I've had the RIG 800LX when it was still under Plantronics. I'm still using it up to this day. amazing headset. I can't recommend it enough. It's been about 4 years now. Oh and the 4 year old 800LX also works on my series X.
As a owner of the step down from this (The Rig 700Pro HX for about 100$) It looks to be almost identical in design and function, besides the mic- the drivers even seem to be identical. After just 1 year of ownership, range has noticeably decreased- and was never anywhere near as good as the 800 is (according to the review) It's more like the 20~30ft claim on the box, and will frequently disconnect if I go into another room with any wall in the way. It's probably working at 90% its original range. I will praise however, no matter how hard I shake my head or run around the room- audio is never scuffed, dropped or pops. I would also like to mention that EVERY TIME you do anything with the power or connect/disconnect the headset has a built in lady who tells you that it happens every time- and its one of the most annoying features I've ever met in the maybe 5~ headsets I've owned over the years- goddamn is it annoying to drop audio for half a second and listen to this lady tell you "HEADSET NOT CONNECTED" then "HEADSET CONNECTED" this has actually caused me to rage a few times, since it happens every time I leave to go to the bathroom or to the sink in the room over from me, infuriating, much would rather it say nothing or just play a varied soft sound fx. The sound wheel (identical design) is horribly unresponsive, skipping across numbers, sometimes not responding at all until multiple spins, likewise the power button has begun to present unresponsiveness as well- sometimes requiring to be held down multiple times to finally get it to turn on/off although this happens fairly rarely. The wheel is defective with every use- and I keep my hands as clean as possible. Audio quality is noticeably worse than my last pair of headphones (Roccat Khans) which were wired, however it's been so long since my Khans weren't broken (I was headbanging and standing away from the pc a bit and headbanged the usb along with the slot apart) They are heavier than the Khans, and the Mic quality is absolutely terrible in comparison, the khans could be worn all day with no fatigue, these will begin presenting fatigue (with glasses) after an hour or few. Needing a break after use. The Battery is pretty annoying, 12 hours is already pushing the lower end of battery life imo and I've frequently run into problems having to charge it after an extended 6~ hour session of gaming or music. It hasn't seemed to lost lifetime though, however the biggest problem with the battery is the charging- the micro-usb slot has lost its strength to hold the plug-in... meaning you really have to baby it to keep it plugged in, and make sure it doesn't get shaken or moved around afterwards, its pretty damn annoying. I've got some Audeze Maxwells for my birthday which are on their way, so hopefully they are a large step up.
the plasstic part of the frame where headband trapped was broken, both side. there is something wrong with the design. and the worst part is, there is no replacement i can find to replace them, and there isnt a after market product to deal with this issue. I cant thing of any reason why they dont just use metal for the whole frame
Ok so I purchased this for my son and asked the clerk at gamestop i needed a wireless headset for my sons Nintendo switch I purchased the rig 700 pro hx and its not working I noticed on the box it clearly says designed for Xbox am I doing something wrong or its not going to work
Usually it has to say switch on the box but I notice there's PlayStation versions that also work on the switch. I haven't tested this one on the switch but I'd say it won't work with this version.
Would not recommend. I have gone through two RIG 500 Pro's for XBox. The microphone being removable had a very weak and unprotected plug in/pivot point. Absolute garbage rendering the headset useless. The mount for the microphone plug in is in its own small flimsy peice of plastic.

I had that for over 3 years and recently the mic stopped working, now I gotta decide if I want a new rig headset or get the 800lx's again 😭
