      Thanks! No matter how much time i spent, i had to know which one is the best in low light condition by comparing them side by side in real time, now i have the answer: 1st IMX291 for overall performance, price, avaibility, and the choice between 2000TVL CVBS, 1080P AHD, or CTV-TVI, and 2nd the SC1020, better than the IMX291 in so many ways, but simply impossible to find, and locked in AHD720P mode...

    Can you do an updated test, with some fpv cameras like the cat 3 and night eagle 2, and also with smartsens' new cameras? Sony also came out with their second generation so the imx series will probably get a refresh as well

    Looking to make a wearable ultra-low-light night vision setup, and would prefer camera -> near-eye display directly, rather than going through a raspberry pi module. Any suggestions?

    hello and thank you for this comparison, I can look everywhere I do not find this model (camera SONY IMX291 (CVBS 720P) f1.2 4mm lens), would you have a link or the precise name of this model, is it in usb, and if not, to your knowledge is there a comparable usb model, my lens (see the stars without any sources of light), thank you in advance for your repairs.

    I saw on the rcgroups thread that you bought a "yx185b" camera from aliexpress that a user called "nightshot" claimed that it is sc1020 sensor. did you try it? I am trying to get sc1020 camera too, and I am thinking about buying this model too from alibaba

    Hi Freddy! Which chipset is used on the camera sc1020?
    It seems to me to be the best and the brightest.

    • @freddylateub7669
      @freddylateub7669  6 років тому +1

      Yes, SC1020 is my favorite along with the IMX291 in AHD mode, the SC1020 tested in this video has a FH8523 chipset. The SC1020 has the best contrast, color and low light performance, only downside, the slow shutter speed in ultra low light condition (1/4s)

    • @freddylateub7669

      No IR filter of any kind in all of the tested cameras, except for the Mobius, Nikon and Foxeer XAT520 (built in IR filters)

    hello, i am going to buy one of these for astrophotography, someone tells that for very low light, the imx225 is the best,
    because the snr1 is the lowest ( 0.13 vs 0.17 imx 291)
    you say that imx225 is grainy, compared to imx291, but
    i saw in this review that for imx225 you used cvbs output, not ahd. why? it is not available?
    what do you think of the newest imx327 (upgrade of 291) and imx385 (upgrade of 185)
    i am grateful to you for this work!
    thank you!
    Lodovico

      Thanks mate, i red the same regarding the IMX225, but despite beeing super sensitive, the IMX225 has one of the worst picture, grainy, super yellowish, poor managment of contrasts, but the IMX225 is kind of old, and sensitivity is not all... I don't know about the noise-to-sound ratio, or how they tested it, but the result is bad! (i have different kind of IMX225 based boards, they all have the same downsides) anyway, AHD would have improved its defintion, but the quantity of noise and the poor managment of contrasts and color would have stayed the same. I hope i'll be able to test the IMX385 or 327 someday, but now i definitly don't have the time... Thanks for your comment! :)

    SONY IMX 225 Sensitivity (F5.6) 2350mV. SONY IMX 291 Sensitivity (F5.6) 1300mV. SONY IMX 225 is the best.

    • @freddylateub7669
      @freddylateub7669  6 років тому

      SC1020: 8000mV! But then comes the chipset, and its hability to manage exposure. On this test you can see that the IMX225 struggle to manage bright and dark areas, color balance is all yellowish, and it's also super grainy because of its poor Sound To Noise Ratio! Sensitivity is not everything!

    • @MrHedgehogg
      @MrHedgehogg 6 років тому

      What kind of chipset is used with the imx291? nvp2441H, FH8550D or anything else? What's the difference between them?

    • @freddylateub7669
      @freddylateub7669  6 років тому +1

      On this test the IMX291 is equipped with an NVP2441H and the IMX225 an NVP2431, the problem is that every sensor is compatible to a list of specific chipset, i'm pretty sure that NVP2441 and IMX225 are not compatible, otherwise manufacturers would have make them work together. The chipset is like 50% of the camera performance, the most visible advantage are the management of bright and dark areas in the same picture (WDR) or DEFOG (gives you a well balanced picture in extrem conditions, like foggy weather, or ultra low light condition, etc...) Both NVPXXXX or FHXXXX products can be awesome or terrible, depends of the chipset, and don't get fooled by NVP2431 sounds almost like NVP2441 because in term of performance, they don't play in the same league...

    I watched the video well ~!
    The brightness at night seems to be the best at sc1020. Perhaps?
    Do you have a car dvr model that uses a sc1020 lens?

    • @freddylateub7669
      @freddylateub7669  6 років тому +1

      Yes, the brightest is the SC1020, because of its really high sensitivity (8000mv) and because of its slow shutter speed (1/4s) The only way to own an SC1020 is to look for surveillance cameras on Aliexpress or even Alibaba, but they are hard to find... Maybe some dashcams are equipped with an SC1020 sensors since Smartsens SCXXXX sensors are mounted in many dashcams, that's a propability.

    For sc1020 it was necessary to use a lens of 6 mm, then the conditions would be equal.

    hi!
    I cannot make a choice what is better. Which one would you advice to buy lens f1.2 4mm M12 from TREEYE or lens f1.2 2.8mm with CS-Mount from TREEYE?

    • @freddylateub7669
      @freddylateub7669  6 років тому

      Good you asked! You might find it odd, but i've tested both, on the same board, same day, same place, and despite both beeing "f1.2" the M12 performed a lot better than the CS lens, don't ask me how, since CS lens are bigger you expect them to let more light in, but i'ts not the case when compared side by side, once again, don't ask me how, i don't understand it either, but trust me, the TREEYE M12 f1.2 4mm is brighter than the CS 2.8mm from the same manufacturer!

    • @MrHedgehogg
      @MrHedgehogg 6 років тому

      thanks for the answer. What is your opinion about the lens 2.8mm M12 1/2.5" Image Format Aperture F1.4 6.0 Megapixel from TREEYE? Unfortunately, for my camera housing, only this lens fits me. The TREEYE M12 f1.2 4mm is too long.

      Maybe because of the ultra light portable AHD recorder i'm using, i don't know...? It doesn't seem too bad to me! remember that this is a cheap AHD1 camera that cost less than 15USD, not a high end, high defintion product... At least it gives you an idea of its ultra low light performance, regardless of the definition
