Went there for a field trip two years ago. When we went over the memorial bridge, we all got up to look down at the dam. We got yelled at, but I still remember the beauty of the view. No regrets. :]

The filmmaker mentioned that he felt that the spillway setup was a big waste of money. In 1995 I parked the same place he did and pretty much did all the same things while there but at that time the spillway gates were all the way up and water was pouring over the top and into the spillway tunnel with a significant roar.
Tell ya right now, was just there at hoover dam a few days ago,, and that new Bridge is a total traffic saver, I remember when before it was built traffic going over the dam was so terrible that it wasn't almost worth it actually going there to visit it....
It's to power up my house and for me to use the computer in vegas. Nevada Arizona and 10 city's in cali including Los Angeles and it overflowed once cause of all the ice melting. I just went and saw it for the first time 4 days ago it's a very beautiful scenery.
re the video comment "how high the water used to be" made a few times. I do believe that's actually just a different type of rock, as seen in the grand canyon's multiple layers (sandstone, limestone, shale etc)
No it isn't a different type of rock. That white band is like a bathtub ring. That ring is how high the water was in the past. There is a HUGE amount of evaporation in that part of the West. The water has bleached all the minerals out of the rock.

I was at the Hoover dam in August 2009 and the Hoover dam bypass bridge was half complete when I was at the Hoover dam.
