- this one had me sort of stumped I must say! Got some of the info right but when I heard the female voice I didn't realize that there was a sibling bond here, so, that's super cool. Really enjoyed discovering this theme and this champ!

An interesting bit about the theme is that it's divided in 5 parts, with very obvious transitions and a common transition sound, to represent the 5 weapons (shown in the little trailer) he cycles through ingame
Huh. What. I never figured that nice catch
If we look into the “5 pattern” there actually is a lot of it. There is that subtle “clap” sound that happens in a 5 pattern as well, being 3 quite separate and the last two in quick succession. If we stretch it a bit there is the “you’re never alone” phrase, where each word has 5 letters and also the “and live within, dreams revealed. I’m with you, never alone.” Part where each phrase has 5 words which I’m pretty sure is intentional since both phrases follow the pattern of 3 words, comma, 2 words . The almost celestial Violin is also used in 5 different occasions (it’s used 6 times actually, but 2 of them are used when Alune says “I’m with you” and both times it has the exact same sound, so I think it counts). Not sure if the background violin is also in a 5 pattern like the “claps”, but it might be.
I don’t really know if this is all intentional or the voices in my head are just making it up. But since riot games writes songs better than they write codes I’m pretty sure it is. Let me know if I’m exaggerating

It might be about half a second off, but it is the best I could do. It’s simply every time they suddenly remove the audio (before every chorus and right after the first one)

Aphelios theme is one of the most intricate ones made by Riot. Your guesses were very good, some right and even those wrong were in theme with this champion, but Aphelios and Alune's theme is one that you really understand only after you read their story.
The voice is Alune, saying that she is there with him for their mission and bearing part of his pain in doing so, and Aphelios is the instruments, particularly the cello, giving substance to Alune's sacrifice.
It is implied that Alune is friends with another champion called Yuumi, the why and how... read about Yuumi you will understand XD.
The part I like the most about this song is how hypnotic it is. Before I knew who the characters were I always felt they would be hard to grasp and understand. The hypnotic feel is both welcoming and dangerous, a perfect representation of the characters together!
The song reminds me of Amy Lee, Evanescence band, this is the style they often likes to put out.

"Silent assasin" - wow he's on point as usual.
One of my favorite interpretations is that the song is meant to be a duet, but the CELLO is what serves as Aphelios' voice since he is mute. Thus, those intense strings at the back half of the song.
Aphelios in the lore is part of the Lunari clan. They worship the moon and its Aspect (currently wielded by the champion Diana). His sister's name is Alune. All those "lune" references mean "moon" in French (Luna is Latin for moon) and Aphelios comes from the Greek "Apo" (away, from, off) and "Helios" (the sun). Aphelios literally means farthest from the Sun. It's all connected 😁!

Aphelios is one of my favorite characters. From the beginning his concept as a mute assassin devote to the moon. All his movements meticulous calculated to kill his targets, and his tales not being told by him but by his sister, her voice is his voice and his actions are her actions.
He have so many layers like the phases of the moon. But he still delicate, a frightened boy inside of all this. Resisting the pain that courses throug him to be with Alune. And the music show this as her sister singing just to him from top of the Mount Targon. He is the only that can hear her. Alune is solitary, and can't even stand the harsh climate of the mount.
I truly can't describe much more how I feel and love those 2 together as A sublime moonlight shining through Runeterra.

I've always taken to the head cannon that the Cello is indicative of Aphelios, hence why it duets Laura in the " I'm with you".
I think you will love to dig through Ornn's theme (similar to Volibear and Udyr) if you do, I would recommend you also find 'the fire below the mountain' the lore song (seperate to his champion theme)
funny thing is since aphelios is rendered mute from the poison we only get how he feels and thinks based on media and what alune says since shes always watching. also theyre theme is just a vibe

Speaking of shared themes, Xayah and Rakan have a very interesting one too! But I don't know if other base champions have shared theme?
oh I love this series! and this song is so hauntingly beautiful, I get literal chills whenever I listen to it. if you are up for suggestions I definitely recommend Swain's theme or as a personal bias, Xayah and Rakan (they share a theme), amazing songs

i was literally listening to this yesterday, i completely forgot how good the themes are for most of the champions. my recommendations for the next champion theme to listen to is either Camille or Gwen - i love both of them equally. loved the video as usual marcus

A fact I love about this songs is the violin is supposed to be aphelios harmonizing with his sister, the poison so strong it mutes him, but connects him so spiritually with his sister so that they are one, and in battle sings with his sister

This champion concept is great because when the artwork was first revealed everyone immediately assumed that the woman was a ghost/spirit that had died and influenced the man. Very cool to see a completely different and unexpected approach, and glad you liked the song! it's quite haunting
So, Aphelios is mute because the drug takes his voice, and the drug. During the game you only hear the sister, who basically comforts and guides Aphelios. So the song is basically telling him to let her guide him. He's a "weapon" because he surrenders his own personhood to wield the guns and let his sister, who has basically ascended to a higher plane of existence, to make the calls for him.
Here's a small bit of insight into the track: the voice standing out against a muted backing track is an audio representation of Aphelios' mind - his entire devotion being toward his sister, everything else falling to the wayside, only in his peripherals, filled with dissonance as he hones in with singular focus. Aphelios makes himself mute, so he may hear his sister's voice from beyond, and in the process he poisons himself over and over again.
Aphelios is a fuse burning at an ever-growing pace, destroying himself bit by bit to try and fulfill his goals.
Another great video. An idea I have for when you've done a lot more of these, go back and listen to a bunch of champion themes from a specific region and then try to guess things about that region from the combined themes.

That right there is my third ever champion theme. After I heard Pantheons and Vexes themes I was still in disbelief that Riot games music department makes only bangers, and searched desperately for proof that there is AT LEAST ONE bad champ theme. All I felt after this one is that... there is no way you could make such a great song for such an interesting character, and not even include it in the game its from in any way. However, i figured that my search is pointless. They are all amazing, every single one. I still listen to them sometimes, every time as first.

The Woman singing it's Actually her Sister calling for Aphelios Faith, her sister help him pushing out their oppressed tribe, they have to live in shadows, Becouse their are constantly been hunt from another tribe that lives in there, Aphelios is also a muted person, he does no talk, he actually can't, it is also a sacrifice becouse he drinks a potent potion so he can connect with her sister, her sister gives him Weapons from another realm, where the sister is...

I still highly recommend Zoe! There are some things I WANT to say but it's very hard to do so in a way that says nothing about the character. But I think it's fair to say it's a change from the "serious" tone of this. That's about as specific as I can get but I think you'd have fun trying to figure that one out.
Amazing video as always. Personally I didn’t like this song much but when you go in-depth it’s hard not to like it after understanding how much effort was put into it. I’ve always been into more upbeat music genres like Artcore and such. (Artcore is classical instruments as the lead and EDM as the background. Plum ~ Melodic Artist is an amazing example of Artcore especially with his song “R” and “Maelstrom”)
Moving on though. Even though the song does have an amazing drop it never captivated me but after understanding aphelios through your description it’s much harder to not get captivated by this song. You not only have a way to deep dive into the song and explain musical elements but you also have an amazing way at conveying and portraying it that I think it also makes the song much more enjoyable for the viewer. An example of this when when I listened to you react to Hikari and SCII WoL theme. Amazing work and good luck getting that 100k and to another 100k after!!!

Fun Fact: The 5 weapons that Alune makes for Aphelios come from celestial beings portrayed in card game Legends of Runeterra. Calibrum, Gravitum and Severum are the cards "The Flight", "The Cloven Way" and "The Fangs" respectively.

BRUH where was this channel all this time.....this is a very interesting concept of guessing champion's characters from their theme music and image XD and then checking their lore afterwards....pretty interesting to see you figure out the puzzle pieces :)
FYI: There is a message within their names. Alune (luna = moon) is taking over Aphelios (helios = sun), which is their goal. The triumph of moon worshipers "Lunari" over the sun worshippers "Solari".
In the lore it skipped one important thing, though you could probably guess from the names. In Targon, there's a major religion, that's a cult of the sun, Solari. And they belive that anyone who worships any other light is a heretic and deserves death, which caused them to often attack the cult of the moon, Lunari (Aphelios is one of Lunari). Also, yes just like in our world moon reflects the sun but neither of them know that.

Love the variety of themes Riot can put out to perfectly illustrate each character without ever seeing them. One of my favorite themes that does this so well is Neeko's. Hey you finally did the Aphelios blind react! I got really excited when I saw that you uploaded this dear Marco, this one's truly one of the greatest songs to come from League. I don't know if you've noticed but I always comment the same thing on your League videos (sounding like a broken record at this point), and as always i'll recommend to listen to the same tunes. Rell's theme is my favorite song to come from League and it would be really really cool to see your blind react. Swain's theme is great too, and I love that every time you play as Swain at the start of the game you can listen to his theme in the background. There's also Sylas' and Diana's themes that are really really great, would love to see your reaction to any of those songs (but specially Rell's, having that she's not really that popular and Riot seems to ignore her completely at times). Great video as always Marco, love to see your insight on these songs i've liked for a long time.

Honestly, your initial understanding after listening to their theme with no other context is basically what would happen if Aphelios and Alune were one person, which I think just shows how amazing Riot's music department is.

Honestly I recommend Diana's theme. It's one of the oldest but certainly beautiful outnof the champions.

Bruh i had passed the time of addiction to these themes, and you just made me put pantheon+jhin's theme on repeat again for the pass week.
Aphelios theme is especially good with surroundings sound- i messed around with my grandfather's amplifier back then when i set up the system of external outputs, and no joke the theme mesmerized me everytime the cello kicked in.

Aphelios is Faithful to his Sister so you got that right, but he's not a loner, I mean I kinda is but spiritually (and literally phisically) he couldnt live without alune (his sister) to keep the connection with her alive, he drinks a venom that leaves him Mute
EDIT: I wrote this Halfway your video so is not hindsight he is one of my fav champions and I dont actually read too much lore but Thats what I could Remember at the top of my head
I know everyone is asking you to do a different song every minute of every day but for me some of best ones are for Seraphine and Yuumi because I feel there’s so many qualities about them that are unique you may be able to pick up on! Yuumi’s especially is very reminiscent of the pure musical storytelling present in Flight of the Bumblebee.

I think you should take a look in the Cyberpunk 2077 music, besides the controversial launch, the game has some great music, i personally recommend "Been Good to Know Ya" it holds so much emotion and it brings me goosebumps every time.
