I will try to make it simpler so if you are familiar with Amazon you will visit their site then look for things right? but those products are from different sellers but you are searching in Amazon so to relate it to Shopify You are the owner of the Amazon website and whatever they search on that website is all your products and not from other sellers. Shopify helps you build your online store/website without needing you to study about web development so you don't need to study programming and coding to build your online store however the advertising part and marketing is all depends on you, shopify just helps you establish your online store without them being the forefront unlike Amazon where they sell their products under their name.
Hey there! If you want to sell your own original products, you can set up a traditional online store through Shopify. Or you can look into dropshipping where you will need to partner with a supplier (AliExpress, Alibaba, and SaleHoo). From there you'll be able to choose what items you want to make available in your store from their inventory and they'll ship the products to your customers for you! We hope this helps. Best of luck! 😊
Hey, @MyCreations218! Yes, there is a monthly fee depending on what Shopify plan your business decides to go with. In addition, it is likely you'll encounter a handful of other fees (most of them related to payment processing). Hi Chees Box! Shopify is a software as a service (SaaS) eCommerce platform that allows you to build your own online store. Or, you can use Shopify's software to add online shopping and checkout functions to an existing website or social media account. You get customers by listing your products on your online store, advertising your digital or physical products or services online, and then using Shopify's checkout functions to let visitors purchase items from your website. Shopify does not directly advertise for you, but you can connect your Shopify inventory with your business's social media accounts. Then, people can shop through your social media posts. The Shopify App Store has apps specifically made to connect your social media to your store. You can access advertising apps for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms beginning with the Shopify Lite plan ($9/month.) You do not need a fully-built Shopify online store to advertise on social media. We hope that answers your question! Thanks so much for watching and posting!
Hi there! Shopify makes it easy to sell digital products, though you'll have to download an app to do it. Shopify has a native Digital Downloads app that is free and easy to use, or you can choose a third-party app if you find one you like better. Hi Brownie! Shopify's eCommerce software is different from Shopify site housing (i.e. you can shift your website to any hosting provider and still use Shopify software). You can also inject custom code into any Shopify website.
Great question. It depends! Some merchants hold their own product inventory while others sell directly through a third-party supplier who takes care of the inventory, order fulfillment, and shipping. If you decide to go the dropshipping route, it's important to do your research when choosing a vendor since you don't have any say over quality control. Some popular suppliers you can partner with are AliExpress, Alibaba, and SaleHoo. To learn more about dropshipping, check out our video. We hope this helps! Hey, @AirForceExpress - Great question! It's important to realize that Shopify does not advertise your products for you, but they do offer several tools that can help you market your business! Social media advertising, content marketing, creating email campaigns, selling on multiple marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, and creating promotional campaigns can all help you engage with your online customers. Hello, great video! Just two questions: (1) When you sign up with shopify, does that mean that you do not need a website anymore? Is that how this works? And if so, do you just add a domain to your store and that's all? (2) By using shopify, will it always show the "shopify" logo (or simply say "shopify") all the way at the bottom? If so, can that be avoided by subscribing to a more expensive plan? Thank you in advance!
Hey Pitbull Trader! Thanks for the positive feedback, and for commenting here. To answer your questions: 1. Yes, you use Shopify's software to build a new website. It is possible to use a custom URL, if you have an existing website and want to maintain your audience. 2. You can remove "Powered by Shopify" from your store through the Shopify admin. From Shopify Help Center: From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and choose the theme you want to edit and click Actions > Edit languages. ... In the Powered by Shopify HTML box, use the space bar on your keyboard to type a single space. help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/remove-powered-by-shopify-message Hope that helps!

Hi Cory! Shopify automatically assigns you a domain that will read YourStoreName.myshopify.com. I have one question if I want to make something with a Disney cartoon character will they close my shop because of copyright? Even if I made them myself.. please help
Hi Ilena, Our understanding is that Disney is VERY aggressive in protecting its brand and characters, even from seemingly minuscule threats. Here is a helpful article we found on Disney copyrights: info.legalzoom.com/article/legal-use-of-the-disney-characters Key takeaways: "There are two areas where characters could potentially be used without a license. First, expired copyrights can generally be used after expiration. For instance, the copyright on Mickey Mouse expires in 2024. Secondly, you can use protected material as inspiration for your own clearly different creation (called transformative use-it must be clearly different and cannot appear to be a copy or representation)." So, ultimately, unless you're selling under those narrow allowances, you could be looking at legal threats. Hope that helps!
Hi, Jon! For dropshipping you will need to partner with a supplier which you can research but some of the most popular ones are AliExpress, Alibaba, and SaleHoo. You will be able to choose what items you want to make available in your store from their inventory. If you want to sell your own original products, you can set up a traditional online store through Shopify. Best of luck!

Is it a store, Or is it a place to create a website? How does it get you customers? Does it post ads for your store on Facebook, Instagram, tiktok for you. Is any of that included in their subscriptions? Do you have legal domain over your website if you cancel your subscription? So many more questions
Hi Keith! That's a lot to unpack, so we will do our best to get your questions answered! If you purchase a domain through Shopify but would like to cancel your subscription, you may move it to a third-party domain registrar at any time. Just be sure to transfer your domain before canceling your subscription! Hope that covers everything! Thanks so much for stopping by and posting your question here!
I still fail to understand how your shopify store gets around. I do a lot of online shopping, and I've yet to notice a shopify store. You have to share your store url? Link it to other selling platforms? I don't get it ._.
Hey there! Yes, we encourage you to link your store to all your channels. But we highly recommend that you focus on SEO! It will be your bread and butter for driving traffic to your store! Hi there! Customers can buy products by visiting your store through its URL or through your social media accounts. Just like with any other online store, customers would add a product to their cart and will then proceed to a checkout screen.
Hi Dana! To answer your question, Shopify isn't itself a shop, but it is a platform where people can sign up and add inventory to their dashboard. You can set up a site or start sharing a link/sell on social media from there as well. Many online shops are using Shopify, but you won't see that from the consumer side of things. Here is a list of shops that use Shopify. You can see that they use their own brand name and logo, so you'd never know they used Shopify on the backend: www.shopify.com/blog/shopify-stores
As a millennial I have been a victim of gig economy, I can print Vinyl clothing merchandise, and make homemade chutneys and pickles, and also photography. I have a square space website for several months, no luck whatso ever. I am confused. Should I focus on ebay, amazon or shopify? Please help. I am more in to creating stuff, but horrible at marketing or selling. Advise Please, I am based in Australia.
Hey Open Canvas! Each of your different gigs takes a different approach and it would probably be best to put major effort into making one successful at a time. However, if your intention is to keep all three lines going, Shopify is definitely the best bet. Shopify offers great integrations with print-on-demand services that might make the clothing line easier, via dropshipping. Homemade food items would not be allowed on Amazon for sure and are also unlikely to be allowed on eBay either. However, if you want to sell things in person (food items at farmers markets, for example, or take payment for a photography session) then Square might be a good way to go, because of its strong POS. It just depends on how you want to develop your business! We wish you much success in whatever do you do!

So I search for how to make purchases or how to buy items at Shopify and all I get is how to sell. Well who buys it and how they buy it from what platform? None tells me
Hi M4nu_KZ! You can add a product to your Shopify store without sending it to anyone. If you are working with a dropshipping partner, the partner will send products directly to your customers once they place orders. But, if you're working with a fulfillment service, like Shopify Fulfillment Network, you will need to send products to your fulfillment warehouse so they can fill customers' orders once they start to order products from your Shopify store.
I'm planning for a global clothing brand which will not be a small scale but dreaming for a much wider international brand...So do you suggest I go for a seperate website? Because I guess premium crowed does not surf on the Spotify database...
Hi Mosin! Yes, you definitely want a standalone eCommerce site. Check out this list of the best eCommerce options to consider, including our suggestion for international business, PrestaShop. www.merchantmaverick.com/best-ecommerce-platforms/ Best wishes to you!
You don't explain "how it works", you explain how you as a user can navigate and operate its features. I'm specifically looking for information on how Shopify actually functions, how it produces products and how the system works between myself and the website. I'm confused because I can "create a product" with nothing but an image file, say whatever I want in the description of the product, and somehow that becomes a product someone can buy. How does Shopify function?
If I create an account and a website though shopify and perhaps later choose to not sell on shopify anymore, can I keep my website or how does that work then? Please and thank you 🙂
Hi aquarels! If you purchase a domain through Shopify, and later decide to cancel your subscription, you are welcome to move it to a third-party domain registrar at any time. Just be sure to transfer your domain BEFORE canceling your subscription. If you decide to transfer your domain, you'll have to do so within 30 days of initiating the transfer process. Note: If your new domain registrar does not meet Shopify's domain security standards, users will see an error message in their browser saying that the site is not trusted or that the certificate is not valid for 90 days after you transfer. To avoid this, be sure to choose a domain platform that supports HTTPS.

hi,thank you for your info. how much will cost monthly? Are there any fees?
Hey, @MyCreations218! Yes, there is a monthly fee depending on what Shopify plan your business decides to go with. In addition, it is likely you'll encounter a handful of other fees (most of them related to payment processing). To learn more about Shopify's costs/fees, check our out full Shopify review: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/shopify-review. We hope this helps!

Someone please explain why would pay to shop???? I can see the help for the website. But do the customers come from?

Question, does shopify allow you to attach files to your order?
Hi there! Shopify makes it easy to sell digital products, though you'll have to download an app to do it. Shopify has a native Digital Downloads app that is free and easy to use, or you can choose a third-party app if you find one you like better. Visit Shopify's help center to learn more about how to attach digital files for delivery to customers who order them. I just wanted to know, Who holds the product? Is it shipped from my location or, like Amazon, does Shopify do the product mail out.
To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you use Shopify's software to build a new website. It is possible to use a custom URL, if you have an existing website and want to maintain your audience.
2. You can remove "Powered by Shopify" from your store through the Shopify admin. Hi Cory! Shopify automatically assigns you a domain that will read YourStoreName.myshopify.com. I have one question if I want to make something with a Disney cartoon character will they close my shop because of copyright? Even if I made them myself.. please help
Hi Ilena,
Our understanding is that Disney is VERY aggressive in protecting its brand and characters, even from seemingly minuscule threats. Here is a helpful article we found on Disney copyrights: info.legalzoom.com/article/legal-use-of-the-disney-characters
Key takeaways: "There are two areas where characters could potentially be used without a license. First, expired copyrights can generally be used after expiration. For instance, the copyright on Mickey Mouse expires in 2024. Secondly, you can use protected material as inspiration for your own clearly different creation (called transformative use-it must be clearly different and cannot appear to be a copy or representation)."
So, ultimately, unless you're selling under those narrow allowances, you could be looking at legal threats. Hope that helps!
Where do the products come from once you start your store . That's my question

You get customers by listing your products on your online store, advertising your digital or physical products or services online, and then using Shopify's checkout functions to let visitors purchase items from your website.

You can access advertising apps for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms beginning with the Shopify Lite plan ($9/month.) You do not need a fully-built Shopify online store to advertise on social media.

Great video! But I still don't understand how customers will find my website and see my product...

How does Shopify function?

how can I use it I live in Ethiopia

Thanks, Martin!! We have been using 4imprint.com! They're great. We've been happy with their selection, quality, and customer service.
It's not bad but after that 3 months for 1$ it's $50-$200 depending on the plan you pick. Lot of sites out there that let you do the same but for $10 a month.
Like what?
