with a great tool I use, is a bud-t-bar. It's a godsend to be honest. Also, RainX makes an anti icing wiper blade that I love.
Absolutely the best channel on UA-cam. Thank you Cody.
This was a great video! As always great content. GOD BLESS!!
For battery post anti-corrosion I use a copper anti-seize called Jet-Lube SS30, it lists usage as an electrical contact anti-corrosion on its product sheet. SS-30 is a bit thicker/waxier than some more light-grease consistency anti-seize products as the base is a clay/petroleum mix. I used to have issues with one GMC where I had to clean the battery posts every 18 months or it wouldn't start, once I used that it never happened again for the remaining decade that I had it. I also use it on the hub-centric part of my wheels, after having had the joy of a forged aluminum wheel not wanting to come off my Dodge Power Wagon (just a very light surface coat, you don't want surplus amounts wandering over to your brakes).
Would the 550 work it seems to be cheaper from what I was able to find
Do you coat the post before attaching the terminal? Everything I’ve used in the past, I’ve been advised to connect first then coat.
( of course I’ll go look at the sheet and research around online but I prefer talking with experienced humans before resorting to the great and powerful googlemachine)
You look like the dad from the original Conan the Barbarian movie, love your stuff
Instead of tying the end up on tire chains I loop the tail of the chain through the hook before you latch it back to itself, faster and easier.
its that time of the year
BOSCH wipers all the way. I use to uses Trico or whatever Napa had on sale. Then Advanced Auto had Bosch on sale. I didn't care because it was on a company truck. Bosch is all I will buy now!
I worked at Les Schwab 20 some years ago. we used hot black coffee for battery corrosion.
