That looks like an 80s pattern to me. I have to say, I love that navy (is it Ikat ?) fabric, All that finishing is totally worth it. Lol a modified Watteau back coat. It must be very swishy, like a pet on l'air. It looks amazing.
Unfortunately, this fabric is just printed. I would love it if the pattern had been woven in. And yep, I feel like it's a pattern from last century, too. I think I might make another one, in a more luxe fabric.
Wow, what a beautiful coat! Thanks sooo much for sharing your knowledge. The way you constructed it was amazing,. Like you mentioned , do you want a coat for a season, or one that last for years? I never had an opera coat, seeing yours makes me want one! Love it❤️❤️❤️
We (grandmother, mother and (grand)daughter are making this coat at the moment with lining as you. Did you line the hood first and connected to the jacket or first hood and then the lining all in one? My mother is used to connect the lining all in one and is having trouble trouble how to connect the lining to the jacket when the the lining of the hood is already on the hood. I hope it's makes sense what I'm trying to say 😅.
Oh my gosh, that's so lovely that you're all working on it together. I totally get what you mean. If you make the hood detachable, you can do it the usual way (outer first, then make the lining). but, if you make the hood like the pattern says, then you have to think of it as a collar. The upper collar and the under collar have to be sewn together and then all attached as one piece to the neckline of the coat. Same with a hood. Make the entire hood, then sew it into the neckline of the coat as if it is a collar (and then add the lining to the coat). Best of luck with it!
Thank you, Fin! Your coat is gorgeous, and so right for your full skirts. The fabric is so good, it says 'precipitation' to me.
Thanks, Robyn. That's what I loved about this fabric!🥰❄️🎨🌧🧵

So what is the green mesh fabric called? Is it power mesh?😮
It's called net or netting. Different countries have different names for it. It's the fabric that you make a 1950s vintage petticoat out of.
@@PerfectJacket got it! thank you so much for the reply🥰 hope you have a lovely day
