Excellent video! When the oil filter is unscrewed, oil will drain out of the filter housing down into the sump so don't replace the sump plug till after the new filter is fitted. Also, I recommend getting the top of a soap dispenser, pushing a bit of pipe onto the pickup tube and it using to suck the small pool of oil out of the filter housing when the filter is removed. Well done on using Mann filters, excellent quality brand.
Thank you! I’ve stopped bothering as much with removing every bit of oil because it’s actually nothing compared to what is left in the engine. If you had the sump removed you’d probably find another half litre of oil would drain out overnight.
I couldn’t get it off at all, kept trying and trying. My friend walked over and got it off straight away! It seems the more you try the harder it gets. I hope you got sorted!
What about 2nd fuel filter that is located under the fuel tank, in front of right back wheel? The Volkswagen says it should be replaced every 3rd service, so just want to hear your experience with that? Thanks! PS. Very useful video 👍🏼
Thanks Rhys, I have always got away without priming, cycling the ignition a few times works as long as the car has a pre-delivery pump in the fuel tank.
I have just brought a Vw polo 1.2 tdi 2012 ,would this have a dual mass fly wheel ? As there’s a knocking noise on the engine ,but when you press the clutch it stops ,
I have the same car. Did u prime the fuel filter or something before starting it? Seen videos where people have to prime the pump and looks complicated
thanks for the video, very informative. are you sure it's actually 4.3L of oil, because i have read that it's 2.8L but that might be for gasoline engines.
I have the same car , i drive 20000 between service interval , and mine consumes about a half liter of oil on this kilometers , this shoud be pretty normal .
Thank you so much, after 10 years and 310k miles of ownership I will service my 1.2 TDI BlueMotion for the first time.
I have started servicing my car for the first time and your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you so much.
I’m very glad to help and well done for doing it 👍

@@IAMASPANNER perhaps do the oil change just after the engine has been running for a bit, so that the oil flows better
Great video, just about to service a vw
polo (first time), so you’ve saved me a lot of time. 👍🏻
Thanks Jason, glad to help!
Clock work service , note as you did ensure the large oil seal is sat in the 3 grove down from the top and Not the top grove.
Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble getting the fuel filter hoses off 🤣
After changing my air filter my engine light is blinking.. what to do.??
Thanks for the video. Only there is one more fuelfilter under the car
what was that connector on the fuel filter? my one has a similar and i literally cant get it off
I couldn’t get it off at all, kept trying and trying. My friend walked over and got it off straight away! It seems the more you try the harder it gets. I hope you got sorted!
You gotta push it like plugging it in then the clips will activate so u can press them and pull it out

Hi Bozidar, I wasn’t aware of a second fuel filter? This is the same location as all the fuel filters I’ve done on VW diesels so far.
Maybe the filter location was underneath the fuel tank for the previous gen polo (mk4)..
Saw some video..check...
There is 2 one under the tank infront of osr wheel 🤣
Great vid, do you have to prime the fuel filter or can you just start the car up? Cheers
Thanks Rhys, I have always got away without priming, cycling the ignition a few times works as long as the car has a pre-delivery pump in the fuel tank.
Thank you, I needed this.😊
For the cabin filter, the air flow is from the passenger side (left) to the driver side (right)..rit..?
Kindly check if the installation was correct..
Away from the motor and towards the matrix so that does sound correct.
How do you change the 2nd fuel filter ?
What 2nd fuel filter?
@@IAMASPANNERunder passenger side 🫠😂

It will have a dual mass flywheel, yes.
Does the car have to be level when you drain the engine oil or can it be on it side because I only have 1 jack ?
It doesn’t need to be level, you’ll just need it to be level when checking the level of the oil afterwards.
Engine cover is without bolts?
Yes indeed
Yes! 👍
Is it normal for that engine to smoke coming out from oil deep stick ?
A little bit yes, there’s always some vapour inside the engine when running.
I have the same car. Did u prime the fuel filter or something before starting it? Seen videos where people have to prime the pump and looks complicated
Yes you have. This guy did not prime it because he is doing things wrong and can damage the filter easily.
@@ZoubeirsWorldwhat does „Prime the filter“ mein? Sorry im from germany
Have you changed the spark plugs ?
It’s a diesel, it doesn’t have spark plugs.
@@IAMASPANNER ok how about glow plugs ?
@@yasintube.j no, I was just doing this service for a friend, sorry.
I was thinking of buying one of these Polo diesels 2013 do you think they are good cars ?
For the most part I don’t think they’re bad at all.
Mi mujer tiene 1 con 12 años y 150.000 km , funciona muy bien.
Evidentemente no es un coche para correr mucho, pero consume muy poco.😊
Awsome vid , very helpful , big thanx 😁
Glad to help!

Diesel engines do usually take more than petrol.
@@IAMASPANNER hello again, thanks for your reply. 4.3L indeed seemed to be correct for my own service.
@@ted2091yes brother 4.3l but don't top up to max. 4.20l is good 👍🏽
3,8 litros.
Do you use 5-30 oil?
Yes
@Faizaan we used C3 but there may be other recommendations
A good oil for this engine that will decrease the oil consumption
Πόσο σου καεί φίλε;
How much engine oil to fill in 1.2 tdi
4.3 litres
@@IAMASPANNER thanks a bunch mate!
How is the oil consumption? Mine consumes 1 liter per 10000 km
This isn’t my car so I don’t know but to be honest 1 litre per 10,000 km is pretty normal for a diesel, if not even more than that.
I have the same car , i drive 20000 between service interval , and mine consumes about a half liter of oil on this kilometers , this shoud be pretty normal .
what year is this car
2013
Thanx man!!!
very helpful thank you
Hvala
Thanks man
New gasoline filter should be refilled
Agreed but in some cars such as this you can get away with it as the lift pump works and the pipes don’t airlock.
I almost fell asleep
Same
😂😂😂😂😂😂
