Hey Ken, you obviously need to do more homework. Read some of his books and watch more of his sermons. He does not teach you must confess your sins. He is more clear on the gospel than anybody I've listened to or watched, and I've listened to all of them in my 6 yrs since being saved. God has weeded out many false teachers out of my way, and he put someone in front of me who breaks it down so beautifully and so simple, because it is that simple, Amen! ❤🙏
Did you actually watch the above Video ? In the clearest terms available , Farley designates 1 John 1:9 as "Evangelistic" and posits a Necessary Condition of "Confession" as that which gives everlasting life . Exegetically impossible to sustain in light of every conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/endless Justification before God passages in Scripture . "CONFESSION" is a work . Not faith . Faith in the Christ (Jesus) For His Free Gift of Endless Life alone regenerates forever , in every conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/eternal Justification before God passage in the Bible . Without exception . Farley has changed the Bullseye on the Dartboard .
I've listened to Dr. Andrew Farley many times, over several years and heard more lengthy explanations and sermons regarding this subject,,,,and,,, I have NEVER once heard him say ,you need to confess your sins, confess your sins ,,to be saved.,, The point he is trying to make, was about the gnostics that were amongst the true believers,, who were infiltrating the church so to speak and that the gnostics did not believe that they sinned or had any sin.And they need to recognize they are sinners. Also, the second point that Andrew will often make in these teachings is that we don't use 1st John 1:9 ,,as a to quote him, "as a bar of soap".. we don't need to continually confess our sins to to stay saved. In fact we never have to confess our sins again,to obtain forgiveness once we are saved.. I'm wondering if you would have continued to play the whole video teaching, Andrew would have gone into that.. You can find more in-depth teachings on this, on his UA-cam page or website. 🐦
Ditto, I see GES going after Farley? What? GES ain't as perfect as they think themselves. Just look at their stance on 'rewards' compared to Farley's who says, Jesus is our crown and our reward [singular].
@JeremyThielman yeah, 👍 I lean towards the Jesus is our reward position also.. The reason I do, is because I don't see anywhere in the apostle Paul's letters ,where he says ,we get rewardsssss,,,, but rather Jesus is our Reward. 🐦

Amen, I understand exactly where you're coming from and I agree with you 100 %, very well explained. The book of 1 John is about fellowship. For a person to have eternal life they simply believe in Jesus for it and know they have it. Forgiveness of sin is a fellowship issue. God bless you and God bless the GES.
Andrew is right in the whole contex. The presumption you made about "we" is wrong. It is more likely John's loving and inclusive writing style uses "we" to come along side those gnostic style people, that were close to the church, but who deny that Jesus was a real flesh and blood, and deny that sin is a real thing.
I think it might be a good idea to check out Dr. Farley’s latest books or his website for a more complete understanding of his views. He goes into a lot more depth there compared to a short video clip or sermon. I’m just suggesting this because, like GES, he has a pretty big following, and it’s important to be thoughtful when critiquing. His message of grace has genuinely helped a lot of people out of tough situations (good fruit IMHO), and we wouldn’t want to unintentionally discourage those who affirm his teachings or look to him as their pastor.
Farley turns a sanctification Discipleship work into a Necessary Condition of one's Everlasting destination . Never ONCE are one's sins the issue in one being born again with endless Everlasting Life , in any conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/eternal Justification before God passage in the Bible . Nor in being condemned Forever (John 3:18 ; Revelation 20:15) . He Judicially Propitiated for all sins as the "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world" , thereby making His Free and Never Deserving Gift without Cost to all its recipients : John 4:10-14 . Only simple childlike faith in Him FOR His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life regenerates forever . The "Order" of regeneration (thus justified endlessly before God) that then proceeds to Discipleship sanctification is the Sine Qua Non itself . The Bullseye . Farley has tragically taken a Behavioral work (Confession) as the Necessary - and thus non negotiable Condition - of being invested with eternal life . Farley makes one's sins THE issue , when Scripture never does in any soteriological setting . He's got the wrong Dartboard . Therefore , turning 1 John 1:6-9 into an Evangelistic Template is undoubtedly under the Anathema (Galatians 1:6-9) .

Excellent , Ken . Dr. Farley tragically reverses the Theological Cart and Horse , unhappily . Turns "confession" into a Necessary Condition . Transforms a sanctification process into an eternal life/Justification before God issue . 1 John is undeniably written to the already born again brethren in a Discipleship fellowship context . Farley misappropriates this setting , thus confounding the only Object and Content of one's faith whereby one is irreversibly born again as is unquestionably found in the book of John : 1:12-13,3:1-18,4:1-39,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27,20:31 . When unpacked , Farley's soteriology reduces to a Working for a Free Gift Theology . Couldn't be a clearer example of a Galatians 1:6-9 phenomena .
Position and condition of believers means we are saved by faith in Christ who paid for "SIN". God did not forgive "SIN" which is that nature passed to us from Adam but Christ through his sacrifice paid for "SIN". Christ shed his blood so we can be forgiven of our sins which are the continuing result of the "SIN" nature. When we are saved we have a positional standing before God, eternally secure in our salvation but our condition is is being changed through sanctification and we continually appropriate forgiveness of our sins through confession. Conditional change has a lot to do with how we as Christians live our lives and respond to the truth. Our position before God never changes.
The gospel of John commands us to believe in Jesus for the gift of God which is everlasting life. An atheist who believes he’s going to cease to exist after death could hypothetically hear Jesus offer of everlasting life to whoever believes him and believe it.
Ges teaches a gospel that leaves a person unregenerated. They claim sin isn’t the issue. The death, burial and resurrection are facts and are helpful information to bring a person to Christ but they are not vital information or the gospel for unbelievers. They deny that every born again person is a son of God. They claim you have very little to no way of knowing if you are being led by the spirit. They claim you can be a child and not a son, then they claim only sons are led by the spirit. They claim children and sons are chastised by God but children are not led by the spirit but are still chastised.

Mr. Yates, isn't the church fragmented enough without you splitting hairs? I've listened to Dr. Farley's messages for years, and I can assure you he does not believe anyone is saved by admitting they're a sinner alone. He always preaches the full gospel, including receiving eternal life by believing in the work Jesus did for us. But you've taken 2 or 3 minutes of one message out of context and contorted what he said and tell the whole world how wrong he is. I think you would be wise to take down this video and apologize.
What is it you're affirming - specifically , precisely , and without exception - one must Necessarily believe and Perform until death in order to be born again with endless Everlasting Life to enter His Kingdom ?
The verse is addressed to the believers about unbelievers, those that deny that they have or ever will sin, they do not see a need for a Savior, it is the same in verses 6 and 7 about believers walking in the light, I believe he is correct about this because we are only washed or cleansed once.
What does Jesus say as he is *washing* the feet of the disciples? When Peter refuses Jesus says without the washing Peter can have no part in Him. Peter says wash all of me and Jesus replies, you are already clean, you need only wash your feet. When we believe we become "clean" but on a daily basis we need "washing" to have fellowship with God. You ought to confess your sins as often as you recognize you have sinned, and when you do you are washed in the sense Jesus was speaking of in the upper room. Read John 13:1-17 and prayerfully consider if this interpretation makes sense, and see how it relates to what Ken has spoken of here.

Colossians 1:14 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" Salvation is obtained by simply believing in Jesus' death (Blood sacrifice), burial and resurrection with all your heart for payment of all your sins, past, present and future. Great video!
The blood justifies, the resurrection justifies and glorification justifies. All 3 are needed. Saved by the blood, no, the blood is required as a component of regeneration salvation, all the other components aswell, the main part is resurrection. 'for you are dead in your sins if Christ had not risen
You slipped sin in there at the end, but you say it has no component in salvation. The confession is that you're a sinner, not a compiled list of sins (we couldn't possibly know them all). I remember the exact moment I was forgiven and sealed with the Holy Spirit -- when Jesus revealed to me that my every motive behind everything I ever said or did, was for pure selfish gain. I didn't love God, though I told myself I did, and I didn't love my neighbor, though I told myself I did. That was my confession of my sin (falling short of perfect love and righteousness), and wanting to be saved from the sin of self.

Sin is transgression of the law. So, if believers confess their sins which is the transgression of the law, that means the believers are still under the law, because sins can be only counted by the law. However, the truth is believers are not under the law anymore.
You’re not under the law as far as its purpose of showing your need for Christ. You still sin and need your feet washed, which is what John unpacks in his first epistle, by confession that resorts fellowship with Christ.

Hi Ken, I returned to ask a question, if 1John 1:9 is talking to believers about believers, why would he say they are unrighteous? The scripture does not as far as I am aware ever call the believer unrighteous. John is talking to believers, but he talks about the people in the light, and he talks about those that walk in darkness, one is walking in right standing and one is not saved. 1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: Whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother. He also talks to the believers about who is antichrist and what makes them antichrist, but he is not saying the believers are antichrists.
The Way the Children of God and of the Devil Are Manifested (1 John 3:9-10) December 4, 2019 by Bob Wilkin in Blog - 1 John 3:10, child of the devil, positional vs. experiential truth “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.” The following question has led to today’s blog post: I am writing in hopes of getting some further help on a passage of Scripture. I read Bob’s explanation of 1 John 3:9 and agree with his conclusions. Would I be correct in understanding 1 John 3:10 in the same sense of dealing with a believer’s true born-again nature vs his flesh? The verse seems to be saying that someone’s lack of righteousness and love of other Christians marks them out as being children of the devil. I can see how that would be subjective, though. I also notice that the word practice that is found in some translations does not seem to be in the Greek text. I just want to know how I should understand 1 John 3:10. Your help would be much appreciated. First, I do not agree with the punctuation in the NKJV. I think that the first line of verse 10 should actually be the last line of verse 9: “Whoever has been born of God…cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest.” I’d put a period, not a colon, after manifest. I think v 10a (as it is currently designated) refers back to v 9, not forward to what follows. Second, the way in which a child of God manifests his inner self, his eternal sinless self, is by living righteously. Sin is never a manifestation of the born-of-God inner man. Whenever a believer sins, he is manifesting the works of the devil, not of God. Remember Jesus’ words, “Get behind Me, Satan!” (Matt 16:23)? He said those words to the Apostle Peter when he was acting contrary to God’s declared will. Compare 1 John 3:5-6, which says that “in Him there is no sin” and that “whoever abides in Him does not sin.” Third, the word manifest is crucial here. It is an experiential word. John is not discussing the believer’s position in Christ. Of course, our position is righteous, holy, sinless. Instead, he is discussing the believer’s experience in Christ. Our experience is not perfect. 1 John 3:10b-15 follows up on 3:9-10a. It basically says that in order to manifest a life sourced in God and abiding in Him, we must love our Christian brothers and sisters. Love is the mark of the believer’s inner man. Here is how Zane Hodges explains 1 John 3:9-10 in the condensed version of his commentary on 1-3 John (you can download the free condensed version here): 3:10a. The NKJV takes this statement as a reference to what follows it (note the colon in its translation). But it is preferable to take the last half of the verse as the beginning of a new unit. The words In this refer backward rather than forward in this context. The use of the words are manifest in verse 10a link the statement with what has preceded in 2:29-3:9. The children of God…are manifest by their doing righteousness. This is not to be viewed as a test of salvation. John’s one and only test of salvation is faith (cf. 5:1 and 5:9-13). Instead, this is simply a statement about how God’s children do manifest themselves. Those who see 1 John as a handbook for deciding who is saved and who is not misuse the book grievously. John is advancing the theme stated in 2:28 that boldness in the presence of the Lord is offered to those who abide in Him. By abiding in Him, believers can and do manifest themselves as children of God. But those who do not abide do not so manifest themselves. The reality of their regenerate inward man remains hidden. The same principle applies to the children of the devil. There is no good reason to take this phrase as a reference to unsaved people generally (see v 8). The expression children of the devil is descriptive in nature. In light of 2 John 9 (see comments there), the Christian who has deviated from sound doctrine about the person and work of Jesus Christ and who vigorously opposes the truth could be so described. This is no more unusual than the fact that Jesus addressed His own disciple Peter as “Satan” (Matt 16:23). The “child of the devil” is anyone who does the devil’s work by opposing the truth. A believer cannot be a child of the devil. In his position he is a child of God. But a believer can act like a child of the devil. A believer can manifest a life that is opposed to who he is in the inner man. John, of course, is calling for his mature believing readers to continue to manifest righteousness, to live like who they are in the inner self.
You guys are right that you only need to believe in Christ to be saved but you have to believe in the right Christ because there are may false christs... Obviously you have to believe in the Jesus who died for you on the cross. Without the blood there is no remission of sins.
@@freegraceau I think a believer is saved by just believing in Christ alone and nothing else but of course we need to believe in the right Jesus, right? I guess God would know the person's heart. @ I agree it’s important because I don’t think people are likely to believe in Jesus for everlasting life if they do not understand how God showed his love for them. Well, you are not the one who did the trespassing, but you still can say the word "WE". That is the WAY what John tried to say.
Do we have to believe the Gospel for eternal life? yes, then we have to believe that Christ died for what? Our sins. We cannot believe the Gospel if we deny we are sinners in need of a savior. If we deny our sins then we cannot receive eternal life.

I think the word "repent" gets forced into the idea of showing remorse for sin and resolving to stop sinning, whereas in the Bible it seems to be at least as much about turning from idolatry and acts that work against God, over to siding with God. Forgiveness is what takes away the anger of God against sinners so that we can actually approach God. I don't think it's so much belief in Jesus that saves us from the lake of fire so much as God Himself who saves us from the lake of fire. But the main thing is not that we don't end up in the lake of fire, but that we DO enjoy eternal life in the new heavens and earth as we were created to exist in.
Dr Farley is correct. The congregations then, as now, consisted of believers and non-believers. John describes that the Believer has admitted they're a sinner and has been cleansed of all unrighteousness (sin). Further down, he addresses unbelieving congregants that never confessed they're sinners as being deceived and are not like the rest of "we Apostles". Verse 1John 1:8 is what the Believer has done to be saved, and verse 9 is the deceived unbeliever, who has not confessed his sin that needs a Savior, therefore he doesn't have a Savior. We only need to confirm that the Saints don't have any ongoing sin to confess after salvation (because Jesus' one time Sacrifice removes all sin from the Believer), by comparing Scripture with Scripture. Romans 6:17-18,20,22 (MEV) But thanks be to God, for *_you were slaves of sin,_* but you have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were entrusted, [18] *_and having been freed from sin,_* you became the slaves of righteousness. [22] *_But now, having been freed from sin_* and having become slaves of God, you have fruit unto holiness, and the end is eternal life.
Farley is in major error, John's letters are for true repentant believers 1 John 1:6-7 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. IF you are not a slave to sin you are a slave to Jesus.
@@inChristLife 1 John is about fellowship, not salvation. But it's true Jesus paid for your sins so obviously how would you believe in someone if you think you don't have sin?

Farley means well but is incorrect of the class of people spoken about. These are believers (yes saved and eternally secure by Jesus) thinking they have achieved sinless perfection, or no need to confess when they sin and their need to have their feet washed by the Lord to maintain daily communion. Of us saints it is true WE HAVE SIN DWELLING IN US. WE CANNOT SAY WE HAVE NO SIN IN US. PAUL SAID THE SIN That dwells IN ME IN ROMANS 7. OF CHRIST IT SAYS "HE KNEW NO SIN." NONE DWELLING IN HIM! IN LIGHT OF JUSTIFICATION TO LIFE. NO! NEVER, BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY FORGIVEN IN THAT LIGHT. BECAUSE THE LORD ALREADY SAW THAT SIN BEFORE THEY WERE SAVED, AND ALREADY PAID FOR IT. ALL A SAINTS SINS, BEFORE AND AFTER SALVATION WERE PAID FOR. NOW IF YOU MISS THIS NEXT SCRIPTURAL TRUTH, YOU WILL NEVER HERE ON EARTH KNOW YOUR ETERNAL SECURITY IN JESUS! HERE IT IS, AND NO ONE CAN DENY THIS; *******ALL MY SINS WERE FUTURE TO CHRIST.******* WE SAY HE PAID FOR ALL MY SINS, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE JUST TO ENFORCE THE POINT THAT HE PAID FOR ALL OF THEM. BUT TECHNICALLY THAT REALLY IS INCORRECT. THEY WERE ALL FUTURE TO CHRIST BECAUSE HE SAW EVERY ONE OF MINE BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN! And the forgiveness spoken about here is for the saint in light of sanctification to daily fellowship and communion with Father. Just like," if you do not forgive others sins, neither will YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER FORGIVE YOURS!!!!!!! BUT WAI, WHEN CHRIST SAVES YOU, They ARE ETERNALLY Forgiven. AGAIN, IF I DO NOT FORGIVE ITHERS, THAT IS A SIN IN FATHERS SIGHT, AND I CANNOT GO ON IN DAILY COMMUNION WITH HIM AND WITH CHRIST IN THE WORK. Remember to Peter He said, "He that has been (saved) washed ALL OVER IS CLEAN AND ONLY NEEDS HIS FEET WASHED, BY IS ALREADY TOTALLY CLEAN, SAVED. BUT TO HAVE A PART WITH CHRIST IN SERVICE DOWN HERE WE NEED TO KEEP SHORT ACCOUNTS SO NOT TO BREAK DAILY COMMUNION AND BE ABLE TO GO ON IN SERVING CHRIST. A VESSEL CLEAN AND FIT FOR THE MASTERS USE. I agree with dr farley, why? if you dont believe you are a sinner OR you believe that through repentance from sin you can be saved then christ CANNOT save you. example: I just watched a video by orthodox jewish rabbi tovia singer where he was saying that christianity was evil becouse it told people they were sinners and evil. he went on to say that in judaism you didnt need a saviour or the shedding of blood but all you needed to do was to tell God you were sorry and then committ to repenting of your sins and doing better to be made right with God. the quickest way to hell is to either 1) dont believe you are evil, 2) dont believe you need a soviour or the shedding of blood for forgiveness. again, if Im not evil WHY do I need Jesus to save me??

@@jolookstothestars6358 no, you don't need feel sorrow when you hear the gospel. The Holy Spirit convicts of sins BECAUSE they not believe in Him, not because they commited sins. John 16:9 (KJV) Of sin, BECAUSE they believe not on me; and also actually God did not count your sins when He was doing the reconciliation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:19 (KJV) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
@@jolookstothestars6358an atheist believes that when he dies he will cease to exist forever… he could read the Gospel of John and hear that whoever believes in Jesus has everlasting life. He could rightfully be persuaded that he has everlasting life because he believes in Jesus Christ and therefore be saved. In this situation he doesn’t understand that he was without everlasting life because of sin, but he’ll come to learn it. These hypotheticals don’t really interest me because as Zane Hodges used to say, it’s true that the absolute minimum of the saving message is that we must believe in Jesus Christ for everlasting life however one is unlikely to do so unless they understand Jesus propitiation for sin.
@@jolookstothestars6358 people does not need to be told anymore about their sins. They are already condemned by religion even by their own heart before they hear the gospel. That is why the gospel is called as good news, and only good news, no bad news. Because people already had the bad news from their religion about their sins that is why they always ask God to forgive their sins, ask God to accept them, in their own belief of their religion. And the gospel come to them as the good news that God has accepted them in Christ Jesus without counting their sins. Read the story of prodigal son. The father did not say anything about his son's sins. Never! It was his son himself counted his own sins.
Fellowship is a Discipleship sanctification process , after being born again with endless Everlasting Life/thus justified before God forever . Eternal Life is the Life God possesses , intrinsically , that is the Free Gift given to all who simply believe in the Christ (Jesus) FOR it , Apart from all behavioral performance (works) : John 3:16 , 4:1-39 , 5:24 , 6:28-47 , 11:23-27 , 20:31 . And : Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6,29 ; Titus 3:5 ; Philippians 3:9 ; book of Galatians .
@ so then, justification equals eternal life and sanctification is fellowship? I agree and with that definition, we can’t lose fellowship contrasting what was taught in this video…thanks much
The lost sheep of the house of Israel. That’s not you or me. We were never lost because we never strayed from the old covenant. We were never a prodigal son. We never had to be born again. God adopted us by mercy to provoke Israel to jealousy & gave us the gift of eternal life. Where there is no law sin is not imputed. God does not impute sin to anyone today because there is no law of Moses against any of us today.
I’m not a sinner because I sin, I’m a sinner because Adam sinned. Jesus is the solution to that. To believe the Gospel, is to recognize this fact. It’s an integral part of believing the Gospel. Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
If you sin, then (and only then) are you a sinner. God is not in the business of assigning to the innocent the guilt of another. “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself (~Ezekiel 18:20)." Adam's sin brought death (mortality). Jesus brought life (immortality). We inherited Adam's mortality, not his sin. Jesus is the solution to the death problem.

Bible never Once says one Must Necessarily think that they're a "sinner" to be invested with His endless Life as a Free Gift . Ever . Nor that "Confession" (a work) is the sole Condition of being born again . 1 John is written to the already born again brethren. It's not an Evangelistic context .
@timgrady4630 the Bible says different things, like believe, call upon, repent, etc. But the fact is when we are saved when the spirit of the Lord causes us to repent (change our mind) and believe. The order in which this happens is irrelevant. Just as in 1 John, people who don't believe they are sinners, don't feel a need to call upon the Lord. This is why we have so many "good" people that think they have met the standard to be saved. And I will respectively disagree... 1 John is evangelistic and talking to unbelievers who think they are "good people" that have no sin. It is also talking about fellowship among believers in Christ. We do not fall out of fellowship with God. We are either in Christ or in Adam. There's no in-between. His love is far greater than that between humans. He has forgiven and forgotten ALL of our sins.

You are missing the point. You are saved by believing that Jesus paid the price for your sins by his death burial and resurrection on the cross. Logically, you have to confess that you have sin that needs to be forgiven in order to believe that he died for your sins. The word used for Confess in the Greek is Homologeo which means to speak the same or to be in agreement. Meaning you agree you have sin and that Christs death burial and resurrection is the sufficient payment for that sin. You’ve mischaracterized Andrew Farleys teaching 100%
Ges isn’t missing any point. They completely grasp what you’re saying. A follower of ges says, “Never ONCE are one's sins the issue in one being born again with endless Everlasting Life, in any conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/eternal Justification before God passage in the Bible .” They don’t believe sin is the issue. Don’t believe is the point
@ that is a Damnable lie. We need salvation from the penalty of sin BECAUSE we have sin. Logically you have to confess or agree that you have sin. When we place our faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for the payment of those sins we are saved. This is Christian knowledge 101. The Bible makes this abundantly clear time and time again. To believe IN Jesus, or I like how the KJV puts it believe ON Jesus, means to trust in Jesus for the payment of your sins. But if you don’t believe you have any sin (1 John 1:8) then you don’t believe that you need to trust that Jesus needs to be the once for all sacrifice for the payment of your sins. If you don’t believe Jesus must be the sacrifice for the payment of your sins then you are not saved. This is an Elementary concept for the faith.
With all due respect Ken. I love you but you are taking a small snapshot of one of his sermons and that is a mistake because he always is very clear on the Gospel. This clip of him to me is right on. And if you hear him in many other sermons he is also spot on the Gospel. Love you in Christ Jesus ❤

Consider the pronoun “we” being the apostles. Start with 1:1. When John uses the pronoun we in the last few verses uses it propositionally as he exposes the false teachers or antichrists in the later part of the letter. I think John uses somewhat of the same argument style as Paul does in Galatians. In verse 9 the word confess is not aorist but present. John is saying he is “confessing” his sins ongoingly. A lifestyle. God has “forgiven and cleansed” John says. The false teachers rejected sin (nature) and sins. John is refuted this by using himself as a model for the hearers to follow and to refute the false teachers who als rejected that Christ came in the flesh. There is a lot here to explain but remember the we in verse 8-10 is the same we as in the beginning of the epistle. I pray this helps or encourages folks to reflect on this marvelous Christ and His Word. 🙏

First of all Andrew is not saying you become a believer by just admitting and confessing. Why don’t you watch more than just a clip. If you watch him on a regular basis you know for sure that is not what he is saying. He preaches the true gospel of the death burial and resurrection by faith to be saved. He is by far the best teacher of what the gospel means. You can’t just take something he says out of context because you’re bored and have no content.
Ken is not wrong. Andrew makes confession of sin a condition for receiving eternal life based on a flawed interpretation of 1 John 1. This is the point. He shouldn't have to share the full presentation to make this accurate point. How did Ken misrepresent Andrew's view of 1 John 1 and confession of sin as a requirement for receiving eternal life?

I've listened to Dr. Andrew Farley many times, over several years and heard more lengthy explanations and sermons regarding this subject,,,,and,,, I have NEVER once heard him say ,you need to confess your sins, confess your sins ,,to be saved.,,
The point he is trying to make, was about the gnostics that were amongst the true believers,, who were infiltrating the church so to speak and that the gnostics did not believe that they sinned or had any sin.And they need to recognize they are sinners.

He addressed it to believers, it’s illogical to then assume that ‘we’ doesn’t refer to the audience being addressed.
Yes ,I agree,,👍🐦
I think it might be a good idea to check out Dr. Farley’s latest books or his website for a more complete understanding of his views. He goes into a lot more depth there compared to a short video clip or sermon. I’m just suggesting this because, like GES, he has a pretty big following, and it’s important to be thoughtful when critiquing. His message of grace has genuinely helped a lot of people out of tough situations (good fruit IMHO), and we wouldn’t want to unintentionally discourage those who affirm his teachings or look to him as their pastor.

Farley misappropriates this setting , thus confounding the only Object and Content of one's faith whereby one is irreversibly born again as is unquestionably found in the book of John :
1:12-13,3:1-18,4:1-39,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27,20:31 .
What do you need to be saved from if you don't have to recognize you're a sinner?

I just made a similar comment as well,,, before I came across yours. 👍🐦

Thank you Brother! Eyes up! Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Colossians 1:14 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" Salvation is obtained by simply believing in Jesus' death (Blood sacrifice), burial and resurrection with all your heart for payment of all your sins, past, present and future.
@@mariusbosman9533His death destroyed the barrier that prevented man from being reconciled to God, which is sin. So, everyone has a chance to be saved. The sin of the world has been paid for in full.

The Way the Children of God and of the Devil Are Manifested (1 John 3:9-10)
December 4, 2019 by Bob Wilkin in Blog - 1 John 3:10, child of the devil, positional vs. experiential truth
“Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.”
The following question has led to today’s blog post:
I am writing in hopes of getting some further help on a passage of Scripture.
Compare 1 John 3:5-6, which says that “in Him there is no sin” and that “whoever abides in Him does not sin.”
Third, the word manifest is crucial here.
Here is how Zane Hodges explains 1 John 3:9-10 in the condensed version of his commentary on 1-3 John (you can download the free condensed version here):
So you’re saying an unbeliever who hasn’t heard or Christ could start reading the gospel of John and cannot be saved prior to chapter 19? Curious…
@@freegraceau I think a believer is saved by just believing in Christ alone and nothing else but of course we need to believe in the right Jesus, right? I guess God would know the person's heart. But that's why it's important to preach the cross because without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins so it's very important.
@@user-xj9vf4xb9p I agree with you totally, but I reject that you must know of the propitiation on the cross for it to be the right Jesus. If that was true then you could start at John chapter 1 and not be saved till you get to 19 and then have to understand exactly what’s happening there.
@ I agree it’s important because I don’t think people are likely to believe in Jesus for everlasting life if they do not understand how God showed his love for them. That said I don’t think understanding sin or the cross is necessary, again because I’d have to concede that John 1-18 is insufficient to save.

NOW, WHEN A SAINT COMMITS A SIN, AND CONFESSES IT TO FATHER AND LETS HIM WASH OUR FEET SO WE CAN GO ON IN HIS SERVICE, IN WHAT LIGHT DOES HE FORGIVE THAT SIN WE COMMITED? IN LIGHT OF JUSTIFICATION TO LIFE. NO! NEVER, BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY FORGIVEN IN THAT LIGHT. BECAUSE THE LORD ALREADY SAW THAT SIN BEFORE THEY WERE SAVED, AND ALREADY PAID FOR IT. ALL A SAINTS SINS, BEFORE AND AFTER SALVATION WERE PAID FOR.
NOW IF YOU MISS THIS NEXT SCRIPTURAL TRUTH, YOU WILL NEVER HERE ON EARTH KNOW YOUR ETERNAL SECURITY IN JESUS! HERE IT IS, AND NO ONE CAN DENY THIS;

WE SAY HE PAID FOR ALL MY SINS, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE JUST TO ENFORCE THE POINT THAT HE PAID FOR ALL OF THEM.

And the gospel come to them as the good news that God has accepted them in Christ Jesus without counting their sins.
Read the story of prodigal son. The father did not say anything about his son's sins. Never! It was his son himself counted his own sins.
So would you please define the distinction between what you call “fellowship” and eternal life
Fellowship is a Discipleship sanctification process , after being born again with endless Everlasting Life/thus justified before God forever .
Eternal Life is the Life God possesses , intrinsically , that is the Free Gift given to all who simply believe in the Christ (Jesus) FOR it , Apart from all behavioral performance (works) :
John 3:16 , 4:1-39 , 5:24 , 6:28-47 , 11:23-27 , 20:31 .
And :
Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6,29 ; Titus 3:5 ; Philippians 3:9 ; book of Galatians .
@ so then, justification equals eternal life and sanctification is fellowship? I agree and with that definition, we can’t lose fellowship contrasting what was taught in this video…thanks much
True Ken the lost must receive Christ, but they certainly need to know they are lost. "The Son of man has come to seek and save the lost."

What is it you're affirming - specifically , precisely , and without exception - one must Necessarily believe and Perform until death in order to be born again with endless Everlasting Life to enter His Kingdom ?
First of all Andrew is not saying you become a believer by just admitting and confessing. Why don’t you watch more than just a clip. If you watch him on a regular basis you know for sure that is not what he is saying. He preaches the true gospel of the death burial and resurrection by faith to be saved. He is by far the best teacher of what the gospel means. You can’t just take something he says out of context because you’re bored and have no content.
You are ignoring scripture the Bible says all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. In the book if Roman’s .
@@inChristLife It is.
Matthew 9:12-13 KJV
But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, *_They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick._*
[13] But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for *_I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance._*
@@inChristLife You have to admit/confess you’re a sinner and in need of a savior before you can accept the gospel and be saved. Accepting the gospel is what saves you but you have to be in a position to accept the gospel so no Andrew is not wrong.
Thank you, im glad someone knows what they're talking about@inChristLife
Salvation is a process. It starts with God's Grace then belief, baptism, obeying Jesus's Commandments, eating His Body and drinking His Blood, forgiveness of sins(yours and others) and preserving to the end.

A person has to have full knowledge of what they have done is evil in order to commit a sin. An unbeliever does bot commit a sin simply for unbelief in God. If a person has never heard about God then he would never know that he was born with a sin nature. God will judge such a person on how he lived his life.
Jesus Judicially Propitiated for all sins ever committed .
His Doubtless Guarantee of irrevocable Everlasting Life is the Free and Never Deserving Gift itself .

If you die right now , where are you going Forever ?
Why ?
Yes, all have sinned.
Confession is required.
But if you still sin,
You are not yet saved.

Saved by grace through faith,
Not of works. Must endure unto the end.

Not clear at all what it is one must Necessarily believe and Perform until death , from your answer .
"Must endure till end" in WHAT ?
Looks like you think your behavioral performance (works) are the Decisive Factor in your Everlasting destination .

If His Bullseye were Exegetically derived , then it must Necessarily be found in every conceivable Evangelistic/Everlasting Life/endless Justification before God passage in Scripture .
Yet , we find it not only entirely ABSENT , but infinitely at Odds with Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6,29 ; Titus 3:5 ; Philippians 3:9 ; and the book of Galatians (1:6-9 in particular) .
Therefore , turning 1 John 1:6-9 into an Evangelistic Template is undoubtedly under the Anathema (Galatians 1:6-9) .
