Quality video, 9 years old and still got people liking it.
Thanks.
Perfect example of passion. If one can be so patient to get these kinds of results, that is 100% passion
THANK YOU. Before your videos, roses were a banned from my garden because I thought they were scary, complicated plant and I am a lazy gardener. Now I have roses in my garden, I use your pruning techniques and only purchase German ADR roses which are super disease resistant. I love roses now.
Thanks again for the video! A quick tip for everyone: after a couple of months of experimenting with dwarf roses, I found that grinding the pollen sacks of the father plant between your fingers helps release the pollen easier. My issue was I couldn't get the pollen out of the sacks.
Great tip!
Thank you both, Paul and Brad.
What a great video! Thanks Brad and Paul. I learned so much!
The best video on hybridizing roses, thank you!!! Clear, easy to follow, highly informative, and very well done. I actually got seed from a Powerhouse x Frances Meilland cross using this video ! I didn't plant them , just wanted to see if I could do it. I encourage anyone interested to give it a try!
I also ordered the book mentioned. Fascinating.

Very informative video! My boyfriend and I are planning to build a business and breeding plants and roses are one of the options. This video really helps me to know more about hybridization and the factors that need to consider in order to have a successful outcome.
Glad you like it!
Very direct and simple! I hoping to hybridize some roses and such!
Thanks for sharing the process of hybridizing roses. So interesting! I can only conclude that every rose that makes it to market is a winner. 🌹
Oscar Pinlac Good point! The roses must be attractive and hardy to be viable commercial hybrids.
@@botanicaltreasures2408; what is the proper time to harvest the rose seeds? Is there a need for me to wait till the color of the flower turn to brown color?
@@diannellyfetalvero4893 Rose seeds are in rose hips a fruit that forms underneath the flower. Rose hips generally turn red when they are ripe often in the late summer or fall. Some hybrid roses have infertile seeds. Generally it is more reliable to use cuttings to get rose plants since those started from seed might not be like the parent.
@@botanicaltreasures2408 thanks for your answer. I can grow roses here in my country Philippines the whole year round. Keep safe ang God bless you always.
@@diannellyfetalvero4893 God bless you also! Thank you. I have a small rose bush blooming right now by the neighborhood tiny library. It looks like a tiny house for books.
It really takes a lot of patience and dedication, congratulations! you are really a rose hero XD

Nice vid! I wish I could have different rose varieties we have very limited rose breeds here in the Philippines. So I asked my husband to bring me some rose stems from his neighbor in Australia. So far rooting hormones doing a great job.
Ma Loy you can also graft your roses. And do the flowers at your florist come from foreign country's?
Good morning

Wow, fantastic to see this, and all respect to people who dedicate in making flowers better and more beautiful for us. It is such a privilege to be able to pick any colours, scent rose etc from nurseries, absolutely stunning. I am a big rose fan, I have 9 varieties of roses, all planted by myself, (3 more on wait list!, and I curiously live in "Rosedale Cottages" ), one of my roses is almost perfect, in colour, shape/size, scent, disease resistance and foliage, non thorny, but I would like it to be a climber. Is it possible to make climbers through cross pollination, without loosing all its existing perfect qualities? I was intrigued and amazed to see after its first flush of flowers that colour of lattice changed from a perfect (non orange, non pink) apricot blush into milky coffee colour. It is not bicolour rose(which I adore btw!), but it significantly changed colour in its later stage of bloom, and lattice stayed for a long time before falling off. It is just a perfect rose in evey sense. Just on its self. Has dark foliage which beautifully contrasts its bright colour range. It is a hybrid rose, so unlike my David Austin roses, it doesn't have a perfect chalice shape or velvety soft texture of the lattice itself. But, if it is a climber, and if I could use it as cut flower, I would propagate it all around my garden, it is a perfect flower.
I just wonder can we turn it into a climber and a cut rose variety through cross pollination?
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it
Very informative, thank you
